Transformers IDW comic book artist, Nick Roche, recently sat down with interviewer, Chris Ryall, from IDWeek to discuss his popular Transformers: Spotlight Kup. Nick describes the character selection process along with his grim storyboard ideas. Nick also explains his unique rendering style for the book, which added to Kup's character and overall theme.
Chris Ryall had this to stay: Roche had an idea for the character, who was last used to any degree of prominence in the ‘80s Transformers animated movie. His proposal was sound, and we agreed to let him take a shot at “auteur” status on this one. The story is not only grimmer than many Transformers titles, but it also features a unique art style that reflects Kup’s damaged state of mind (and you Outback fans might want to approach this story with a wary eye, too). It’s probably the closest we’ve come to offering a “Transformers zombies” tale.
Seibertron member, zhgingaah, has noticed that IDW has updated their preview section with Escalation #6. Things continue heating up in Eastern Europe between the Autobots and Decepticons. Megatron and Optimus Prime have their big showdown in the frozen tundra. Meanwhile Hotrod struggles on his own.
Check out the 5 new colored pages and the two alternate covers here.

Seibertron member, Kary, has spotted the first painted images of Takara Transformers Music Label earphones from Mainichi Daily News. The earphones will transform into the troublemaking robots- Frenzy and Rumble. The earphones function in alternate & robot mode and will work with the Soundwave MP3 Player. The earphones go on sale in Japan on July 19, 2007 for 3,950 yen.
The earphones will appear white in alternate mode and they will display their traditional robot colors in bot mode. Takara has not indicated which figure will be red or blue yet, which brings up the old question...
Many of us are getting excited about the new Transformers Movie toys, which will be released this summer. We know that Hasbro and Takara are both releasing the movie toys; but did you know that there are some differences in the toys?
Recently we reported here on a few articles from Japan's June edition of Dengeki Hobby , which contained information about the up coming Transformers Movie toys. Dengeki Hobby has indicated in the article that the Takara version of Optimus Prime (Leader class) will contain die-cast.
Eager fans may have a new decision to make when it comes to purchasing the movie version of Optimus Prime (Leader class)- Hasbro? or Takara?
Transformers Club.com has posted a new image of the cover of an upcoming exclusive comic book featuring the "Timelines" title, but the story features Transformers Classics!
From the image, it appears that Ultra Magnus (Target Exclusive, no body armor), Springer, Grimlock, Elita-1, Huffer, and several others such as Classic Minicons are decending from the sky.
It is also noteworthy that Elita-1 is pictured to be a remold of Cybertron Thunderblast. Springer appears to be using the Cybertron Defense Hotshot Mold. Lastly, Huffer appears to be using the Cybertron Armorhide Mold. Could these be more Botcon exclusive figures to go with this year's Classics theme? Only time will tell.
Also, according to Pete@Botcon, this will be distributed through Diamond Comics Worldwide!
