The Movie Reporter
has put up a video interview
with none other than Tom DeSanto, co-producer of next year's blockbuster movie of the Transformers.
IESB.net caught up with Tom DeSanto at the 32nd Annual Saturn Awards to support Ringers: Lord of the Fans. Amoungst other things, DeSanto was asked a few questions regarding the Transformers movie. You can view the six minute clip
on their website.
"We start shooting in three more weeks. So I think there is going to be a rapid fire announcement very rapidly coming your way. And there should be an announcement, I heard through the trades, that the announcement of Jon Voight being signed should be heading to the trades tomorrow"
[Murphy] was the new guy. But Don had the passion for the original voices. And he won me over! So I am supporting the original voice actors. You know,
[Peter] Cullen and
[Frank] Welker should be... They're the reason that people empathize with those characters. And you don't care about Megatron or Optimus Prime in alot of the other incarnations as much as you do as when those actors were voicing those parts"

Sydney Confidential, Burn, and grifter of Theyareamongus.com
Our own Burn has brought some new movie news to our attention. It looks like actress Rachel Taylor will have a role in the upcoming Transformers movie as reported by the Sydney Confidential. Here is a the copy of the article:
From Sydney Confidential
May 03, 2006
"RISING actor Rachael Taylor is poised to take the "Aussiewood's next big thing" baton from compatriot Sophie Monk after being earmarked for a part in the big-budget remake of Tranformers: The Movie.
The stunning 21-year-old, who played vixen Sasha Forbes on shortlived Channel 7 drama Headland, has been in LA in recent months in a bid to land a breakthrough gig.
It appears that role has arrived, with industry reports linking her to Pearl Harbour director Michael Bay's adaptation of the cartoon.
Taylor, who has deferred studies at the University of Sydney, is tipped to play "a super-hot and super-smart codebreaker" in a revamped battle between duelling alien races the Autobots and the Decepticons.
Screen great Jon Voight, John Turturro (O Brother, Where Art Thou?), Michael Clarke Duncan (The Green Mile) and Josh Duhamel (Las Vegas) are also mooted for roles in the new flick"
to read the original article.
Part of Burn's original post:"As an Australian i've never heard of her and I only caught Headland once and it reminded me too much of Home and Away and ... yeah, 'nuff said for that!"

We have received another update from Malin of Iacon One. Malin has passed along some great news about guest who will be attending the convention. Voice actors David Sobolov and Scott McNeil will be attending the Iacon One convention. Here is the update:
"May 3, 2006:
The Stasis Lock group is proud to announce our complete voice actor guest lineup for Iacon One, celebrating the 10th anniversary of Beast Wars: (For pre-registration and other information, visit the Iacon One web site today!)
1) Previously announced, VENUS TERZO, the voice of the femme fatale Blackarachnia on "Beast Wars" and its sequel, "Beast Machines".
Venus is well-known for several other voiceover roles, such as the title role in the English dub of "Ranma 1/2", and Jean Grey on "X-Men Evolution".
Venus has also worked in feature film, movies of the week, and a variety of television series; In 1999, she won a Leo Award for Best Actress for her work on "Da Vinci's Inquest" as homicide detective Angela Kosmo in "Da Vinci's Inquest", a role she reprised in "Da Vinci's City Hall".
2) Joining us for his first Transformers fan convention appearance, DAVID SOBOLOV, the voice of the intense Maximal 'anti-hero' Depth Charge on "Beast Wars"!
David's other television voice credits include the title role in the "Robocop: Alpha Commando" series, Lord Tyger from "Spider-Man Unlimited", and Sergei in the English dub of "Key the Metal Idol". His voice can be heard on many radio ads, movie trailers, and documentaries.
David has also contributed voices to some of the video game industry's hottest games, including Everquest II, Call of Duty, Homeworld, and 50 Cent: Bulletproof.
3) Finally, a Beast Wars celebration just wouldn't be the same without fan-favorite guest SCOTT MCNEIL. "The voice of Beast Wars," Scott provided the voice of not one but FOUR regular characters on Beast Wars - Dinobot, Rattrap, Silverbolt, and Waspinator.
Scott reprised the voices of Rattrap, Silverbolt, and Waspinator in "Beast Machines", the sequel to "Beast Wars", and has continued to add Transformers voices to his resumé, including Jetfire in "Transformers Armada", Strongarm (and again as Jetfire) in "Transformers Energon", and Snarl and Backstop in the current "Transformers Cybertron" series.
Outside of Transformers, Scott's many voice credits include Wolverine from "X-Men Evolution", Ace the Bathound and Ignatius in "Krypto: The Superdog", Koga in the English dub of "Inuyasha", Beast Man, Clawful, Mer-Man, Ram Man, Stratos, and Kobra Khan on "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe", Vulture, Electro, and Lester from "Spider-Man Unlimited", and many, MANY more!
Scott has also appeared in a variety of live-action series and other projects including The Green Chain, Stargate SG-1, Strange Frequency, The Outer Limits, Highlander, Viper, and The Commish.

During the interview, Neil talks about how he got into voice acting, the types of work he does beyond animation, and of course, his experiences on RiD.
From that page, click on the photo to watch, though I reccommend you download it, as it is about 16 megs. Let me know what you think.

The Transformers have appeared for the third time in comedy animation show Robot Chicken. The news sketch involved a flu epidemic that even affected Giant Robots. One scene involved a flu stricken semi dismantled Devastator flailing about on the floor only for Optimus Prime to seise the opportunity and kick him over the horizon!
