Rumors have it that the first DVD to be released by Metrodome in the U.K. is the extremely hard to find "Scramble City" episode. It is said to be released in Japanese with English Subtitles ONLY, under the "Transformers: Takara" series. Also, the Transformers Season 2 Part 1 UK Region 2 boxset has yet to be ´officialy´ announced but will be released later this year by Metrodome under the T.V. Loonland Banner. T.V. Loonland aquired the rights to Transformers in the UK from Sunbow, causing Maverick Entertainment to lose out.

Orson, a Hasbro designer who posts at the message boards for Tfw2005, has revealed some interesting tidbits.

  • For all those waiting, Takara is planning to release Bluestreak in his blue Diaclone colors.

  • Episodes 43 or 44 of Armada may feature an Armada Prime in RID Scourge colors...

  • The Sixshot-colored Powerlinx Demolishor, announced at Hasbro´s Press Event has been cancelled.

  • Skywarp´s mini-con finally has a name. Thunderclash.

There are also rumors of Armada Thrust being repainted into a Jhiaxus, and an Armada Dirge, possibly being a repainted Armada Skywarp. I say rumors because Hasbro has not announced them, but may consider them.

According to Raymond T: "It has just come to my attention on the General Topics Board (at the Energon Pub) by Skylynx that Maverick (in the U.K.) has lost the rights to the original/Sunbow Transformers series for distribution. These rights have been past on to TV Loon Land. I just looked up their site! It appears they now have the rights of:

  • 98 Transformers episodes
  • The Transormers: The Movie
  • 52 Transformers: Generation 2 episodes
  • 115 Transformers Takara episodes (Japan Headmasters)

"I didn´t see anything that would indicate that they´ll release Transformers anytime soon, but I think we´ve just found out why there has been no word on the release of the TF Season 2 Maverick box. Since there is no mention of Armada, I think the Armada DVD will still be released by Maverick on March 31st (previously March 24th)."

Rumor has it that the much-delayed Brave Maximus (Fortress Maximus in RiD) will finally get at least a limited release as part of the Transformers: Universe line. Fueling this rumor (again) is one of my credible sources has told me of the existance of a recent Fortress Maximus test-shot. Could US fans finally be getting a new Fortress Maximus? One problem after another has prevented the 55cm giant from reaching American store shelves. The upcoming Universe line would definately be the time to do it. Could the wait finally be over? Stay tuned...

A question I keep getting asked is "What exactly are we getting from ´Transformers Universe´? Well, feast your eyes on this fine collection of rumors I´ve collected:

The first wave of ´Universe´ will feature all Beast Wars/Machines molds. The 2nd wave will give us a plethora of G2 molds (most likely with G1 character names). And following that, you´ll probably be seeing some repaints of RiD figures.

There will be a quarterly comic published by 3H. This will combine elements of the BotCon comics such and Primevil Dawn and The Wreckers.

Also, the characters will be the same as their ´in continuity´ counterparts. For example, the upcoming Silverbolt figure WILL be THE Silverbolt from BW/BM.

Remember though, these are just rumors (for now) and could change at any time.

UPDATE 2: According to Orson of the 2005 Boards, there´s no truth to this rumor.

UPDATE: Here´s something you probably won´t read on other sites: Several of the ´leaked´ prototype pics are rumored to have been stolen from Dreamwave, rather than Hasbro themselves. This makes for a VERY unhappy Hasbro...

There is some speculation that Hasbro may be looking to give the Transformers license to Devils Due (The Image company that works on Hasbro´s GI Joe series). Neither Dreamwave nor Devils Due would comment on this. Hasbro execs aren´t pleased with declining sales for Transformers: Armada or the generally low sales of Simon Furman´s ´The War Within´. Nor are they pleased with the lateness of some of the books, such as the numerous delays of the Profile Books.

Once again, this is merely speculation at this time. With Generation 1 Volume 2 (War and Peace) coming out in a few weeks, Dreamwave should be tearing up the charts again.

The upcoming Transformers G1 video game (Transformers: Tatataki) is scheduled to come out of June 3rd in the US. For now, it´s only a PS2 release. The game seems to have a fighting system similar to that of PS2´s ´Dynasty Warriors´ series. For those who haven´t played the game, it´s basically an arcade style hack-and-slash. Over 100 Transformers characters are in the game, including the gestalts and Unicron. The game tells the story that extends from ´More Than Meets the Eye´ all the way through ´The Return of Optimus Prime´. With the MSRP at only $29.99, transfans really can´t afford NOT to buy this game.
