Diego Marani - New Finnish Grammar

Meeting the author on Wednesday, and the book has been nominated for the Independent Foreign Fiction Prize, so might as well give it a read!

EDIT: Now on Tony Kushner - Angels in America

Just finished Craig Thompson'a Habibi. Exquisite piece of graphic storytelling.
Seriously recommended.

Also finished The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, by Michael Chabon. And it lives up to its title! Great piece of prose for any comic book reader.

Need to finally get through the end of A Once and Future King, by T.H. White, but also have to read some Lévi-Strauss and C.G. Jung.

Working on "Last days of Krypton" (Not the town from Kentucky) and it sheds some light on the, well, last days of Krypton and I am loving every moment of it.

I am thinking about reading The Lord of the Rings next, but I am unsure.

How is that? Understanding Comics is a brilliant piece of seminal work in Comics Studies.
Does the sequel live up to it?

Never read Understanding Comics(But i want to,after hearing what everyone said about this book),so i can't make a comparision.
The book is very interresting with many informations of how to build a comic what kind of choices you can make.
The book covers the transitions of panel to panel(and the pages themselfs),narritive, making characters, building worlds, what kind of tools you can use, styles of comics and many others.
It very fascinating the way he see and displays his thoughs.
A very worth read. ;)^

Fun fact one of the chapters talking about online comics was made online!

I'll definitely have a look, could be seriously useful for my PhD. Thanks!

Just finished Fables vol. 4 and Alice in Sunderland, found in the library yesterday.

Transformers: Chaos arrived this morning, so that's my evening read sorted!

Really really should get back into the books I should be reading though...

A Criminal Investigation book. I miss reading some good fiction, though.

Fulgrim by Graham McNeill.

It's kinda strange. There's a lot about the Emperor's Children that I really like, but I've never been fussed on Fulgrim himself. Let's see if Mr. McNeill can change all that...

After seeing the excellent portrayal of Long John Silver by Eddie Izzard, I went back to R.L.Stevenson's Treasure Island.

Also picked up more comics from the library, and now have Batman: Knightfall and Batman vs Bane in preparation for the 20th!

I don't enjoy double posting, but no one else seems to have said anything in a while.

Finished Dan Simmons' Hyperion, on to the sequel Fall of Hyperion.
Seriously recommended for any SF reader, I'm astonished it took me this long to discover them.

Reading The Burning Soul by John Connolly at the moment.

Thought I'd take a break from the 40K universe. And Dean Koontz.

But not for long...

"The Affair" by Lee Child.

A Reacher novel!

I'm thrilled that there is a Jack Reacher movie coming out soon. Not thrilled that they cast Tom Cruise to portray him. Eddie Mclintock is the clear choice for JR IMO.

Man, I went batsheet insane today. I ended up buying six novels from my local Games Workshop. It felt like I stormed in there and pillaged the joint.

Gosh, what did I pick up? Ah, that's right. Architect of Fate, The Emperor's Gift, and four Horus Heresy novels, The Primarchs, Fear to Tread, Shadows of Treachery, and Angel Exterminatus.

The problem now is, where should I start? lol I'm thinking Angel Exterminatus, 'cause I can't seem to get enough of the Horus Heresy. Plus it'd be nice to see Perturabo in action.

That book is bloody brilliant! Neil Gaiman at his best (in prose).

Just remembered that one of the things I was reading recently is Fred Van Lente and Ryan Dunlavey's Comic Book History of Comics. Really entertaining and enlightening.
Nice to see McCloud's (among others) example being followed by other writers and artists.
