my vote would go with animated because its more rounded. and you can count on none of them being shellformers. i feel nuetral towords the bayformers, but some i want to warm shelves for years, and i dont like starscream movieverse toy's, not even starscream himself in that series. so anyway say which is better here, and FOR GODS SAKES CLICK ON THE EGGS IN MY SIGNATURE!!!
so i pick animated. what do YOU?

bought a few movieverse, because they're a lot easier to fit into a classics collection. don't have any animated, but they looked like much more impressive and fun toys.
assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.
Also looking for Universe Repugnus and Overbite, Frostbite and Longhorn and any Webdiver toys.

The movieverse was what got me back into collecting, and have definitely more of.

But I do love some Animated pieces, and I own Swindle, Shockwave and Oil Slick.
Might eventually get Soundwave, even if just because of the guitar.

I think the movies do a great job of getting the altmode spot on, but that does mena having the spikey, skeletal robot modes that a lot of people complain about. Animated, on the other hand, has a smoother, more streamlined aesthetic for both modes.

Hm. Hard to choose, really.
I'll go for Prime, which incorporates both elements. Image

i love both a lot. so it is hard to pick which one i like more. but if i had to, i like animated more. their transformations are very smooth and fun, while movie toys were very gimmicky and a lot of transformations were not fun and were a pain in the ass. also, i loved the animated cartoon more than the 3 movies.

Of Animated, I own

Voyager Optimus
Deluxe Cybertronian Optimus
Voyager Megatron
Blitzwing
Lugnut
Grimlock
Rodimus
Cybertronian Ratchet
Freeway Jazz
Arcee
Lockdown
BotCon 2011 Stunticons

Of the movie-verse, I own

2007 Voyagers Blackout and Megatron
RoTF Leaders Optimus Prime, Jetfire, and Megatron
RoTF Voyager Megatron
HftD Leader Starscream
DotM Leaders Sentinel and Ironhide
DotM Voyagers Optimus, Megatron and Shockwave
DotM Deluxes Specialist Ratchet, 3 versions of Optimus, and Laserbeak

I like the Animated toys better generally, because they're more colorful and look better on the shelf, but I think the Leaders in the movie lines are top notch toys out of any line.

I loved both too, but it was ROTF that really brought me back in to collecting. I only bought a lot of animated during the drought period (nothing of interest to me).

If I have to really choose, movieverse for me.

I hate the Animated aesthetic. The toys fail to capture the impossibly tiny waists etc. so actually look better for not being show accurate. I bought a few (with gift vouchers so I didn't pay anything) but most seemed to have such poor articulation (monkey arms ruins a figure) that I wouldn't go near them, even for free!

Movie: I love 'em, although there are still plenty of uggos I passed on.

I vote for movieverse. It's amazing how the toy designers managed to recreate the toys for the TF's in the movies with such respectable accuracy, given that the CG designs themselves were never meant to be actually transformable in the first place.

I like TFA too, but a lot of the movieverse toys are just awe inspiring. ROTF leader class OP FTW!

Animated. >:oP

I own neither, and also find it ironic how Takara Tomy tried to connect the two together. But when it comes to everything from backgrounds to character designs, there have been times when I was tempted to dish out the extra money for an "Animated" Arcee. :BOOM:

However, I did not due to her lackluster role in the series. :BANG_HEAD: And while both are on the far bottom of my collection wants and needs... Animated will always be 1 or 2 slots above the Movieverse stuff. >:oP

"Which is better toys? Movieverse or Animated?"

What kind of question is that? Both are high quality toys from Hasbro/Takara.

Asking this is like asking what is the better pie? Cherry or apple? It's just a pointless and stupid question because you cannot in your right mind tell what is the BEST.

The question you should have asked is "What toys do you LIKE BEST between Animated and Movieverse."

Even then, WHAT movieverse? The 2007 line is a very unique beast on it's own with it's simple desings and transformations. Many even have a very classic feel to them. RotF and DotM are similar enough to put in the same boat.

Ranting aside, I prefer the RotF and DotM toys over the Animated ones. I love the complex desings and the overall looks better. Maybe the fact that I came back in Transformers by the time of the end of the RotF line, it help for me to prefer the movie toys because all my Animated toys were bought off Ebay. I never saw any in store.
Animated have some awesome desings like Bulkhead, Soundwave, Ultra Magus, and Optimus Prime. Still, there some poopy one too like deluxe Bumblebee (the activator is WAY better) and Voyager Starscream. Both suffer from the "parts popping-off all over the place during transformation" syndrome. Also, I want that Animated Blackout.

Still, The movie toys have so much awesome it's almost unfair. The Human Alliance figures, the leader class, most deluxes... hell, about 75% of the movie toys I bought impressed me to no end without any buyer remorse.

