Can anyone tell me why this auction went for so much?

I'm in my 30's now and just getting back into collecting figures and would rather buy loose transformers and parts to save money since i just want to display them on a shelf. Looking at ebay lots and wondered why this lot jumped up in price so much? I see a couple of combiner heads but they can't be why right? any info would be appreciated, thx!

Haha, nonono! Don't buy loose parts, it's WAY more expensive to buy parts than to just buy complete toys. And combiner kibble (and other accessories, like guns) is obnoxiously expensive because, if you're going to lose something, it's those. High demand, limited supply.

Furthermore, I see a bunch of short, chromed missiles and chromed guns. Those are G1, before government regulations required obnoxious long missiles.
Old fasioned games!
And new fashioned friends!
Come on everybody this is Ta-ble Flip!

Yeah, not really sure. There's some interesting pieces there; the 3 orange guns at the top right and the mustard yellow head and fists at the bottom are from RID Ruination, for example, but nothing really jumps out at me. Lot of duplicate parts though. Pretty sure that red double barreled gun on the right is for a Cobra Mamba, too.

Well, considering most of those parts can be sold for at least $3 a piece...someone just made an investment.

I'm willing to consider the seller made absolutely no profit there.
