Thanks for saying so! It's a little thing, but it's slowly evolving :)

A friend of mine recently moved to Tokyo for a 3-year period. He was in a toystore yesterday and found me a Masterpiece Megatron! Believe me when I say he's going to be my TF pimp in Japan .

Also had a productive day yesterday. Went on a road trip to Calais in France and found Cybertronian Bumblebee, Turbo Tracks, Generations Thrust and Special ops Jazz at TRU ...it was a good day :D

Nice haul! I feel you about the Japanese hookup, my Bro-in-law is going to be working in Hong Kong for about 2 weeks, I've already mapped out the city for stores with Transformers, new and vintage alike. Combined with the power of Facetime, He will be my personal shopper! Chinese Connection! BTW, that Tracks is one of my favorite figures from ALL of the classics lines, congrats, he is a winner!

Awesome collection..... getting bigger fast it looks like.

have you opened your Brawl by chance? If not I'm wondering what you do about batteries in the TF's? I've seen a post on the toy forums about someone who decided to take out there batteries in a TF and the acid leaked out and left a mess.

Hi Dirk, yeah I stepped up the pace a bit lately and my wife told me yesterday, with a grin on her face, that it was time that I got her something nice in return for her " slightly worn" tolerance :P

It's still unopened and I've had him for close to a year now...To clarify - did the acid leak because they opened the toy up, or because they had been left too long in the toy?

Yeah, my wife is the same way.

I'll see if I can go back and find it in the forums.

Here is the link to the topic. Even a picture of someones TF weapon w/ acid leakning.

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=62246&p=1033251&hilit=battery#p1033251

It's only 2 pages w/ about 13 post. But pretty good stuff. Your call though. I've got some to go through and check out now that I think about it

Ouch! That does not look good at all - commencing operation "Remove Batteries" tomorrow! Thanks very much for the heads-up!

In the long term pretty much just the small flat watch batteries are safe to leave in toys, it might take years or decades but eventually you will get leakage from all larger batteries. I take them out of all my figures, but then all mine are open. Toys being supplied with batteries installed is a nightmare for MiB collectors.

Yeah, I guess thats why they use those as ROM batteries on computer motherboards.

After rearranging the Detolf display case (getting a second Detolf) I noticed that my Classics Powerglide has become rather silent, so I guess he's next in line...if I can figure out how to open him up that is.

Latest update in my current haul streak is...2010 Predaking...OH YEAH!! Found one on Ebay at a price that I could not resist. I've been wanting one since I first saw one at TRU when I was on vacation with my parents to Orange county California in 1988. He was a bit expensive even then, so I ended up with a G1 Galvatron, which I still have.

Hey, thanks for the photo GetRightRobot ;)^ It's a great looking piece of plastic! Mine is sadly still unopened. The "unveiling" has been delayed because we've had visitors to our house the whole week. Tonight though...

I have a photo of him in the box - not to interesting but I can add some photos of the latest haul to keep him company:

You could not have titled this discussion thread anymore appropriately! It is certainly growing! Looks like you caught in the struggle of "To open, or not to open." A common conundrum for toy collectors. Personally, I can appreciate both sides of the argument and can only offer this: Choose. You gotta be one or the other. I have seen people burn through WAAAYYYY too much cash trying to do both.

Once again, a fabulous haul. Got some real winners there! Are you going to pick up an iGear head uprgrade for Kup?

This..... If I were not married, I would probably be one of those. But the fact that I am.....I get to see how crazy that would be to try and pull off.

Thanks very much man, that really means a lot comming from a collector belonging to a "whole 'nother level" !

I totally concur. I was originally thinking I shold get one MISB and one loose of all figures, then moving on to two of each of my favourites...now I pretty much open all of them. Those photographed in-box (so to speak) I just haven't gotten around to open. There are a few however that I'm still on the fence about; a few Classics that I see some ask quite a lot for on Ebay - Bumblebee, Hound, Astrotrain, Ratchet, Ramjet, Galvatron and Mirage. Those I'm actually trying to find loose on Ebay - but not at any price. 40-100 dollars for deluxe classics is way too much , and I rather spend the money on ones I don't have. Like the upcomming iGear (not)Ratchet and Ironhide...and yes I really want the Kup upgrade :)

and oh yes...Predaking is now on the way from Japan

It's good to have someone who can pull your ear if needed :) I don't think I would've had the concience to spend money on something that would just sit there on the shelf untouched either - I have other hobbies and interests that reqiure money (well, most hobbies do don't they?), so I'm trying to balance as best as I can.

Finally the King arrived...I knew from all the pictures I've been looking at that he's a great transformer, but pictures just don't do him justice at all! Holding him and feeling the size and weight just put a smile on my face :D

The next question is to "Crazy Devy or not to Crazy Devy"...

Here are a few pics:

Awesome acquisition my man! I love the gold on this version. Certainly Preda-KING!! As for the CrazyDevy....I say do it if you want it, just please be careful if you get the wings, I'd hate to hear about another gorgeous Predaking falling victim to it.

Yeah, he's bloody terrific, my absolute favourite Transformer so far!

As to the Crazy Devy parts, I have read about the issues and will do a bit more reading before I decide - they are also Crazy (Devy)expensive. And I've always felt the wings were too big...that is, until every time I see pictures like this, and I catch myself drooling ever so slightly... :D

I have to admit, that's pretty damn epic. Are the wings the only CD upgrade you're considering? The hands seem a nice upgrade and the feet are supposed to add some height to him. Honestly the only one I've seen that is totally unnecessary is the head, IMO. What is it $40 for an LED and an identical head that has "gun barrels" on it?

I agree, the hands, feet and sword are nice additions that'll not change him too much. Not sure how much height you actually get from the feet addons though. To give him some height I do what I've seen others do and extend the legs on Tantrum and Headstrong.
The wings are VERY nice indeed, the shoulder cannons as well, but the head is a absolute no-go. The LED makes the whole head light up, not just the eyes and it looks very bad.

I will just have to see how much and how soon I'll commit to upgrading him now that Hercules also is burning a hole in my wallet :)
