Who's Having Fun with Fall of Cybertron?

I am having an absolute blast with the game. The campaign in great, and has a ton of variety, it's also challenging and makes you have to think about how you engage the enemy. Rushing headlong into a group of enemies like you could get away with in WFC will more than likely get you killed. Using your different forms and cover, as well as abilities and weapons and upgrades from the Teletraan Store to your advantage is key, and vital if you want to survive. And I can't tell you how awesome it feels to play as Grimlock! :) Voice acting is superb, with several great lines, and there's also plenty of stunning visual set pieces.

For multiplayer, I love the customization, I can truly make my own character that stands out from the rest. The combat is over the top crazy fun, which I think suits giant robot combat, especially the Transformers. There are 10 maps that are all very different, but nice to explore and fun to fight on. There are not as many game modes, only four, and I miss deathmatch, but oh well. There is Team Deathmatch, Conquest, Capture the Flag, and Head Hunter. We all know the other three modes quite well, being classic game types in multiplayer games. Head Hunter, however, requires you to kill enemies and take their Sparks, then drop them off at a node to score points. It's like Kill Confirmed in MW3 you could say, only you have to do something besides just pick up the "dogtags" (Sparks).

Escalation is fun, but you really have to work as a team if you want to get far. Just getting past Wave 1 on any difficulty is a challenge. It would be nice to be able to choose any character you want, but High Moon made it to where each character fulfills a specific role, which is okay with me. Every team has a fighter that's meant to take the most punishment and dish it, a medic with a heal beam, a support character with a sentry turret, and another support character that provides an ammo beacon with a damage boost. enemy AI and strength are no joke, in the later waves there are enemies who can annihilate you if you aren't careful. There's only fifteen waves, but they get so hard that you'll probably be relieved when it's over. Key to survival here is to stay together, keep moving, and keep getting new weapons and abilities to aid you. All in all, I'm liking this new Escalation a little better than WFC's, though it was also fun seeing how many waves you could conquer.

Overall, I have been getting more enjoyment out of FoC than I did WFC, and I loved that game. Sure, there can be some technical glitches like the last games, and there are a few things from WFC that were omitted that I miss, but the more I play and have fun I start to forget about those small gripes. In my opinion, FoC takes a 9/10, it's great fun and fan service, and would even be enjoyable for the non-TF fan.

How about you guys?

Minor spoilers**

The cliffjumper/jazz missions were my favorite..Until I got to the Dinobot missions. When Slag crashed through the door and said" Excuse me" ...I literally stood up and clapped and praised Teig and the gang at HMS..That was awesome..Seeing Shockwave get his arm tore off as well..Man, they did a good job of delivering the fan service..

The FOC deathmatch has some perks with larger boards and better weapons, but they took out some of the good things that made WFC Team Deathmatch great.
No double jumps with characters, the Melee really sucks, the feel of the vehicles and while in robot form isn't as tight as in WFC. No vehicle abilities?? WTF!! I really enjoyed WFC and was looking forward to FOC and honestly I'm disappointed .... Upgrade WFC with new boards and weapons but keep the strength of the gameplay and control of WFC!! :CON:

I've only played up to Chapter 2 ( with Megaplex helping Prime ) and already I am loving this game. I was a big fan of WFC before but I gotta say so far something about this game is more engaging. I have not experienced the "let down" , "boredom" or "repetitive" game moments yet. Can't wait to finish the campaign and get on with the multiplayer which was a favorite of mine in WFC. The epic sounding music is also a huge plus. Overall great job by High Moon studios and kudos from me.

I been playing Transformers Fall Of Cybertron tonight. Caved and bought it at lunch time. Done the first 2 or 3 levels, mostly playing as Optimus Prime. Maybe it's just because I most recently played the original game with friends, on super-easy, but it feels a little harder, or my robots feel a little weaker. Either way, I think I'm dying more. Not too much though, and thankfully never in bits that seem too easy. Granted, there are a fair few of those. Am playing on normal difficulty, and find that some bits go through ridiculous hand-holding and scripted-ness to becoming...not completely random, but certainly requiring a higher level of concentration and reflexes, that up since 6am me is currently not capable of.

