World's Smallest Transformers

Still working on this collection, so I figured restarting the thread wouldn't hurt.

---

First, a little background for the sake of posterity. If you've never heard of WST, this'll get you started:

World's Smallest Transformers was made to capitalize on the popularity of Generation 1 reissues that broke out around 2000. These are accurate, although not exact, reproductions of Generation 1 toys, but only about two and a half centimeters tall. They don't feature as many moving parts and accessories like guns usually aren't included. However, they still transform like their 1984 counterparts.

WST were only available in Japan, and the figures in the box were random. You didn't know which figure you got until you opened it. Some figures were more rare than others. Examples of these "chase rares" are Ultra Magnus, Skywarp, and Bluestreak.

---

I've only been collecting WST for a few months, and I have a total of 8. I haven't gotten any chase rares yet, but I'm looking to resolve that shortly (today, hopefully). Here's the list:

Convoy vs. Megatron
Prowl
Soundwave :x
Sideswipe
Starscream
Thrust
Red Alert

Since I'm still relatively new to the collection, anything anyone else who knows more about is welcome. I also don't know much about knock-offs, except for the Dinobots.

I did save a very sexy picture of Ultra Magnus's trailer from a pre-reset thread. However, I forgot where it came from or how to get this amazing thing. Check attachment.

I think that Magnus was a Japanese Botcon thing. It wasn't made by Takara, but the group that made it did get the official go ahead from Takara. The truck doesn't transform, just fits into the armor. However I've heard the Takara releases White Convoy/Magnus WST should fit as well but don't know for sure.

I have the KO Menasor, Bruticus, Defensor and Devestator and they are excellent.

The WST's official and unofficial, all go well together. In fact the proportions between Prime and Motormaster are what the originals should have been.

The Dinobots are also well cool.

They all look good around the likes of Metroplex, Trypticon and Scorponok.

In fact I use G1 Broadside and Classics Astrotrain with them along with Armada Tidal Wave.

Also I recommend Kabaya Powermaster Prime and Triggerhappy as they fit nicely into that scale.

At one time I had most of the WSTF range - I think that I had all the official ones bar Thundercracker and one of the Prime Trailers.

I think that these were one of the best ranges in recent time as it was like having Micromaster versions of the original gen 1 characters.

The best collection photos I see are the ones which have Metroplex or Trypticon with loads of WSTF crawling over 'em.

Has anybody got the chase magnus or magnus with trailer that they are willing to part with?

I love my WSTs.

I have not really even thought about buying more lately.

And as I hear it, that Magnus trailer is very rare and VERY expensive.

A few of the KO's I want to get...

Black Starscream
Ghost Starscream
Sunstorm
Ghost Sunstorm

I think I ended up getting all the chase figures one way or another, although they tend to get a bit expensive.

The KOs and Dinorobots are awesome too...

And small brag: I was lucky enough to get the Gold Lucky Draw Snarl,...but not the Gold Santa Commander. :P I love my little gold Snarl. :-P

Aint that the stinking truth.

I still wanna know why Takara canceled them when they were still very popular.

me too. they were absolutely genius financially, so I have no clue why they stopped. Especially after we saw prototype pictures of skids, meg's addon parts, tracks, and smokescreen. It's not expensive to actually make the figures (considering you have the designs for the most part done.) and the amount of resources (plastic and paint) is incredibly small. Then you charge about 5-7 dollars a figure, put them in blind boxed, and have chase figures, you have quite a popular item.

In my honest opinion, best tf line in a long time. (but i think you could already tell by seeing the amount of them including customs and fake "prototypes" i have.)

***also, at the last botcon, there was a guy selling addon parts for megs (which could combine into the cannon thing), the transforming trailer for magnus (pictured by the thread creator), and then a diaclone/movie coloring of the same transforming magnus trailer. (unfortunately, they were rather expensive. $80 for the each trailer, and $50 for meg's addon parts.)
***edit*** Also added some new customs to my post above that im working on with a few buddies of mine.

I would have easily paid $80 for each KO's or not. Wish I would have seen that. Any idea who the vendor was so I can look them up this summer???

(I too would have bought them but i didnt have too much money left and there were still 2 more days of the dealer room :-( .)

i found a link to where you can barely see the megs addon and the corner of the boxed wst magnus.

http://www.seibertron.com/events/fullsi ... &image=105

on the far right middle of the pic, in a bluish box is megs and the addon parts. and that white box that is aprtially cut off in the image is the magnus.

uhm... i didn't catch a name but he was Japanese (I'm almost 100% sure anyway) and he had a pony tail. I recognized him from previous years too, so it seems he is a frequent visitor of the conventions. He had about 2-3 other people with him, one was american, had glasses and translated alittle less than half the time.

sorry those are the only clues i can give.... i might be able to find an image in the last convention's gallery or previous years (back in chicago).

edit: was not able to find a picture with the guy in it. and it seems that otfcc 2004's pictures are gone too
