The Movie Reporter has put up a video interview with none other than Tom DeSanto, co-producer of next year's blockbuster movie of the Transformers. caught up with Tom DeSanto at the 32nd Annual Saturn Awards to support Ringers: Lord of the Fans. Amoungst other things, DeSanto was asked a few questions regarding the Transformers movie. You can view the six minute clip on their website.

"We start shooting in three more weeks. So I think there is going to be a rapid fire announcement very rapidly coming your way. And there should be an announcement, I heard through the trades, that the announcement of Jon Voight being signed should be heading to the trades tomorrow"

[Murphy] was the new guy. But Don had the passion for the original voices. And he won me over! So I am supporting the original voice actors. You know, [Peter] Cullen and [Frank] Welker should be... They're the reason that people empathize with those characters. And you don't care about Megatron or Optimus Prime in alot of the other incarnations as much as you do as when those actors were voicing those parts"

Our own Burn has brought some new movie news to our attention. It looks like actress Rachel Taylor will have a role in the upcoming Transformers movie as reported by the Sydney Confidential. Here is a the copy of the article:

Transforming Taylor
From Sydney Confidential
May 03, 2006

"RISING actor Rachael Taylor is poised to take the "Aussiewood's next big thing" baton from compatriot Sophie Monk after being earmarked for a part in the big-budget remake of Tranformers: The Movie.

The stunning 21-year-old, who played vixen Sasha Forbes on shortlived Channel 7 drama Headland, has been in LA in recent months in a bid to land a breakthrough gig.
It appears that role has arrived, with industry reports linking her to Pearl Harbour director Michael Bay's adaptation of the cartoon.

Taylor, who has deferred studies at the University of Sydney, is tipped to play "a super-hot and super-smart codebreaker" in a revamped battle between duelling alien races the Autobots and the Decepticons.

Screen great Jon Voight, John Turturro (O Brother, Where Art Thou?), Michael Clarke Duncan (The Green Mile) and Josh Duhamel (Las Vegas) are also mooted for roles in the new flick"

Click here to read the original article.

Part of Burn's original post:"As an Australian i've never heard of her and I only caught Headland once and it reminded me too much of Home and Away and ... yeah, 'nuff said for that!"

We have received another update from Malin of Iacon One. Malin has passed along some great news about guest who will be attending the convention. Voice actors David Sobolov and Scott McNeil will be attending the Iacon One convention. Here is the update:

"May 3, 2006:

The Stasis Lock group is proud to announce our complete voice actor guest lineup for Iacon One, celebrating the 10th anniversary of Beast Wars: (For pre-registration and other information, visit the Iacon One web site today!)

1) Previously announced, VENUS TERZO, the voice of the femme fatale Blackarachnia on "Beast Wars" and its sequel, "Beast Machines".

Venus is well-known for several other voiceover roles, such as the title role in the English dub of "Ranma 1/2", and Jean Grey on "X-Men Evolution".

Venus has also worked in feature film, movies of the week, and a variety of television series; In 1999, she won a Leo Award for Best Actress for her work on "Da Vinci's Inquest" as homicide detective Angela Kosmo in "Da Vinci's Inquest", a role she reprised in "Da Vinci's City Hall".

2) Joining us for his first Transformers fan convention appearance, DAVID SOBOLOV, the voice of the intense Maximal 'anti-hero' Depth Charge on "Beast Wars"!

David's other television voice credits include the title role in the "Robocop: Alpha Commando" series, Lord Tyger from "Spider-Man Unlimited", and Sergei in the English dub of "Key the Metal Idol". His voice can be heard on many radio ads, movie trailers, and documentaries.

David has also contributed voices to some of the video game industry's hottest games, including Everquest II, Call of Duty, Homeworld, and 50 Cent: Bulletproof.

3) Finally, a Beast Wars celebration just wouldn't be the same without fan-favorite guest SCOTT MCNEIL. "The voice of Beast Wars," Scott provided the voice of not one but FOUR regular characters on Beast Wars - Dinobot, Rattrap, Silverbolt, and Waspinator.

