Sadly, I really don't feel like getting this game. WFC was good, and at times great, but I can't help but feel that this is going to be the exact same game. But with different characters!

Anyway, I'm putting my bets on the yellow bot being Sunstreaker. He has the toy's yellow, black and red colouration, and has red glowy-bits just like the other WFC Autobots.

Hasbro says it is not.

Hasbro wrote:The official story of the original 13 and specifically Alpha Trion has not been explored fully in the modern continuity that Transformers War for Cybertron, Exodus, and Prime are a part of. Anything you know from past generations of the brand may or may not be factual in the new continuity.
Hasbro wrote:The TRANSFORMERS brand team would like to confirm that Transformers War for Cybertron video game, Transformers Exodus novel, and the Transformers Prime television show are in the same aligned continuity. Hasbro is creating a single continuity to tell the bulk of our TRANSFORMERS stories going forward.
Hasbro wrote:The Transformers have lived for millions of years between the War for Cybertron events, and the events seen in PRIME. The Transformer characters have been through a lot in between, battles, new planets, and space journeys etc. As more stories are told, we will reveal exactly how it all connects and that is the fun of the new continuity, no one should feel they know what is coming next. It is a valid point to request that Hasbro helps topline the connections for fans that want to follow the progress of the new continuity.

And, when I did that big analysis of Exodus, I analyzed War for Cybertron as well, revealing that it was just as much in defiance with G1 as Exodus is.

Thats cool that its its own continuity, since it seems to be handled with care and is being done well, but it can't escape being G1 in some way as it trots along its timeline... the guys making the game have G1 videos playing next to their work monitors.. haha. Enough said.

that's because its the most iconic and well remembered version of transformers...plus its the one most of us grew up with...

when something is that iconic, its the standard that we (as the flawed race that we are) expect everything that follows, to measure up to that iconic level... we're never happy unless it is really

I'd say thats a redeeming quality rather than a flaw. If people were all as disatisfied with nowadays rock music as I am since it didn't measure up to the greats of the 60s and 70s, we might actually have more of the good stuff and less of the garbage. For example. :P
I wonder if theres going to be another super limited toyline, or a full blown one. And if we'll be getting Voyager Prime and Megs.

since you put it that way, you could argue that it's both redeeming and flawed...simple

Hate the fact that it's coming out the same month as Halo 4. Now I won't be able to decide which I want first. :-(

I was just thinking how awesome it would be to play as a combiner. They've appeared in previous games but I don't think you've been able to play as one.

I was thinking about playing a giant Transformer when you controlled Metal Gear Rex in Metal Gear Solid 4.

yellow bot concept = dragstrip? :)

Very happy to see where this is going so far. I hope we hear that they've kept co-op and escalation, and at least all the mp game types. I loved them all, and am sad it can be hard to find games for anything but tdm and conquest anymore. Ahh, well, tat's what friends are for, right?! :D

Yea, it seems so. The sad part, is that even with all its lack of support for PC, WFC still kicked ass since people could make fps unlockers... On the 360, your just effed if the game is.

Cool, Bruticus (Maximus). One of Shockwave's great accomplishments. I wonder if Brawl and/or Onslaught will be a part of him.

They have the videos playing for design inspiration. The story itself may make some callbacks to G1, but so does every other non-G1 series. A few homages do not equate to a canon connection.

Besides, take note of this line from Hasbro:
Anything you know from past generations of the brand may or may not be factual in the new continuity.

Wait a minute, this is getting announced over a YEAR in advance, with pre-orders? is this normal for video games?

I'm really curious about how you'll play as a combiner, and if they'll have them online as well.

I mean, will it take a full 5 members to combine, who does what? I know traditionally it's 5 members, the combaticons included. Though, maybe they'll "toy"(LOL!) around with things. What if it's only 3 people?
I guess it would be cool if it was like, in other games, a multi-manned vehicle with, different turrets, a driver or what have you. I'm excited, but I don't want to get my hopes up, for something that could really just end up looking cool, and offering not so much gameplay wise.

No. Activision fails at marketing.

Didn't say that it did. But there are definitely more than a few homages in WFC.

How is that? Marketing this early really doesn't cost them anything other than online costs. If anything, its good for them to market this early, since the movie just hit dvd and blu ray, and more people will remember Transformers now than in a year. I don't think many people are going to bother pre-ordering this early, but being before the christmas season, its a chance for high ROI sales.
