Simon Furman has once again updated his blog, this time with information relating to his upcoming Visit to London's Forbidden Planet store on Thursday 25th October 2007. Here's what he had to say:

As previously mentioned, I’ll be at London’s Forbidden Planet Megastore this Thursday (25th) PM, signing copies of (among other things) Death’s Head volume 2. The signing is from 6PM for an hour or so, and while DHv2 is headlining, I’ll be more than happy to sign copies of Transformers (Devastation, Beast Wars The Ascending, TF-UK and even Best of the Dinobots) and Terminator 2… and pretty anything else you can lay hands on (wot I wrote) in the store. So come meet and greet, gather any wayward crumbs of upcoming information I may impart along the way (especially if it all ends up in the pub afterwards) and just generally soak up the, um, ambience. The Megastore can be found at 179 Shaftesbury Ave. Hope to see you there!

Furman is well known for leaking tidbits of information about upcoming releases at events such as these, so it could be well worth your while.

A very short and sweet interview with Michael Bay...

:
E! Online caught up with Transformers director Michael Bay at Hollywood Film Festival's Hollywood Awards and asked about the sequel:

So, where do you go with it? How do you up the stakes?
It's not about upping it. It's about still keeping the heart.

Any new characters coming in?
Oh, yeah…a lot of fun stuff. I keep telling the writers, remember the heart and the magic, remember the heart and the magic. It's not about being bigger.

DreamWorks is targeting a June 26, 2009 release date for the follow-up.

Another interview has popped up on the internet with the beautiful Transformers actress Rachael Taylor. This time UGO.com asked the star, best known for her character of Maggie Madsen, some questions.

"I have a really simple sort of life, and to be in a helicopter landing on the lawn of the Pentagon, which I think was a shot that didn't make the movie, but there's another scene when Shia, Anthony, Megan and I are in a helicopter. I was just blown away by that. I'm not a particularly cool person and I couldn't hide my excitement. It was ridiculous! Who does that? Who rides in a helicopter and lands on the lawn of the Pentagon?"

CNN reports on their site that this week their programm Talk Asia will feature the producer of the original Transformers cartoon and Director of the 1986 Transformers movie, Nelson Shin. Check your local TV schedule for when the show airs. The following has been taken directly from the article.

"Dubbed the "Godfather of Animation" in South Korea, Nelson Shin is behind such iconic animated characters as the Simpsons, Pink Panther and Transformers. Shin shows Anjali Rao how his studio breathes life into cartoons, talking her through the animation process from basic pencil drawings to computer-generated movements. His work also extends to live action, including the famous Star Wars lightsaber.

Although he has enjoyed enormous success in the animation field, Shin never received any training. Born in North Korea, he left his hometown and moved South during the upheaval of the Korean War when he was 13 years old. Looking back, Shin relates to Rao how these early experiences have helped him develop a strong character and the ability to focus totally on his work.

Shin's AKOM studio now also creates many of its own original characters and recently released the animated film "Princess Chung." Hailed as a step towards greater unity on the Korean peninsula, the film saw a rare collaboration between North and South Korean animators and actors. Shin discusses the process of doing business in the North and his impressions of the capital Pyongyang

Transformers Comics pencil artist Andrew Wildman has updated his blog again. He is selling off the last few original inkpages from the End Of The Road saga from the original Marvel comics and placed scans of these pages along with his blog. The following has been taken directly from Wildman's Blogpage.

"So I guess we all remember those good old days of the Transformers Comic published by Marvel. I do
Well I think I have finally found the last few pages of original art from that series. Can’t believe I have had some of these for so long. Its so cool to look back at some of those Neo Knights illustrations for me. At the time I had pretty much had my fill of drawing robots and the chance to draw ‘real’ people was great. An opportunity to show those editors at Marvel that I could take on Superheroes. Not sure if they were ever convinced

So here, finally, are the last few pages of a bygone age. All up for grabs at a super duper, knock down, bargain basement price. £25/$50 per page! I must be mad! Click and enjoy and let me know what memories they bring back.

Cheers Trans Fans

Recently in the news there has been a lot of talk of lead paint contaminations, recalls and voluntary recalls of certain toys from China. This has mainly effected the Mattel company whose main toy lines are Barbie, Hot Wheels, Fisher Price and many more. As this threat of lead paint is on many consumers minds, CEO of Hasbro Al Verrecchia has issued a statement on Hasbro.com. Mr. Verrecchia states Hasbro's commitment to quality products, and what Hasbro does to ensure the safety of all it;s products.

Letter from Al Verrecchia
Statement on Toy Safety From Hasbro's Chief Executive Officer

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

As the President and Chief Executive Officer of Hasbro, no issue is more important to me than the safety of our toys and of the children who enjoy them.

At Hasbro, we are proud that our own safety standards meet or exceed all federal regulations and that we set the highest standards for our own factories as well as our vendors wherever they may be located, including China. We are also proud that none of our toys or games was affected by the recent recalls related to lead paint.

To ensure compliance with our high standards, Hasbro requires tests and quality control checks at multiple stages of the manufacturing process. These procedures, which have been in place for many years, have always included - and continue to include - independent, third-party testing of our products.

Specific to the issue of lead paint: paints used on Hasbro products are tested and inspected before application on our products. We test the same paints during various stages of production, including on finished product as it leaves the production line and before it gets shipped.

In an abundance of caution, we are taking additional steps as part of our thorough proprietary safety procedures to confirm that our procedures are being adhered to and that we are doing everything possible to make the safest toys for your children. For example, we have increased the frequency of our product testing. We have also stepped up inspections of all of our products both in our company-owned plants in the United States and Ireland, as well as our vendors in China, and we will continue to make more frequent, unannounced visits.

Overseeing this effort is a team of full-time Hasbro quality control engineers and inspectors based in Hong Kong and China. These employees, who are part of Hasbro's U.S.-based global quality assurance team, are often present on the factory floors of our vendors to confirm the quality and safety of our products.

We hope this gives you a better understanding of Hasbro's quality control programs and the many steps we take to ensure the safety of our toys so that you can continue to purchase them with confidence. While I can't guarantee that a recall won't ever happen, I can promise that we are taking every possible precaution. What I can say, however, is that if an issue of product safety should arise, we will address it quickly, openly and decisively.

I would also like you to know that we maintain a strong working relationship with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Our in-house product safety experts interact regularly with CPSC officials to share information regarding our products and practices.

We continue to take the safety of our children - mine and yours - very seriously. That's my commitment to you - as a CEO, as a parent, and as a grandparent.

Sincerely,

Al Verrecchia
Chief Executive Officer
