WFC - PC Version

Not sure if anyone can help, but I'm struggling to find any information relating to the PC version of Transformers: War for Cybertron? It states on both the Official website and wikipedia that WFC is being released on PC, however there is no information on it anywhere.

I live in Australia and tried to pre-order a PC version from my local retailers (JB Hifi and EB Games) however both said a PC version wasn't being released? I can see it on CD-Wow (http://www.cdwow.com.au/games/transform ... 21#bc=a591). Just wondering if PC is a delayed release or what?

Thanks. :???:

Hi Deadgirl,

I too am looking for the PC release for TF: WFC, but I have the (supposed) advantage of actually owning a Computer / Games store in Victoria!!

The good news is that according to everything I can find, the PC release SHOULD happen the same day as all other platforms (23rd for us)

The Bad news is, 4 out of the 5 distributors I've checked with (Incl. both Aust's largest supplier AND official Activision disto) didn't even know it's supposed to be out on PC!! and the 5th did know, but hadn't heard when it would be avail. 1 Sales rep actually INSISTED that they didn't make a PC version - until I emailed him the url to the website!! :BANG_HEAD:

I have heard that the game will be avail to download via Steam - in the meantime, I'm going to continue hunting down an Australian supplier...lemme know if you're interested and I'll order you in a copy thru my store if I have any luck!!

Good news and bad news. What you want first?

Too bad, you get the good news first. There IS a PC version of the game. I have it as proof (and the gamer guide).

Bad news. I don't know anything about out-of-states releases for it. I'm sure all versions are released on the same day for each respective country (or region...or whatever).

The rest of the world will see it's release this Friday, according to Steam. It will not unlock any codes or sales until Friday for the UK, Australia, and the rest of the world.

The US got first dibs.

23rd in Australia ... probably a week later for it to get to me.

Yay.

Autobot032, you got your copy yet and taken it for a spin? I want to know if it's worth getting for the PC or just upgrading my net connection and getting a PS3.

No, I haven't. I was going to, but now that HFTD and Generations are starting to hit stores, they are my first priority. Plus, it'll give Activision and Big Moon Studios a chance to patch the game.

Here's the general consensus on the PC version:

It's a terrible console port.

Pros:

Doesn't require an absolute powerhouse PC to run it because it's based on the Unreal 3 engine. (NVidia 8800 series cards do not run it though. So you'll need at least a 9000 series or better with 256 mb or above.)

Does use the XBox 360 controller, if you so wish.

No long, drawn out system to create an online account. (I heard that it's literally as easy as picking a screen name and just going for it. No password required.)

Pretty much identical to the console versions, but costs $20.00 less.

Cons:

Campaigns are way too short. (Some people have beaten the entire game in less than 10 hours.)

The colors and contrast sometimes make it difficult, and darn near impossible to see the backgrounds and foregrounds. (And you need to, because there's ammo strewn about.)

Locked at 30 FPS. (Now some find this problematic, I do not. That means it should be blown away by most video cards. Plus if you use a HDTV, the TV's automatically set at 60-120 FPS (depending on the set.)

Locked at 720p (console and PC).

No customizable controls. (I think you're stuck with either the arrows or WASD, I can't remember which, but you cannot customize it for your style of playing. Same goes for the controller. It's locked in on the 360 keyset.)

Sometimes, connecting to the server can be a bit challenging. Like it's overloaded and you have to wait to be queued in. Other times, you get in with no problem.

No DLC is currently planned for the game at this time. (Doesn't mean they won't change their minds in the future, or that a patch won't be available.)

Since we have a slew of figures coming (HFTD Bumblebee, Starscream, Generations Drift, Bumblebee, etc,) plus I have preorders of FansProject stuff and TRNS-01....I'll have to wait a while before I buy the game.

And that's fine by me. I want to see if they work the kinks out, or add content to it, before I plunk down $40.00 TransFormers or not, I really don't need buyer's remorse right now.

All in all, I'd say most people are definitely swayed by the game and recommend it, but there are quite a few naysayers who say the stuff that's lacking, is enough to kill it for them.

I'm going to go PC, regardless, I have to, but if you have the choice, I'd maybe wait it out a bit and see which version tops the rest.

I own the game for the PC and I disagree that its a Terrible port.

Its a very fun game you maybe able to finish it in 10 hours but you can go through it again and again picking a differenct character to play and changing the game a bit. But the real replay vaule is the online, I have heard people run through it again in co-op for a whole new experiance.

I dont have any issues with the FPS rate being only 30, I dont see the big deal really.
The non custom controls some people hate but others have found free third party stuff to fix that, I dont mind the controls that are set they are very comfortable for me.
Time will tell with the DLC...the consles may not get more then they got either.
The online connect issues seem to be across all systems not just PC.

The only major flaw I found was that there is not in game chat...but I hope that with the large community we have we can find other ways.

I really feel like this game is getting a bad name from some really hardcore gamers, mind you thats not me. It feels to me like when a Mac user bashes a PC user...

Overall I really like the game its loads of fun for me, I guess some folks were looking for more.

Hmmm...While WFC IS on Steam, it would appear to be unavailable to people in Australia. Not only that, but it would appear that it's a violation of Steam's EULA for US users to use Steam's "Gift" Function to send Aussie players a copy over the internet :(

I will be ringing Activision Australia again on Monday to say "Guys! WFC! WTF?!?"

...worse still, I hear New Zealand isn't getting the game at all...

Someone found a way to unlock the FPS so it wont limit it to 30....

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1330266

Citizens of Cybertron,

Behold - FPS unlocker thanks to Psyche.

TWFC_FPS_Unlocker.zip
- Link should work

How does it work?
- Open the program and leave it open. Then load T:WFC. Make sure NUMLOCK IS ON. Then, press 0 on the numpad to toggle between capped and uncapped FPS

Please rep and sticky this thread, while I was NOT IN ANY WAY responsible for writing this patch, I took a great deal of time and some cost in having to find, convince and contact in order to help the T:WFC community purely out of their own free will.

* I take no responsiblity if this file destroys your computer in some intergalatic time warp of colliding universes*

Quick Q & A

Q: Have you used the patch?
A: Yes, it works both single player and multiplayer

Q: Is it truly uncapped?
A: Yes - I reached 120fps throughout on my acer true 120hz screen.

Q: Is it stable?
A: I played online for 3 hours without a hitch on a Win 7, i7 gtx 470 machine

Q: Can I trust this file?
A: Any diligent user should have anti-virus software/spyware programs to check. The author of the code is Psych;

CheatScapes - Same Game, New Possibilities

His contact e-mail details are also in the patch and further, he has been quick and responsive in contact and quite respected.

Also I have not tired it yet...
