Steve White, editor of the upcoming Transformers comic book from Titan, has provided us with a few answers to some frequently asked questions.

What UK exclusive comic material can we expect in the new Transformers
publication?

So far we have six self-contained stories written by Simon Furman that although are stand-alones, will tie straight into the IDW prequels. After that, we're pondering our options; we have contracts for all the various Transformers properties so who knows where we'll end up?

What homegrown talent have you got lined up to work on the project?

Aside from Simon (obviously) and Geoff Senior, Andy Wildman and Nick Roche will be doing art for the following two issues. I'd like to see if I can get some of the other classic artists interested but I don't want this to be a complete nostalgiafest. We have to bear in mind we'll be picking up a whole new generation of fans who only know it from the film, so we can't afford to alienate them, especially as there'll probably be a lot more of them!

When is the new comic out, and how can fans contribute? What features, other than stories will the comic contain?

The first issue launches 19 July a week before the movie release [in the UK]. As well as the strip, we're running character profiles and a fun Celebrity Death Match-type feature along the lines of who would in fight between..?, both written by Simon. There'll be three strips: the IDW prequels, the originated prequel material, and Beast Wars reprints, just for a change of pace.

Steve White, Chief Editor for the UK Transformers comics by Titan Magazines, has been interviewed by fellow Transformers site TransFans. The interview goes in depth into the career of the man up to heading the new UK comics.

"My favourite artist was always Geoff Senior on Transformers – not just because he was the best to colour but just because I loved his style. It was a great moment for me when he drew the first strip I ever wrote (for Action Force) and then gave me the artwork! As a colourist, I loved working on his pages because they were so clean and crisp. Some artists didn’t finish their line work and you’d be colouring away and suddenly have nowhere to go. Geoff remained my favourite right up until I got to colour Alan Davis on Captain Britain. That was a real career high point"

IDW has once again updated their Wallpaper Gallery. This time they have added art from Transformers Escalation #6. Here is what IDW posted about their newest wallpaper:

"As the smoke clears over the Brasnya's disputed borders, who—if anyone—will be left standing? And in Fort Wayne, Indiana, will Custom Wheels become the final resting place for Verity and Jimmy? Get ready for triumph and tragedy on both fronts, with terrifying, far-reaching repercussions that promise only... DEVASTATION! One thing's for sure, this isn't over, not by a long shot! By Simon Furman (Transformers: Stormbringer) and E.J. Su (Transformers: Infiltration), with a variant cover and this desktop once again provided by Klaus Scherwinski."

Once again Simon Furman has updated his blog. In this latest entry Furman talks about the soon to be released UK Transformers Issue 3. According to Furman:

"The focus of #3’s story (and, as always, I’ll tiptoe around the fine details, so no major spoilers) is Ratchet, who (in the live-action movie incarnation of things) is much more of a brawler. Sure, he’s still a battlefield medic, but this Ratchet is quite willing to take on all-comers (and believe me, he does!). The trick with these focused ten-page character-led stories is to both tell a focused, ten-page character-led story (and make it a story in and of itself, rather than one part of six, as the overall arc is structured) and somehow find a way to sneak in cameos from other Transformers. Such is the way we’ve constructed the story (largely because we didn’t want to impact too directly on the Prequel comics and other pre-Movie stuff), with the focal Transformers scattered here and there in the far reaches of outer space (after the end of #2), it’s been a challenge to find ways to involve or reference the rest of the cast. But then, I like a challenge (it keeps things interesting), and so far so good. The ten pages of Ratchet action manages to shoehorn in a bunch of other characters, as does the Devastator story. Now, if only I can do the same for Ironhide (#5) and Jazz (#6)!"