Scott reprised the voices of Rattrap, Silverbolt, and Waspinator in "Beast Machines", the sequel to "Beast Wars", and has continued to add Transformers voices to his resumé, including Jetfire in "Transformers Armada", Strongarm (and again as Jetfire) in "Transformers Energon", and Snarl and Backstop in the current "Transformers Cybertron" series.

Outside of Transformers, Scott's many voice credits include Wolverine from "X-Men Evolution", Ace the Bathound and Ignatius in "Krypto: The Superdog", Koga in the English dub of "Inuyasha", Beast Man, Clawful, Mer-Man, Ram Man, Stratos, and Kobra Khan on "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe", Vulture, Electro, and Lester from "Spider-Man Unlimited", and many, MANY more!
Scott has also appeared in a variety of live-action series and other projects including The Green Chain, Stargate SG-1, Strange Frequency, The Outer Limits, Highlander, Viper, and The Commish.

Stock is running low in Japan on these, but we have a nice amount of them in transit and arriving soon - these are some of the better Yamato valks in nearly 2 years - great paint schemes.

STAR WARS VINTAGE SAGA FIGURES: Hasbro just allocated a mountain of these hot items to us, when we fill all existing preorders in our system we'll have open stock for a large number of new orders. We expect these in on or before May 15th so the wait is almost over - get your pens ready to fill out the mail-in offer for the George Lucas Stormtrooper - which is also packed in the vintage style card with protector case.

SPAWN CYBER-UNITS: A nicely repainted set of figures that originally came out waaay back when BBTS first began dealing with McFarlane. Get your Cyber-Units set for just $59.99 and build yourself one big figure.

TAKARA MICROMAN: The next wave of 2006 Micromen - the Assassin figures will be here in around 10 days - we have limited preorders left on the 6 upcoming arrivals and more new preorders for the next wave are posted.

other more recent Transformers (including 20th Primes). There are some
very hard to find figures here, some that we've never had in stock before
- check out the recent vintage arrivals list here:

NINTENDO DOTS: These looked pretty cool from the initial pictures we had, and upon arrival they are even better. Hefty sets each contain a bunch of extra dots to create not just the two characters pictured on the front of each box simultaneously, but you can also create several alternate characters from each game. Dots sets now in stock are: Mario, Luigi, Zelda, Ice Climber, Balloon Fight, Xevious, Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Dig-Dug - starting at only $9.99 each for these imports.

FAMILY GUY WACKY WOBBLERS: For only $9.99 each, these are pretty cool items - your choice of Stewy, Brian, Quagmire or Evil Monkey come in a themed display box.

TRANSFORMERS: The BWR-01 set of Optimus and Megatron has been restocked at $94.99 each - this was a fairly small shipment so they likely won't last too long. As we were about to run out, more #21 Blasters have just
arrived - get yours now at $46.99. Twincast is approaching 90% sold out
and we won't be able to get any more so don't wait too long on this one.
A variety of Galaxy Force figures have also been restocked.

= gamera

GUNDAM - CHOGOKIN HYAKU-SHIKI: This awesome die-cast Gundam has been pretty scarce for the past few years, but Bandai will be producing more of them soon! We have a preorder listed at $57.99 and they are scheduled to arrive in October.

TIE FIGHTER PILOT STATUE - ATTAKUS: The latest release from Attakus' high-end line of collectible statues. We have the TIE Pilot listed $30 under the MSRP at $369.99

MONA LISA STATUE: More quality items from Attakus - the Mona Lisa statues stand around 8 inches tall and there is a painted version and a marble-esque white monochrome version.

12" SPAWN FIGURES: McFarlane has unveiled the next two 12" figures.
Mandarin Spawn 2 and Spawn from the cover of issue #7 are each priced at $28.99

SIMPSONS BOXED SET #2 - COUCH GAG: This set is pretty innovative, the figures are all stackable so you can recreate the opening couch scene as you see fit with many different combinations - $19.99 for this set.

X-3 X-MEN MOVIE BUSTS: Pictures of these new busts from Diamond have just surfaced and they look great. Each of the 5 busts is priced at $45.99

jeff1385 gave the head up on the Energon Pub about a video interview he did with Neil Kaplan, the voice of Optimus Prime in Robots In Disguise, for Voicetrack.

During the interview, Neil talks about how he got into voice acting, the types of work he does beyond animation, and of course, his experiences on RiD.