It's difficult to put my finger on the changes made to the gameplay since the last one. A few obvious ones, the lack of a double jump now, for example, but for all the similarities, it somehow feels different. Not necessarily in a bad way, mind, but I'm taking a little while getting used to it. That goes for multiplayer too. I jumped into that for an hour or so just now, after getting to a new level in solo mode.

Played good old Conquest, and it's as fun as ever (meaning, it's great fun when you do well, and less so when the other guys are really bloody good!) but the maps are greatly improved. Well, they're greatly embiggened. I'll reserve full judgement til I've played more. Of course, the whole thing looks much nicer, and the customisation options available are pretty great. Barring a few bits and bobs that need to be unlocked at a specific level, the aesthetic side of it is just that. Okay, you've got to buy everything but the two starter bodies for each class, but the parts are cheap. Levelled 2 classes to 6 or 7 and got enough space-robot-cash to mix and match enough cool bits to make each of my 4 bots look pretty spiffy. Weapons and abilities are unlocked automatically as you level, as are additional builds for each class. Could be quite grindy, but honestly, I played half a dozen matches and it didn't seem to take long at all, and was a fair bit of fun doing it.

DLC seems to be mostly for the MP side of things. At release there's a pack of different robot parts for use in MP, with them being quite tempting, even though they're essentially pointless. Actually, this is the sort of thing I like, since it doesn't give people with extra money any gameplay advantage. Ultra Magnus and Wheeljack modes are making me consider the purchase. After that we get Dinobots. Not sure how that'll work, but...they're probably going to sell pretty good, and if you log on a day or two after they're released I expect it'll be like a Cybertronian remake of Jurassic Park. After that, it seems all the pre-order bonus stuff getting bundled together, and there is some of that only useable in single player. Will have to see how replayable the main game is for me to bother with that.

I'm having loads of fun. Having the time to play as much as I want. That's another story.

I'm a big MP player, but WfC MP just wasn't for me. It was missing something. Not sure what, but I'm loving FoC MP. They seemed to get a lot right. Host migration still blows, but at least it doesn't drop you out of the game entirely. I don't understand how I can play any of the major MP games out there and never notice when someone comes or goes. FoC, though, takes you out of the game for a good minute or two before finally finding someone new to be the host. Then, of course, there's the chance of losing all progress in the level and it just restarts. MP is fun, but the behind the curtain stuff needs to be rethought.

I can't recommend this game enough if you don't have it yet. My only fear is the Dinobot DLC will only be available in Escalation. I see absolutely no reason that it can't be used in normal MP, but I still fear it won't be available. Plus, where are the fembots? You already made the models for WfC. Is this new one really so different that they can't be added into at least escalation? They have this nonsense that they aren't compatible due to the body part customization. There's no reason they can't be available in the full body section, though.

I love the story for this game. The last stage was pure awesome with it changing factions all the time. It helped make it feel like the Autobots and the Decepticons were out to win and made the player sympathetic to both sides in the war. Grimlock was fantastic but I am a bit sad you don't get to control the other Dinobots except Swoop. Also, why did Sludge get the shaft? Since they couldn't use the real name, it would have made more sense for Slag to be the one that got left to die. Megatron's revival and gladiator pit battle, wow.

The game leaves so many open questions. I really hope High Moon get a chance to do a third in the series to answer some of them. What happened to Grimlock and the Dinobots? What happened to Optimus Prime and Megatron? Could Sludge have survived? What was Starscreams fate?

My favorite parts:

Grimlock
Metroplex vs Megatron
Grimlock
Metroplex coming to life
The dancing lever bot
Soundwave petting Laserbeak
Did I mention Grimlock?
