There are a lot of ways to go with this, but basically I'm looking for your thoughts on what the most overpriced Transformers ever are, especially in relation to their "cool factor."

I have to think BotCon Nightracer is right up there. Pretty much every other version of the mold can be found for $10 or less (sometimes even carded depending on the fig) while Nightracer goes for hundreds of bucks. Other than being a fembot (figure-wise I think this was a first) it was an exclusive made back before Transfans even collected exclusives.

While that was the first one that came to mind, I know there are a lot more out there.

A piece Transformer merchandise in general or are you looking specifically for toys?

'cause there was that Optimus Prime statue/maquette thing that was selling for over 1k a year or two ago... wondering if it's coming back out becasue of BBTS's listing date, not that I'd ever buy it. Seen it in person though (at NYCC), it's pretty cool.

He's only $400.00 on ebay right now.
However, a MIB Car Robots Brave Maximus is $850.00
100% Complete Fortress Maximus is going for $1,399.99 loose.
MIB Black Zarack is going for, wait for it...
$3,699.99!!!
So, G1 Grandus suddenly doesn't look so hot. These figure's prices Def. Vary from product to product, but for one thats 100% Complete? Your gonna pay out the ass. BTW, not a transformer, but the USS Flagg is worth an honerable mention. $899.00.
Not as much as this other stuff, but it's a really nice toy, and it's MASSIVE, you'll know once you see one in person, it's like a navy decorated coffee table!
hence the happy dance!

I recall having an argument with Counterpunch about this when I was still fresh and new...I said Botcon exclusives were overpriced, he said that a huge amount of work went into producing a limited run figure like that, I said that regardless of the work, the customer is still paying $50-$400 dollars for something that, in different colours, is available on the shelf for $10 and so on.

That said, Darkside Megatron commands a hell of a lot of money for a retool of a mediocre voyager.

Actually, that's not a bad at all price for a conmplete Flagg...and considering that sucker is over 7 feet long, I don't consider that expensive at all. For reference, what is Fort Max, 2 and a half feet tall?