But to come back to what is the "best toys"? For a little kid to play with until oblivion, I'd call Animated because of the more cartoony desings and simpler transformations.

You missed the entire Animated and all the Movie lines?!
Lemme tell you, you missed out a lot. All these lines have amazing toys. If you have favorite characters, try getting these from the lines you missed, just to have a little taste. Then, create a thread asking what you should get. I bet a lot of people will be glad to help!

Well... Lets see.

I wrote that while being sick with possible food poisoning. So my judgement on that part was not entirely there.

As for the other part... There is a simple explanation:

I currently rebooted my attempts at collecting Transformers. And at my current standing, I own seven MISB pieces that I plan to submit to AFA. And with my want list, I am hoping to luck out by getting two more (with one passing through my fingers due to my lack of funds at the time) and maybe seek out older MISB pieces if possible.

Oh... And two of the figures I own are less than I paid for at TFsource. It annoys my OCPD, as it likes profits and whatnot, but I guess getting AFA worthy pieces need some sacrifices... Right? >:oP And right now, when I buy anything, I base it on a few factors: Series, company, availability, character, character role, and a few other tidbits.

Yet, while I had different reasons for each character, I also have the same reasons not to buy certain variations of those characters... As well other reasons. For example, I cannot get myself to want a non-G2 version of Convoy, I will not own Hasbro labeled Transformers due to QC issues I faced in the past, and there are series among the Takara line (ex. United) that made me lose interest for specific reasons.

As with the movie line, I grew up when the Generation 1 line was brand spanking new. But that is not the reason why I skipped these. I skipped them simply because of the fact that there were absolutely no characters I liked. That might change with Transformers 4, but it is very unlikely. Simply put, the movies had never won me over... And I felt no attachment to any of the characters.

And with Animated, it is a different story. I was prepared to pay premium for Arcee. At the time, I was thinking how great the character sounds, and how her role might have been as great. Then, I actually got to see her scenes and chose to pass. Simply because they did not allow me a chance to get to know the character, which did not set well with me due to her rarity. Plus, I am still thinking about picking up Grimlock... But I do need to see his episodes, and decide if I like him as much as I liked the G1 version )when I was a kid).

So yeah... Atop of that, I made my judgments on both series because I did give both series the same respect I gave all other series. However, mind you, the movie line had nothing I liked. And while the Animated line had more, I guess I was looking for more of a new Headmasters series... And got that with the Arms Micron line.

Oh... And I might be asking for help, even though I am picky about package condition and so on. However, my collection (as scarce as it sounds) is one I am willing to share with those who want to know what they are and why I got them. >:oP

But i still would prefer classic/generations/fall of cybertron over everthing else, i like toys that remind of the G1/G2 and other characters of the 1980's-1990's

There both totally different you can't compare them maybe classics and animated might have been a better choice but i would have to choose movie i have something stupid like 200 of them to 1 animated figure had i been collecting at the time animated was out it might have been different.

But even now knowing what animated figures i could buy i would probably only buy another two were as if i just started on movie i would still buy a **** load.

I own most of the animated figures. I like them a lot. They are relatively ready to transform and they are great g1 throwbacks. Sure they have a funky look to them, but they are great figures.
When the first movie came out, I bought one of each of the on screen figures. My interest on them quickly wore off. After the first movie, I only bought the leader class figures. They are incredible display pieces.
My vote goes to animated.

I own far more movie-verse figures but that's simply because the movie verse had 3 lines.... well, more if you count the likes of HftD. I like the movie-verse for their more realistic approach on appearance, but I also like Animated's for the sheer simplicity.

So I do think it's a little hard to compare the two, based on the drastic differences, not just in the ascetics, but their transformations too. One is far more complicated than the other, depending on the figures in question of course.

But if I had to choose a favorite, Animated is my choice. I love the show and it's utterly cartoony nature and I thoroughly enjoy how that came through in the toys.

I don't know if I'll buy more movie-verse toys for the 4th film. Maybe. But I'm burnt out with that line right now and can't see myself buying more than, perhaps, the main cast... if they look different enough from the past 3 films to warrant it.

Animated, no contest. While some movie stuff have very high detail level, HasTak was too lazy to paint them, plus plastic quality and show accuracy stand in Animateds side too.

The other thing that just lets you down is one figure, that I HATE: RotF Wheelie. WORST. FIGURE. EVER.

Depends on what you're after, both are excellent lines.

Though one thing to note is that Movieververse has more characters in different scales, allowing more choices.

Animated was QC problem city, and the Bayverse toys were genuinely alright for meuntil post-ROTF. Ultimately I just like Animated much more due to the aesthetic and the ease of customization. And just the broad amount of characters in it's continuity.
