The only thing I have read to date by Terry Pratchett was Good Omens which was co-written with Neil Gaiman (of whom I am a huge fan). Good Omens had a very Hitch Hiker's Guide to the galaxy feel in the way it reads (at least to me...).

If you haven't read any of his (Neil Gaiman) stuff, I would recommend Neverwhere, Stardust, and most recently I read the Ocean at the of the Lane, which was really good.

Just finished Robert Jordan's Eye of the World. I also got most of the TPB graphic novel series for Christmas; the sixth and final one came out last week. So I'm going to start on those pretty soon, but right now I'm reading The Fall of Rome: And the End of Civilization by Bryan Ward-Perkins.

I just finished reading The Hobbit. Great ending to the book. Smaug the dragon was finally defeated. But there are so many differences in the book and the live action movie that it's too horrible to recount. There were so many more dwarves on the journey than just eight. And Gollum was blind in the book.

I've started reading the first book of lord of the rings, The Fellowship of the Ring. Just a half a century after The Hobbit's events, it's a great middle part of the third age of middle earth.

At the beginning of the month I read The Probability Broach by L. Neil Smith. It is a very timeless book as it brings up some really good points on Government. I highly recommend you all to read it.

It's funny I was thinking of posting in here today and then I get a notice that someone has posted....maybe it's a sign.

The Probability Broach eh? The plot sounds interesting enough I may give it a go after the book I am about to read... The Globe by Terry Pratchett.

I just finished The Hydrogen Sonata by Ian M. Banks which I can not completely pass judgmet on as it is part of a series and I will need to get the beginning of the series for back story and such. It was an interesting read as sci fi novels go....but I'll see if the other Culture series books are interesting and fill in any gaps for me.

More Pratchett is always good Pratchett. :(

I'm re-reading Harris' series, currently on Hannibal - just in time for the third season of the Fuller TV adaptation. :D

1 of my favorite series! The book ended so much better than the movie. I still like the movie, though.

Me, I'm reading Life Expectancy by Dean Koontz. He writes some weird stuff. I like weird stuff.

Finally got to read War of the Worlds after being unable to find it in my library for months. Now I'm working on Nineteen Eighty-Four, which is... kinda spooky.

I haven't read either one since I was in grade school. Hell, it's probably been damn near 30 years. I should read them again.

1984 is a great read.

I'm reading 'The Abominable' by Dan Simmons and 'Soul Music' by Terry Pratchett.

GOOD choices. Simmons's Hyperion Cantos are my favouritest sci-fi book pretty much ever.

I'm catching up on my poetry, bought two books yesterday (Kate Clanchy and Kate Tempest), though on my ongoing reading pile is Andrea Tarabbia, La Calligrafia Come Arte Della Guerra and Rachel Cusk Outline.

Have you read 'Illium' and 'Olympus' by Simmons? I'm still not sure if Hyperion is better. Both stories blew my mind.

About 1/4th of the way through Star Colony by Keith Laumer. It's interesting so far, can kinda see some 1960-1970's sci-fi influence in the writing, which makes sense since it was written in 1981 when the author was 55 or 56.

I haven't yet, but they're on my list of 'friend has mentioned that I need to borrow them off her'. :D

I'm currently reading a heartbreaking collection of fiction and non-fiction by Marina Keegan. The Opposite of Loneliness. Truly stunning writing.

Finished 1984. I take it most people probably find "always watching you" the scariest part, but what struck me most was 'Newspeak' cutting down language so people can't even think independently.

Also read Animal Farm, which felt kinda like a condensed version of 1984.

Gonna start on H.G. Wells' The Invisible Man next.... eventually.

Been reading political/spy/action/adventure thrillers, most notably Tom Clancy and Clive Cussler. Currently working on the former's The Hunt For Red October and Against All Enemies, and the latter's Atlantis Found.

Also, sci-fi as well, mostly Star Trek. Just finished Star Trek: The Worlds of Deep Space Nine series.

Yeah, that one would be a re-read, as I bought this fancy version of the book for my shelf.
