We are extremely proud and very happy to be able to announce that RetCon's first guest of honour will be none other than the one and only Nick Roche!
Having been a part of the IDW universe since the early years and written, co-written and illustrated such smash hits as Last Stand of the Wreckers and Sins of the Wreckers, he surely needs no further presentation.
Nick will be on site for RetCon both for the friday pre-hang-out and all of the main convention day.

We are very pleased to welcome IDW’s Transformers (formerly Robots in Disguise) ongoing series comic book artist Andrew Griffith to TFcon Chicago 2016.
He will be attending all days and offering prints and commissions to attendees all weekend long.
We are happy to welcome Jon Bailey to TFcon Chicago 2016. Known as the epic voice of Screen Junkies’ Honest Trailers, the long time Transformers fan can now be seen as Optimus Prime in Machinima’s Transformers: Combiner Wars animated web series.
Jon will be taking part in a Q&A panel and meeting with the attendees of the America’s largest fan-run Transformers convention all weekend long.
We are honored to welcome Transformers creator Bob Budiansky to TFcon Chicago 2016. Mr. Budiansky is responsible for much of the writing of the original Marvel Transformers comic, and conceived the names of most of the original Transformers including Megatron. He also wrote the vast majority of the descriptive tech spec biographies printed on the Transformers toy packages that Hasbro produced in the 1980s, giving each character it’s own unique personality.
Mr. Budiansky will be taking part in a Q&A panels and meeting with fans all weekend long.
ACME COMICS EXCLUSIVE TITANS RETURN VARIANT
Here's our latest exclusive variant! It is a wrap around cover for IDW's Titans Return one shot drawn by Chris Giarrusso which features an homage to the 1987 back of box art featuring Fortress Maximus and a ton of favorite characters and characters who will play roles in the storyline like Sentinel Prime. It is only $4.99 plus shipping costs if bought through our website.
According to my research, September 17th is when the Transformers More than Meets the Eye mini series first aired so we are hosting "Transformers Day" at our auxiliary shop "Acme Comics Presents" which is where we keep all of our Transformers action figures from G1 to Titans Return. We hope to make this an annual event!
We will have artists available draw, special Hasbro Revolution promotional comics to give away, and special one-day-only offers!
Cyrano wrote:Anyway, he's a very nice Transformer. It's a wonderful tablet, even if the screen does look a little shattered. Just like the real thing, his glossy screen is prone to picking up fingerprints.
He has nice, nonfunctional volume, power and lock buttons on the sides
And a headphone jack...
...That can snugly fit an actual pair of 'phones! It's very snug though, so I wouldn't do it often.
He has a pretty convincing camera in the back
But the rest of the back is pretty much just the best robot pancake you've ever seen.
For the transformation, the bottom part comes off
The back of it stores the two guns
...Which can combine stick together into a bigger gun.
The rest of the bottom part transforms into a little robot animal buddy. I've heard it called Laserbeak, but I think it looks a lot more like Ratbat. The tablet's dataport is a bit of a stretch as a face, but it's also kind of cute.
A chunk of the screen is also removed for transformation, which is then a shield for the robot. The inside has some nice sculpting, with bits that look like processors, etc.
The rest of the tablet transforms quite nicely. The robot is pretty thin, as expected, but adds extra bulk in pretty much all the right places to still feel like he has enough substance.
He's remarkably well articulated too, although a little quirkily. Lots of swivels and hinges, many of which are ratchety. His legs especially have a ton of range, including some of the most flexible ankles I've ever played with. He's well balanced too, thanks largely to his sizeable feet.
His biggest articulation limit is that his head doesn't move. In order to make it three dimensional enough, it's actually formed of three slabs. It's pretty fun and satisfying in the transformation, but definitely makes him less expressive.
Thanks to smart placement of the connection parts for the bottom part of the tablet, Ratbat can also connect to Soundwave's back as a pair of wings/fins/whatever. It looks nice and it's good to have the extra interaction.
Here he is alongside Device Label Soundwave and Vector Prime. Most of my robots are packed right now from a recent-ish move, so I didn't have any other Soundwaves handy.
That's all the pictures I took! If anyone has any questions or wants to see anything I didn't single out let me know!
We are very pleased to welcome artist Sara Pitre-Durocher to the Chicago guest list this year.
Sara has worked on IDW’s Combiner Hunters one-shot, The Transformers 46, 47 and 49, and is now the primary artist on the new ongoing comic book Till All Are One. While she will be attending all weekend, details on her signing times and where to get prints and commissions will be announced at a future time.
TFcon is proud to announce that Richard Newman will be appearing as a guest at this years convention in Chicago. Known to Transformers fans as the voice of Rhinox in Beast Wars, Tankor in Beast Machines and Vector Prime in Transformers Cybertron. Mr. Newman will be taking part in Q&A panels and signing for the attendees of the America’s largest fan-run Transformers convention all weekend long.
Due to the high demand for TFcon Chicago 2016 the Hyatt Regency O’Hare has added additional rooms to our hotel room block. If rooms become not available at the host hotel you will have the option to book down the road at the Aloft Chicago O’Hare.
