Why not play as Zeta Prime and the Drones?

I know the first DLC for War for Cybertron is adding 5 playeable characters to multiplayer. They are suposed to be the pre-order characters Jazz, Shockwave, and Demolishor, plus the new Autobot tank, Scattershot, and the Decepticon truck Onslaught (look in the games "extras" for conceptual pictures of these guys).

However, I don't get why they also don't give us the drones as well? I actually like playing as a rank and file guy. Most of what you need is already in the game.

Zeta Prime is another guy we could use, although I never saw him transform in the game. If you go to the extras menu and check out Autobot Heroes you see he turns into a van.

Yeah, I don't know why, if they already had the frames and skins set up, they wouldn't have included those models in the multiplayer mode. (Or give us a wider color palette for that matter...)

Decepticon leader-class are all stuck as Soundwave, while Autobot soldiers are all stuck being Warpath. It would have been cool to switch it up a little more.

Well, I expect the reason they're adding in Scattershot and Onslaught is for that very reason alone. Scattershot is an Autobot tank, and Onslaught is a Decepticon van.

I am surprised they don't add a pickup truck or something as a leader. We seem to have Optimus, then a bunch of vans for the leader class.

Zeta Prime was an arse, so I wouldn't want to play as him, but the various drone types that you fight against in single player would have made nice additions to the MP character creator, as would more colour options (including white for Autobots and some actual colours other than varying shades of grey for the Decepticons).
