He sucked.

Yeah... He was very disapointing. I don't mind the way he died. But he should have transformed a few times and he should be made clear he was a commander of sort. Yet, he was just the fourth Dread.

For me, the reason I was so disappointed in Shockwave was because of the way he died. Yeah, I was already unhappy with how small a role he played after they hyped him up as the big bad, but even in the movie, they described him as some big ol' monster that everyone was afraid of. But then, when it finally comes time for his big fight scene, he immediately gets blinded by a parachute, stumbling around like an idiot, waving his arms in the air, and then that small group of Nest agents starts firing at him through the windows, making it even more of an embarrassment to watch. Then Optimus comes in and punches out his gut, rips out his eye, and kills him without Shockwave getting in a single shot. Pathetic.

Don't get me wrong, despite its problems, I enjoyed the movie. But every time I watch that scene I go crazy. They did such a bad job with him, it makes me glad the original actor chose not to associate himself with it.

As for Starscream, surprisingly I enjoyed him in Dark of the Moon. They managed to get in (in my opinion) more characterization than they did in the entirety of the last two movies. Yeah, his death wasn't all that dignifying, all he did was whine and grovel, and he never really had his own big moment in that movie, but unlike Shockwave, that's kind of how Starscream's supposed to be. He's MEANT to be the sucky one, he's MEANT to be the one kicked around. He's a coward and a suck-up. That's the whole point of him.

And for some reason, during his final moments, I laughed so hard at his "I'm gonna KICK you!" line. Hehehe.

... tl;dr.

Idiotic internet slang for "too long, don't read".

It's funny when used as a joke. It's frustrating when that's the only responce to your long post.

LOL! Half of what I wrote was made up of indirect disclaimers. Just in case a Bayverse uber-fan came across the post, and decided that all who speak against the movieverse must burn.

To me this really goes down to which character was not built up enough in each movie. Or had an extreme lack of screen time.

TF 1 - Had decent balance of character building. *** Jazz probably lacked the most here, but still had a decent amount of screen time when compared to the rest.

TF 2 -
1) Jolt - shows up once or twice and then suddenly plops all of Jetfire's parts on to Optimus Prime... Worst Representation for sure...
2) Ratchet - Goes from having some dialog in the first movie to nearly almost none!
3) Arcee - Why even bring her into this if she doesn't even talk? It was neat intro, and decent moment at the ending of the movie, but a ton of holes.

TF 3 -
A ton of transformers missing from the previous movie. It would be better to explain what happened to them than to suddenly leave earth without them.
1) Que - Only one or two moments of character building, this left no room for me caring when he died.
2) Soundwave - Seriously one of the most badass Transformers of all time and is taken down by a bunch of humans... As said before not enough dialog with him as he had some what of a mouth in the cartoons. This is the guy that took down several of the planetary defense systems the Autobots setup. Now he is slain by a paratrooper?

Obviously there is more, but overall the movies had A LOT working against them. The first movie really did a good job balancing, but after that one TF2 had the writers strike. And not to mention with adding so many more transformers how they interact grow these characters from the previous TF1 with little time creates havok. In the cartoons development is done over several episodes and seasons so it is a little easier. But how to do this in a 2 & a half hour movie. Is anyones guess...

I think the movies served their purpose. Action, Hot Girls, and Robots that get the ripped to pieces...

Soundwave was killed by Bumblebee. And Arcee did talk, on her first scene and on the scene before the blue one dies (I consider the trio as Arcee).

Ah yes that is right I was referring to "Shockwave" not "Soundwave". Either way Arcee had very little screen time for character building.
