Weirdness and Transfans

There is more to Transformers than movies, cartoons, comics and toys. Discuss anything else Transformers here.

What do you mean by wierd? I dont really know but heres everything wierd about me:

I look at the sky for UFOs

I study Alien abduction stories (I wouldnt call it studying though.)

Every time I see an airplain I yell "UFO!"

I've seen about 4 real UFOs

Im scared of the dark

I sleep in my parents room at night (so does everyone else in my house. I have a 4 story house and everyone sleeps in the same room which is wierd.)

I speek Cybertronian

I collect TFs (obviously)

I only have 2 friends that arnt on the internet (And the second friend I just became friends with the other day!)

Two totally different movies are tied as my favorite movie of all time (Transformers ROTF and Sherlock Holmes)

I love Venom (the comic book character)

My favorite video game series is Sly Cooper (you could possibly justify why thats wierd)

I wrote my first movie script when I was 12. (We never performed it though.)

I like knives

I have a Keyblade in my room (The sword from Kingdom Hearts.)

I have almost every video game system ever (except for about 10)

I dont like to be outside

When Im in an open space I feel dizzy and cant swallow

I like to be in closed spaces

I never talk to people except for over the internet.

Im always mad

I hate everything (Excpet for TFs and some other things.)

Every time I do somthing wrong I beat the crap out of myself go cry in a corner and scream at myself. (possibly the wierest thing about me, or maybe Im just a perfectionist that just doesnt care.)

People in general scare me

I see the human race as undeveloped (Yeah wierd.)

Im paranoid about the end of the world even though I like thinking about it

I like bacon

Up until the 8th grade, used to get in trouble ALOT.

I screem at my computer when it freezes up while Im trying to make a video because the computers a piece of **** and I have to start over.

I dont like sports

My dog is a stoner

I dont cry (or seem to care) when people die

I like crumpets even though Im not British

I write movie scripts

I direct my own videos

I like Spiderman 3 more than the first 2.

Ok now Im just making up things that some people would consider normal. But there you go, everything wierd about me. 8-}

For the most part I find Transformers fans are pretty normal people but there is a HUGE split in temperment.

Some fans, the ones I like to associate with, are really accepting, fun, and all-around relaxed people who just like to nerd it up, talk about awesome robots and have a good time. They are some of the absolute best people I have met in my life.

Where as others seem to be super-judgemental, take themselves (and their toys, comics, whatever) WAY to seriously, are filled with rage and absolutely cannot deal with other people liking things they do not. It's okay to not like something, think something is odd or criticize something you don't like but when adults act like 2yo kids and start up with the "YOU'RE DUMB FOR SAYING/THINKING/LIKING _______!!! THIS IS WRONG/GROSS/STUPID!!!!!" That's a bit crazy.

For the record I'm totally cool with robosexuals. :KREMZEEK:

Why so sensitive?

Without passing judgement, if your goal is to confuse people about your gender and you accomplish your mission, it's hard to get offended if they use "that" or "it" since the English language doesn't have gender neutral pronouns for single persons.

I suppose you could just go around calling them a "person", but since the language...

oh wait...I don't care. Undergrad sociology class is over. I got a A. I don't care.

Especially since most people who are or chose to be gender neutral/swapped/both have an individualistic way they want to be described anyway.

I don't mean to seem sensitive, that was not my intent. Often people who dress in a manner often associated with the opposite sex are not doing so to "confuse people" (but also some could be) There are definitely issues with English having no gender-neutral pronouns for sure, we need to get on making one I think as IT and THAT are used for inanimate objects. It was probably not meant in any derogatory way, I'm sure it was all in good fun and I see their point, but I also think it's important for people to pay close attention to how they say things in an environment like an Internet forum where meaning is not always clear due to the absence of vocal or visual cues.(something I need to work on as well it seems) A person who dresses in unusual clothing or a transgendered ect. person might feel unwelcome here if they interpreted such a thing in a negative light.

Sorry to cause any trouble. I can delete the post if it's an issue.

Where I come from hardly anyone likes transformers as much as I do so to everyone around me it is weird and strange. Though, I don't find it weird nor do I judge others based upon their passions or hobbies due to how I was criticized and because I feel everyone is weird lol. We all have our own little quirks that make us who we are, some more then others but still. I'm just glad there are places like this where we can all gather with what we love. x3

Quickly everyone lets combine our weirdness to form...MEGAWEIRDNOR!!! lmao! (I know I suck at making names. XD )
We are so much more then mere machines, intelligent robots who think and feel. Yet, we have fell to greed and destruction by our own causes! From this moment I stand my own ground, on my own faction to achieve true unity! :CON:

Ayep.

Basically, yeah, TF fans are generally pretty sane when it comes to telling reality from fantasy, BUT there's a sizable number of fans who act like jackasses to everyone, and many of them are forum mods or "big-name-fans" to boot, so you can't ignore all of them.

