Who is Megatron's best successor in your opinion?

What Decepticon that has not been Decepticon leader would be the best successor to Megatron?

Hmmm, that's a tricky one because all of the candidates have staged coups at some time or another, I mean off the top of my head the follwoing have all led the Decepticons:

Shockwave
Soundwave
Starscream
Thunderwing
Bludgeon
Galvatron
Ratbat

Outside of these, Ravage has always impressed me. In the comics at least, he is very sharp and perceptive, and talked Shockwave out of his broken logic-loop funk during the (sadly now non-canon) Timewars saga.

Razorclaw. Cunning, smart, fierce and strong, he's already a group leader. I think he would make a good Decepticon leader, and with the other Predacons around, it would be hard to overthrow him.

I could say the same for Onslaught as well, except with Combaticons, of course.

But I would pick the Predacons/Predaking over the Combaticons/Bruticus any day.

And IIRC, Soundwave was never a leader in the comics at least. Unless I'm missing out...?

Yeah good shout on Razorclaw and his cronies, they would certainly instil fear. As far as Soundwave being leader he was briefly in the UK comics, alongside Starscream. Mind you it was in 'Earthforce' continuity which is awkward to place anywhere that makes is canonical with the rest of G1.

Even in death, there is no command but Megatron's.

Doesn't count. It's the same guy, just a little stronger and a whole lot more psychotic.

OK Straxus then. He was a nutjob and had the audacity to take over Megatron's mind and nick half of his best stories.

I thought we were picking characters who were never leaders before in any continuity.

Cyclonus. he held the cons together untill they retrieved Galvatron. unless that counts as him leading though...if it does then id have to say SixShot. Only reason was i always really liked him :)

You are right. We can always do a "what Decepticon leader with short reigns should have been leaders longer" thread later.

My vote goes with Razorclaw.

Besides, if the G1 Predacons and the Beast Wars Predacons are related, then he kinda sorta is Megatron's successor.

Straxus. Even Megs didn't want to mess with him, basically let Straxus have his own little province/county/whatever to govern as he saw fit.

I second G1 Cyclonus. He's got all the qualities of a leader, including undying loyalty, which is the reason he never overthrew Galvatron.

Steve!

Seriously: G1 Cyclonus and G1 Soundwave.

While I could see Cyclonus as a leader, I don't really think Soundwave has the chops. Soundwave functions as a spy and a comm. officer. And while he is so good at his job that Megs uses him to collect "dirty laundry" on the other 'Cons, Soundwave is the espionage type, not the leader type, imo.

As for a successor, we already know the answer to this one: Razorclaw.

Razorclaw refused to accept the terms of the Pax Cybertronia, and went rogue. He forged a new group of Predacons and led them, with the intention of taking their rightful place as the rulers of Cybertron. He survived an assassination attempt by the Tripredacus Council and continues to quietly manipulate events, at least up until the events of the Beast Wars cartoon.

Razorclaw could've laid down his arms. He might've been granted amnesty at the war's conclusion. Instead, he chose to pursue his rightful destiny of galactic conquest, as a Con should.

Rejecting the established order and striking out on one's own, even if it means war, is always how Megatron began. It is also how the founder of the Predacons reacted to the strict demands of new Autobot rule.

Hail Razorclaw, the founder of the Predacons and new Emperor of Destruction!

I'd like to see Trypticon in charge. Not the cartoon version, but the version from the UK comics - calculating, intelligent and vengeful. If he could get over his own self-loathing he would be an unstoppable leader.

Thinking of a character from the G1 cartoon, I'd have to say Blitzwing. The way he faces down Galvatron in Five Faces of Darkness was an act worthy of a leader if ever there was one, IMHO

Although technically they were never supposed to exist together at the same time. I liked the Beast Wars Megatron. Cunning, Calculated, and always 2 steps ahead. He took his title as the next Megatron very very seriously. He even housed the original spark of Megatron for a brief time. I think that warrants a Vote +1.
