Don Figueroa stopped in our very own comic book forum to visit for a bit, and who knows, you may just see him around Seibertron posting here or there.

Don was kind enough to take some time out and tease and talk to some of our community. Check out the original thread here and post some kind words to Don if you'd like.

The second thing that I wanted to mention was that Don shared a very AWESOME sketch from his sketchbook (See the piece below!). According to Don, this sketch is a 2-3 year old design he did for HASBRO. He also shared that this sketch should be one of those included in IDW's The Best of Don Figueroa collection.

Thanks to Don for all his very creative artwork, bringing alive our beloved characters, and inspiring lots of folks to pick up a pencil and paper and have a go at it themselves.

Keep up the great work!

But wait! There's more! Apparently, our own Boss pulled the wool over our eyes too and Ramulus is NOT the figure that brought about this "He is coming...." madness.

Stay tuned to Seibertron.com as we should all find out in about an hour who is exactly coming to Seibertron.com!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Creators of Transformers: Beast Wars: The Gathering Are Back!

IDW Publishing to release a new Beast Wars miniseries by Furman and Figueroa, in addition to an all-encompassing Beast Wars Sourcebook

San Diego, CA (August 14, 2007)—Transformers: Beast Wars fans have a lot to celebrate this month. IDW Publishing will publish a follow-up to the first-ever Beast Wars miniseries, “The Gathering,” by the same fan-favorite creators. In addition, IDW Publishing is unveiling the first issue of a long-requested, comprehensive character guide to all Beast Wars characters.

Furman and Figueroa Collaborate on Beast Wars: The Ascending

Writer Simon Furman and artist Don Figueroa have teamed up again to follow-up their acclaimed Transformers: Beast Wars: The Gathering miniseries. This next chapter will be a four-part miniseries entitled Transformers: Beast Wars: The Ascending. The previous miniseries launched in early 2006 as a celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Beast Wars animated series, and left fans clamoring for more.

“The re-pairing of this beloved writer and artist is exactly what fans have been wanting to see,” said Chris Ryall, editor-in-chief and publisher of IDW Publishing. Since their first Beast Wars collaboration, “there has been a steady stream of requests for the return of these fan-favorites,” said Ryall. “The demand for this pairing has just grown over time. And this comic book has even more appeal because people know what they are in for.”

The Ascending spirals out of events in The Gathering. Magmatron, a disembodied entity that exists out of time and space, is witness to Cybertron’s unchecked descent into chaos and madness—all a prelude to its complete and utter destruction. Powerless to directly affect this terrifying apocalypse, Magmatron’s last desperate recourse is to try and bring his greatest enemy, Razorbeast, together with fellow Maximals Lio Convoy and the pack.

Hitting comic stores in August, The Ascending #1 is the first chapter of this new four-part miniseries.

Transformers: Beast Wars Sourcebook Released

Also from IDW Publishing, Furman has teamed with Ben Yee, a consultant for the Beast Wars TV series, to present an all-encompassing, unifying resource about Beast Wars. From Air Hammer to Wolfang, the Sourcebook highlights the characters, worlds and technology from all generations and incarnations of Beast Wars. The Sourcebook details who each character is, what side they are on and what their abilities are. It features all-new art from a host of the greatest Transformers artists, including Don Figueroa, Guido Guidi, James Raiz, Nick Roche and Rob Ruffolo, as well as many more. This special series will be comprised of four bi-monthly, 48-page, ad-free editions.

Chris Ryall, the editor-in-chief of IDW Publishing has posted an update on the IDW forums where he talks about his recent work at the Comic-Con and Chicago convention and his future plans for IDW, including new Spotlights and new comic series. He also talks about his impressions of the new Transformers Animated series.