There are times I'd rather take people who are dotty but friendlier.

Considering that I've dressed in drag several times myself, I certainly wasn't aiming to be offensive. "That" was not referring to the crossdressing community specifically. I was using 'that' as a catch-all for ALL the things I listed (boys dressed as girls, girls dressed as boys, people dressed as statues, animals, fairies, and some that just wear bodypaint.)

Sorry for the confusion.

I'm not generally considered normal by the majority. I'm not a nerd or a geek, I'm a metal-head so most people think I look scary or freaky.

Things that make me seem abnormal:
I'm over 30 and not fat. I am in fact muscular and very lean. I'm fit and exercise regularly but don't wear my shirt collars up. I don't even have shirts with collars!
I'm almost teetotal and eat healthily. These are all very strange things in the UK were getting pissed nightly and eating burgers and kebabs are the norm.
I have long glossy golden hair, wear black, often wear leather and yet I'm a Classical guitarist (you can see a short vid of me here). Even my playing is described as 'unusual'.
I have what most people would consider a huge collection of toys.
I have an unusual job: I teach guitar.
I cycle everywhere instead of driving.
I have a pet rat.

Slightly more normal things:
I interact with people socially and do it fairly well although admittedly I often feel out of place wherever I am.
I am a good dancer of salsa and bachata.
I have a pet rabbit.

So I don't fit in with the stereotypical image of rocker, Classical musician, fitness freak or toy fanatic.

I like to make candy

The old saying is people fear what they do not understand. Others who are not fans of transformers think we are robot loving freaks because they don't think a robot that transforms into a tape player or a gun is cool. I'll never understand humanities view on people and the judgment placed upon others like that because I believe it is pointless. People are people, either be big or small their still a person and have feelings like everyone else. Some..need a bit more attention then others but we are all equal, and if we aren't then we should be. Maybe if people started looking at whats the same instead of whats different well..maybe we'd be in a different place. x3 Weirdness..its in the eye of the beholder. XD

Well, if Zombie Starscream's weird...then I must be a freak.

I don't collect TF's (or any toy, for that matter) or any sort of comics; it's just not my thing. And I don't play video games anymore (though I will play something on the GameCube every now and then).

I wouldn't call myself a geek or a nerd either. Although I do have a weakness for fan fiction (Transformers, Invader Zim, Super Smash Brothers, Star Fox, Resident Evil. I tell ya now, games offer massive story potential!)...

Alright! I'm not the only one!

I'm pretty much like you. I literally dislike every single TV series, reality show, etc. that makes it way onto the idiot box. Seriously, I don't like any show.

Plus I find TV a major time-sucker. There ARE a very few shows that I might watch, but it is limited to seeing a few episodes only, and not an actual interest in that show.

Mostly I just like to read. (Online forums, articles, etc.) :P

I was a Trekkie for years before I was a Transfan. Now I'm both. That's a pretty heavy dose of geek right there. Of course, the fact that I'm a 19-year-old girl means that my geekiness is usually overlooked or forgiven.
That also means that I missed Transformers as a kid, and didn't get into the fandom until recently... so it's hard to find other Transfans my age... so I rarely get the chance to express my geekiness.

So, yeah, as a Trekkie, I know all about crazy fandoms. And crazy, elitist fans. I've been told I wasn't a "real" Trekkie because I watched and enjoyed more than just The Original Series. Then I was told I wasn't a "real" Trekkie because I called it "The Original Series" instead of "Classic Trek." Trekkies have GEEWUNs too!

We walk amung you in plain sight. XD

I came to it late also, mostly because of the birthdate. My uncle had a tape of the original so that is how I ended up seeing it. After that point I loved every transformer show after that. So even though I am only 23..it feels as if I have been an original fan because I was interested in the original show first and its first one I ever knew about. Other then that of seeing g1 I'm pretty much around the same age range. =o
We are so much more then mere machines, intelligent robots who think and feel. Yet, we have fell to greed and destruction by our own causes! From this moment I stand my own ground, on my own faction to achieve true unity! :CON:

Meh, normal is over rated.

Of course, some of the "squeeeee I WUBS DA LAMBO TWINS" fan girls need to go far far away somewhere without an internet connection and never come back.

One can have insanity AND dignity at the same time.

As a foot note, I like Rashka's snake.
Something memorable here.

OK, you are definitely weird!! :P

Zombie Starscream wrote:I don't watch TV (It's boring, and there is often more trash then treasure on it)

Alright! I'm not the only one!

I'm pretty much like you. I literally dislike every single TV series, reality show, etc. that makes it way onto the idiot box. Seriously, I don't like any show.

Not even Transformers?

Not even Transformers.

Nah, just kidding.

I lied...but only a little. There are a couple of shows I do like to watch.
