Ok, so its like this. My brother took the main Wii-Remote to our cousin's place for the week, and I was left with the new one I purchaced for our 2-player ramblings for when he gets back. Problem is, It won't let me turn on the system, and when I turn on the system manually, I still don't get any responce from the remote. There isn't even a pointy-handy thing showing up on the screen. Is there a way to format the remote to operate? or do I have to wait for my bro to get home?

You probably have to sync up the remote. If you open the battery panel, there should be tiny red button. Push that button and I think there's a button you have to push on the Wii too. All the steps should be on a sheet, or in the manual, which came with the system.

Or failing that just scream and yell at the Wii-mote and then fling it at the console

Or google for help, that normally works.

Oh hey, wait until the remote doesn't respond with the Wii, and it's not out of sync, and the batteries aren't dead.

That'll freak the shite out of you.

Then you find out, it's because certain types of light hit the sensor bar and wreak havoc. The second day I had my Wii, the remote did that. I freaked the hell out.

Of course, it was just the sensor bar, and things worked fine again.

....$250.00 is not something I take lightly. lol