But most interesting is the fact that he has revealed what the bonus feature on the Transformers Movie DVD will be. The rumoured "additional footage" that voice-actor Mark Ryan had mentioned awhile back is in fact an animated version of the IDW Movie Prequel comic series, with Peter Cullen again reprising his role as Optimus Prime. According to Chris Ryall, this bonus feature will only be available with the Wal-Mart excusive version of the Transformers Movie DVD, no official release date has been set as of yet, so stay tuned to Seibertron.com for more info.

See the whole post by Chris Ryall here.

:
Between Comic-Con, last weekend's Chicago con, and a trip to Hasbro, plus all kinds of general work overload, I know I haven't been around here much. But that doesn't mean I don't care...

In fact, in that time away from here, I've been making plans. Big plans. And then off to Hasbro to run these plans by the Powers-That-Be. And lo and behold, they loved them and are into said plans. Which means that 2008 is going to be BIG. I don't say this with any hyperbole, but next year's going to really rock your worlds.

These plans include movie-related comics, multiple Spotlights, another crossover, a new mini- (or maybe maxi-)series that will really wow you and answer some old questions, and the big SOMETHING ELSE. I'm pretty excited.

I also watched the new Transformers Animated Movie, the kick-off of the upcoming series, and it's a blast. I actually thought it might be a bit too "young" since it's aimed at the 5-9 crowd, but I shouldn't have questioned Sam Register and his crew--it's a lot of fun, and the characters and voices are great. As are the new toys, that looks just like the designs. I know people have taken shots at it based on the little bit they've seen online, but it's gonna win people over. Especially that first scene.

Oh, one other TF thing--I watched the DVD extra that's going to be included on the Wal-Mart only Movie DVD release. It's an animated version of the entire Movie Prequel miniseries, with voicework from Peter Cullen and others. Good sound effects, cool movement of panels and voices... it's pretty awesome to see our comic turned into something like that. And having Cullen speak our words is an insanely exciting thing, too.

So, yeah, good times are ahead.

Comics Continuum has posted IDW's solicitations for November. Here is what we can expect to see:

THE TRANSFORMERS SPOTLIGHT: RAMJET

Written by Stuart Moore, art by Robby Russo, covers by Guido Guidi and Musso.

Spinning out of the hit miniseries New Avengers/Transformers! Meet Ramjet, a lone wolf Decepticon whose plans involve nothing less than the overthrow of Megatron himself! But is Ramjet the master schemer he believes, or just another pretender to the throne?

THE TRANSFORMERS: DEVASTATION #3

Written by Simon Furman, art by E.J. Su, covers by Su and Nick Roche.

If you thought "Doc" Ratchet got off lightly last issueŠ think again! He's out on his own, on the run (with Verity and Jimmy to protect) and he's got Decepticon living weapon Sixshot on his case. Sounds distinctly terminal to us! Plus, more action and carnage from the Headmasters, more on the fate/destiny of Hunter/Sunstreaker and the Reapers make their move!

TRANSFORMERS: BEAST WARS: THE ASCENDING #4

Written by Simon Furman, art by Don Figueroa, covers by Figueroa and Nick Roche.

The staggering conclusion! A last, desperate gambit, devised by Magmatron and enacted by The Pack and Ravage, is played out on Cybertron, but can anything now stop the ascension of the Nemesis and the terrifying, apocalyptic repercussions thereof? And on Earth, Razorbeasts's fate is sealed, and his destiny will forever shape the course of the Beast Wars! By the Transformers: Stormbringer team of Simon Furman and Don Figueroa.

THE TRANSFORMERS: BEST OF THE UK: DINOBOTS #3

Written by Simon Furman, art by Will Simpson, Barry Kitson and Tim Perkins, covers by Nick Roche, Retro Art.

The Autobots continue the Dino Hunt! Prowl and Optimus Prime monitor the teams under the command of Soundwave and Sideswipe as they attempt to round up the rampaging Dinobots -- including Grimlock. After the dust settles who will have the advantage -- the Autobots or the Decepticons? Nick Roche once again provides an all-new cover re-creating a classic scene from the issue!
