Thanks!
We have enough lineart to reach page 22 of issue #4, we just need one last color artist for three remaining pages ^^

Wow. The art there is amazing, and gives some great attention and focus to The War Within era and style. Looks like they're rounding out the final chapters of the unfinished comic The Age of Wrath, hopefully based on the script that was floating around. (Can anyone confirm this is the case?)

My only problem — mostly due to the hodge-podge layout of Deviant Art — it's tough to tell a reading order, or identify the complete Seeds "collection". Since each artist can only highlight his own art — and the site isn't set up to easily link or organize multi-artist projects — it's quite a mess to try to jump into and read any collaborative project.

Does any of this have a proper home page anywhere hosting this material? One with a clear reading order?

Too bad IDW won't pick this stuff up and print it. It's really amazing. >:oP

Hey,
I'm one of the writers: thank you for the kind words.

The trick to follow the Seeds Of Deception comics is browsing The Gallery.
On the left side of the screen, there is a list of folders: each of them hosts a chapter of the series.

They are in a relatively proper order, at least when it comes to the main chapters: 1 Omega Supreme, 2 Trannis...and so on up to 9 Starscream.
What you need to remember is that their stories take place in parallel, not in sequence: each chapter tells events of the Golden Age from a different perspective, focusing on different years and/or locations. There are many internal links which build a larger tapestry: the notes to each page (you can see them by scrolling down the page) will provide a detailed guide.

(The pages of our comic are all gathered under one single DA account: there is also a road map).

There are some additional folders, providing extra chapters, like "Magnificence Saga" and "Short Stories" which are written to connect The War Within to other of Simon Furman's works.

There are tales from the Nova Prime Age as well (before the Golden Age): "The Evil That Mechs Do", "Constant Moon".

"Dark Side Of Sentinel" is a SoD/Dark of the Moon/Revenge Of The Fallen crossover.

The last folder is "Wrath Of The Ages", which reached page 12 but more aer being colored right now!
(We need more skilled color artists, btw. HINT HINT HINT!)
To answer your question, yes, we are following the story summaries seen on TWF2005: see the notes to page 1 for more details.

FANTASTIC! That road map (and your VERY kind help) are exactly what I needed. Bookmarking it all now.

And I should add... I never would have chimed in to ask unless I was REALLY, REALLY freakin' excited about this project.

Honestly, more than I am about any of the current IDW comics. A was a huge fan of the War Within series. It looks like you guys are giving the body of work the respect it deserves, instead of simply rewriting the Transformers history — not to mention making up wild new transformations and designs — simply because you have the property. (And I do hate getting comics and finding Bumblebee has a new transformation every other month.)

I'll be joyously pouring over these... and again, stellar work!!! Thanks for your patience with my questions. You're one of the good ones. ;)

Thank YOU for reading!
I just love talking about the project (of course), so the truth is that I was pleased with your questions :)

"Respect" is the key word to the whole project: mr. Furman (re)built a whole mythology filling it with dozens of clever cues waiting only to be exploited and developed into full stories.
Some were actually used in his -Ation, Spotlights and Stormbringer series, others were added... it was just a matter of focusing on them and bringing them to the extreme consequences.

"The Drought", for instance, is all based on a plot device that was bashed by everyone in the online forums: the Solar Pool.
But why bash it instead of connecting it to other key concepts (like the depletion of Cybertron's natural resources, as seen in another book of the same saga)?
The potential is there, it only needs people who want to see it.
The same goes for the War Within redesigns, which are simply fantastic and should not go wasted - not to mention they were the first official effort at giving us what we wanted since the beginning (Cybertronian robots with a Cybertronian look that was both alien and close to the G1 toys!).

It's not perfect as we wish it were, though: some pages in the project have a different art style, others have small errors (which we pointed out in the notes)... but that's to be expected in a fanproject :)

Yeah, I think the best case scenario would be to keep the same artist on a full comic — or at least similar artists — and the people whose style is a bit different/unique — or still developing — on the task of spotlight style comics. Then they can take more liberties and risks.

I always hated it when the comic book artist changed partway through. I remember that in the G2 comics... plus some UK ones switching from Geoff Senior to another guy (maybe Anderson?). Always jarring. (Senior is a big favorite.)

Not to mention the mix of painterly (ie. Autocracy style) then the normal IDW style. While I LOVE the painterly style (and the playful Last Stand of the Wreckers style), they're so unique and stylized, I think they need to be their own series or books with nothing else mixed in.

It's good when someone can help reel everyone into a consistent style, like they've pulled in Wildman on the current run. (ie. less spittle and human-face robots.) Enjoying that mix of old and new style in a nice hybrid.

But all this chatter on official comics aside, the art on Seeds and Wrath is amazing. Color, lighting, character designs, layout, proportions. The nods to Art Deco design on some of the covers is beautiful. More chatter after I read them all. Heh.
