Wraith vs. Goa'uld

Postby Shadowman » Sat Feb 16, 2008 1:57 pm

Motto: "May God have mercy on my enemies, because I sure as hell won't."
The ultimate Stargate battle! The Wraith from Stargate Atlantis, vs. the Goa'uld from SG-1!

The battle is on a flat landscape, with scattered mountains.

There are 200 Wraith, plus two commanders. They're equipped with Wraith Stunners and Grenades (As well as standard Culling).

Likewise, the Goa'uld have 200 loyal Jaffa, and are led by a team-up between Ba'al and Apophis. The Jaffa are equipped with Staff Weapons and Zat'nik'tels, while Ba'al and Apophis have Hand Devices.

Both sides each have a Stargate and a Ring Transporter.

Who wins this one?

EDIT: Removed ships from the fight. Too many gaps in combat capabilities!

The Wraith, if only because you have specified (I suppose that by mistake), that they have support of an 11 km long warship with space to ground bombardment capability and beam teleporters.

And I only gave the Goa'uld two Al'Kesh because I thought a Goa'uld Ha'tak would be overkill. (One has the firepower of several nukes) #-o

What would the Al'Kesh do? Just eliminate orbital, and air assets. Becaus if you keep either of them its either a rape for the Wraith or the Goa'uld. A straight up infantry fight would be better.

I took ships out of the fight. It's got the Hot Dog/Bun Complex; by the time you have equal amounts of both, there's just no point anymore!

The Goa'uld would win the infertry battle as their weapons are designed to kill their foes where wraith weapons are designed to capture and incapacitate and as seen on several occasions on the show it is harder to capture than to kill.

Weapon: Reciprocating Laser Cannon
Which Jaffa version does the Goa'uld have? There were the enchanced black-armor versions of Anubis, 200 of them would scythe the Wraiths easily.

As for the standard Jaffas: Goa'ulds win with heavy casualties.

Wraith cos they are a lot better.
Go'uld are just symbyiotes in peoples brains.

And everyone loves vampires.

Wraith are better in every way.

And Atlantis is actually good and dosnt have any 'funny' episodes unlike Stargate SG1.Which was run by idiots sometimes.

Hm, well Ba'al is just a complete badass. Plus the Wraith's strength lie in close combat, most would get mowed down before being able to drain any energy.

It would be a close fight, but I thin Ba'al and Aphosis would be able to pull off a win, especially if no ships are involved.

You're kidding me right? Atlantis and SG1 were written by the mostly the same people. SG-1 went on for 10 seasons, 10 years, plus with the nature of the show and the characters, "funny" episodes were a must, which just brought out the best in the show. You can't do serious for 10 years straight, otherwise you're just a soap opera.

Plus, Atlantis have had it's share of funny episodes as well, and even more when they near the 10 year mark like SG-1 did.

I prefer my scifi straight up and consistant.

Those funny episodes were cringe making.

Id watch it for a while and its all going fine, straight up writng, then a funny episode comes on and trashes it.

And really it dosnt matter how long a show lasts. Some awful programmes are old.

Some go on far too long and get hidious , like Charmed.
That was meant to end then they brought it back and it was dire.Too many kids in it.

I'm confused by how you mean consistent.

When doing a sci-fi show, the door is literally open to a plethora of ideas. Everything is possible, which makes Sci-fi great. However, not every idea can fit into the realm of serious, something so out there that you just can't take it seriously for long.

Perfect example, the episode of SG-1, where O'Neill and Teal'c get caught in a time loop. So they end up reliving the same day over and over. The Groundhogs Day episode. It started off serious, but then it took the turn to make it realistic, where if you were reliving the same day over and over, you'd do whatever the hell you wanted for awhile. It added a good amount of humor, kept the episode interesting, but still had the serious tone and suspense to it.

Plus the serious episodes vastly outweighed the humor episodes.

You can't keep sci-fi serious all the time. Otherwise it'd become 24: In Space. And nobody wants that.

And Atlantis has it's fair share of funny episodes. The one where everyone records video messages to be sent through the Stargate to Earth, the recent one where McKay, Carter, and Keller (Kaylee Frye from Firefly!) are stuck in a mine shaft, the episode where McKay is stuck in a sinking Puddlejumper and hallucinates Carter to help him, the list goes on.

I'm throwing my vote for the Wraith in this conflict. I think a lot of people underestimate that the Wraith are able to heal themselves extraordinarily quickly via feeding.

Now consider that Jaffa are essentially long lived humans with exceptional health, and that's considerably more life then a regular human would have.

Now add in the fact that the Wraith can make you see and hear things that aren't there, and you have a considerable advantage for the Wraith.

Wraith win because the Jaffa are confused, superior fodder for the Wraith, and Wraith healing.

If the Jaffa are experienced Vs. the Wraith, then it's a closer call, but I'm considering this a "First encounter" kind of thing.

We have no idea if the Goa'uld symbiotes can act against the Wraith. Perhaps the symbiotes can poison the Wraith somehow? That would **** them up!
