We are pleased to confirm that Sky Linx will be reissued and released this December as Takara’s special New Year’s Release.

Sky Linx was first released back in 1986, and was seen throughout the cartoon series, but ironically this will be Sky Linx’s first release in Japan.

The website, Snakas, has posted a few pictures of Sky Linx from the recent event, CharaHobby, which was held in Japan. The exact release date, price, and box art for Sky Linx have not been decided as of yet. (The box seen in the picture is the 1986 box.)

Also featured at the event were pictures of MP Skywarp, Nike Free 7.0 Ultra Magnus, and movie memorabilia including the Bumblebee car. Click here to see the pictures from the event.

Music Label Convoy will be releasing very soon. It looks like Transformer fans in Hong Kong have already begun receiving their shipments. Folks in Japan should be receiving their supplies sometime this week, which means that folks in other countries should be receiving a confirmation very soon from their online retailers.

Music Label Convoy has a few interesting features. The mold is based on G1 Optimus Prime with a few twists. The most obvious one is that he comes in white. Despite being white, he is still being released as “Convoy” and not as “Ultra Magnus”. The figure will include a remolded head that is based off of MP Prime. Music Label Convoy will be pulling a trailer that flips open to reveal a set of working speakers, which will dock with any iPod or iPod Nano.

Naughtyguy060709’s blog shows a shot of the box art.

Owning MP Megatron in Australia

For those who may have missed all the news a few months ago when Masterpiece Megatron was released, a number of Australian collectors found their MP Megatron's seized by Australian Customs.

They had decided that MP Megatron was to be classified as a "replica firearm" and could only be imported if you had appropriate licenses and what not.

Not all Megatron's were seized and some made it through, but a number of them were which spurred Australian Collector Tiby (a practicing Lawyer) into action to help his fellow collectors get their hands on Megatron without too much hassle.

The result hasn't been highly overwhelming but the Government and Customs have made regulations for collectors to import and own Megatron legally.

The full story

Tiby :
Announcement on 25 September 2007 by Police Minister David Campbell. Click here

I am setting up a collector's club which will be open for collectors to join, and thereby fulfil one of the requirements for owning Masterpiece Megatron. To quote the Minister, the requirements are as follows:

· Undergoing a criminal and probity check;

· Providing a genuine reason for ownership of the toy;

· Providing proof of membership to a collector’s club; and

· Abiding by safe storage, surrender and disposal requirements.

The criminal and probity check is a Firearms Registry requirement, and usually done by local police.

A genuine reason for ownership of the toy is that a person is a collector of Transformers.

Proof of membership of a collector's club will be part of what I will provide in the club.

Safe storage includes a locked cabinet. I recommend the following:

Display and Rack Systems

I will update this site as the club progresses with more details on how to join.

Thanks for your support!

The collector's club he's setting will no doubt be Australian only, however if you're Australian and already a member of the international club that should cover you.

Either way, plenty of hoops to jump through just to own a toy.

IDW writer Simon Furman has once again updated his Blog, this time talking about the work he and Ben Yee put into created the upcoming Beast Wars Sourcebooks.

Some excerpts from his blog post can be found below:

But a unified Beast Wars universe, one that amalgamates the US Beast Wars TV series/toy line with its Japanese counterparts (BW II and BW Neo) and, for good measure, the convention/store exclusive toy characters. That was what we (myself and bwtf.com’s Ben Yee) set out to do when (over a year ago now) we began to craft a four-issue sourcebook/profile series for Transformers Beast Wars, the first issue of which is available next week. No easy task, as there are elements of the Japanese shows that just aren’t easily compatible with the US series.

Over the course of the four issues, no less than 162 characters are profiled, and (in issue #4) there’s an extensive glossary. Entries vary from one to two to three pages, depending on number of alt. forms or variations. Main characters, such as Optimus Primal and Megatron get the full three-page treatment, even including early (unused in the TV show) forms such as bat Primal and croc Megatron. It took a good chunk of time to write all four issues, and longer still for IDW editorial to commission the illustrations and compile the books. But here we are at last. Beast Wars Sourcebook #1 hits the stores on Oct 3rd (US) and Oct 4th (UK).

BoxOfficeMojo.com and ComingSoon.net are both reporting that Transformers 2 is currently scheduled for a June 26th, 2009 release date. I highly doubt that date is set in stone, especially with the news that the G.I.Joe movie is also scheduled for a 2009 date. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.

As a way to make it up to everyone for the late books, I just posted an exclusive at our boards--the identity of the character featured in the next TF Spotlight, and the cover and three pages by the artist, too--someone who's never done work at IDW before (no, his initials aren't "P.L."):
