Would you be okay with a Transformers series that was about a new generation of Transformers?

Postby LordScourge » Fri Jun 01, 2012 5:39 pm

I'm sure it was done with Beast Wars and what not but I'm talking about a Transformers series that's about two completely different factions from the Autobots and Decepticons. I'm not suggesting factions descended from the two and inherited the roles of Autobots and Decepticons either I'm refering to another war breaking out generations after the war between Autobots and Decepticons and just to switch things up some of the Protagonists could be descended(or created from) from Megatron (this would be the main character), Starcream, Soundwave etc... as well as Autobots and the main villain and his lackey's could be descended or created from Optimus and other autobots as well as Decepticons.

Also with this idea the Two main characters aren't named after Optimus and Megatron (I think that would be a little awkward given the lineage)

Many of us have said over the years we'd be up for this sort of thing.

My personal preference would still be set in the same current universe, but centred more around lower ranked bots with Optimus and Megatron (and the other more central characters) background figures that pop up on rare occassions.

Much like Rescue Bots. Only more violent.

So, you remember how in season 3 of G1, it featured a future team of Autobots, led by Optimus' successor Rodimus Prime, and Decepticons, led by a redesigned Megatron, now known as Galvatron?

It didn't work out all that well. Mostly because the attempt at passing the torch was done incredibly heavy-handed, and no one became particularly attached to the new guys, like they were with Optimus Prime and Megatron. That, and the animation took a nosedive that season.

Just so long as the exception wasn't Bumblebee, then yes, it sounds like a great idea.

Akom was responsible for all the horridness of Five Faces of Darkness and quite a few other episodes. Over the whole, yes, animation went down. Not enough studio Ox.

I'd be up for another round of non-Optimus shows. BW was great, Victory and Masterforce were awesome. Why the h*ll not?

I'd love a not-Optimus/Bumblebee/Ratchet/Megatron/Soundwave/Starscream show, whether it be a "sequel" series like Beast Wars or a "meanwhile" show like Rescue Bots or something in between. Heck, I think I enjoy those a lot more than the "normal" series.

yeah and there were also a few bad animated shows in season 2 also so given the amount of episodes in season 2 verses season 3 its the same quality over-all

I think Optimus and Megatron are the main perpetuating characters. They have helped to establish a great lore and I don't think there's any point in trying to establish 2 new factions into the future. I hope the story of Optimus and the Autobots vs. Megatron and the Decepticons will be told for generations. This comparison may be a bit off, but it'd almost be like trying to get used to the attempts I've witnessed with many newer comic book characters. I think it takes a certain amount of the right x-factor or indescribable quality to garner fandom and genuine love for such fictitious characters. :BOT:
