On the
board of
www.transformersdvd.com, Metrodome has made a
statement regarding some complains about their recent release of Transformers: The Movie - Reconstructed. The following is an direct quote from the site:
We have had a response back from the lab in New York and they have informed us that they did go from telecine to NTSC and then to PAL, we weren’t aware that this was part of the process. Having examined the film we concede that there are minimal artefacts, but in honesty feel that they are not significant enough to mar viewing enjoyment. Given the option we would not have undergone this process. Obviously some fans will have superior equipment and from a cinephile point of view this may not meet expectations, we can only apologise, but still believe from overwhelming feedback, that we have produced a unique version of the film that will appease and delight the majority of consumers. The newly revealed picture has shown some incomplete parts of overdrawing in the animation, but this is a compromise in order to show the maximum possible screen image throughout, which ultimately is the key differentiation between this and previous versions.
In terms of the 5.1 mix: this was newly created for this release from the original stereo mix. No extra sounds have been added, but due to the nature of a new surround mix derived from just two original channels, existing sounds will come through as louder than in previous incarnations. Hence the sound of the gun is not an addition, but merely louder than before, it was already on the soundtrack. The fact that the sounds are present on the stereo track as well indicates that our version is correct and previous versions are incorrect representations.
All products are watched through before release, but it is not always possible to have someone with knowledge of prior versions QC the product. Hence the main priority at the initial viewing is to look for digital dropout, audio glitches and authoring failures. We will do all we can to arrange for future releases to be viewed by a Transformers fan as well as a technical controller.

Doug Dlin has given
The Allspark some information about the Binal Tech Wildrider and Black Widow figures. Both figurers (Honda S2000 repaints) were said to be released this year, but for some strange reasons both were postponed.
Doug got his information from Hirofumi Ichikawa, the writer of the Binal Tech story.
Binal Tech Wild Rider is now cancelled because of name restrictions, while BT Black Widow is set to be part of a separate line. (Binal Tech Asterisk anyone?). BT Skids will be the new BT-16 instead of the Honda repaint.
