STARSCREAM
Starscream is my number one choice. He's sly, full of himself, very intelligent, and he usually get things going his way. His robot mode is very cool so is his jet/spaceship mode.

It take a lots of guts to say blatantly to Megatron "Watch your back. The moment you screw up, I WILL be the Decepticons leader."
He's also VERY difficult to get rid of.
G1 Starscream is funny and entertaining. Too bad when he finally got rid of Megatron, his rule was very short lived.

I'm currently downloading Armada and Energon so I have yet to see how is Starscream in there.

In Galaxy Force (Cybertron) Starscream have (at least in the Japanese version) a bad-ass voice. He's way more subtle in this series. And in this one, not only he manage to be Supreme Leader, he also become some kind of GOD. It took everything to take him down!

In Prime, he Killed Cliffjumper.

In Animated, he's a major torn in Megatron's side. Even creating clones and becoming immortal!

The only sad thing is the very VERY small role in the Bay's movies. In the first movie, they got his voice very wrong, but it was only a small line. In the second, it was right, but his role was minimal. Please, more Starscream in the third movie? Pretty please?

Unicron Trilogy Sideways

He was able to trick everybody, shapeshift... and then do it all over again 20 years later. Amazing really.

I'm partial to Starscream. It's always fun to watch him scheme his way to the top.

Well, I'm not sure if he really counts but I like G1 Bruticus.
But for actual villainy, I think BW Megatron is one of the best, he's always been my favorite.

Going to have go go with Beast-Megs on this, he's equal parts evil, threatening, incompetent and funny. Just the right balance.

Screamer's cool too though.

I must say Shockwave from the G1 comics. Ruthless, calculating, and unbeatable. He beat the crap out of all the Dinobots at once, pretty much bitch slapped Megatron (though Megs wasn't at full health), then tricked Megatron into nearly blowing himself up with the space bridge after he caused Megs to snap, then he survived a fall from outer space through Earth's atmosphere, followed by his return and 2-issue brawl with Scorponok, which ended in a tie, then he schemed with Starscream to steal the Ark as the rest of the Transformers fought Unicron, and was finally(?) taken out by both Megatron and Galvatron, though his death wasn't shown, so it cannot be definite. (I never read the UK comics, so I don't know if this was addressed) Galvatron was crazy, and Megatron just got out of the Nucleon chamber, so he may not have been at full strength. The only clear defeat of Shockwave I can recall is when he got thrown into a swamp by Optimus Prime to end a battle. But it still didn't destroy him. Didn't even slow him down. He was back 2 issues later.

Comic Shockwave = Total Decepticon Badass.

As for the cartoon, I think I'll go with Beast Megatron as well, just because he was so despicable. Assassinating a deactivated Optimus Prime in the past in order to change the future? Pure evil. Pure genius. But still not even close to comic Shockwave.

I must also give honorable mention to BM Tankor/Rhinox just because his turn was so shocking, original and divisive. It certainly was one of the very few good points BM had.

"Divisive" is certainly one way to put it!

But yes, I remember the "Oh god what" moment I had as a kid. And calling up my friend who I knew was also watching it at his house. "Tankor is who???"
