Several Transformers sites have reported that character names for a casting project called "Prime Directive" has lead them to believe that this was actually the casting for the upcoming Transformers movie.
Names dropped were Sam, Miguela Barns, Capt. William Lennicks, Maggie, John Kellar and Glen Whitman. Whether these names exist for the "Prime Directive" is not clear. However Don Murphy has dispelled or at the very least pointed out the mispelling of two of these names. He did so on his
board and
posted the following.
"Miguela is not a name in the script nor is Lennicks"
Last week the name of Sam was confirmed. At the moment there is still also no evidence to support that the similar rumor of Shia LaBeouf being cast in the part of Sam, holds any truth.

Don Murphy has made another one of his updates on his
board. Murphy has made a comment about the part for Sam/Spike being almost a done deal. The following has been taken from his
post on his
site.
"On Transformers it seems the amazing Mr. Bryce has been keeping you all caught up on our progress, so much so that I have little to actually report. I filed my notes with the writers- the structure and characters are great, the notes were just to help make things more "Transformery". Casting is going great and there seems to be almost a consensus for young SAM/SPIKE. Yes you've seen him before and yes you'll groove on him- should he end up with the role. The other roles are still being cast and things are looking good.
We are one month and one week away from shooting. I 'm pretty freaking excited and hope you all are too."

board of Don Murphy! The following quotes from Bryce can be found
here,

Scott Farrar is the ILM vfx supe
There are two Jeff Mann's....one is a production designer and one is an ILM exec who used to be a model supervisor there..."
"Other key crew:
John Frazier - Special Effects

"No cast set yet....soon though....not accurate to say some faction of production wants celeb fest....think everyone wants good actors first - if they are celebs too that doesn't hurt...
yes, Deb Scott won an Oscar......fyi John Frazier and Scott Farrar have also won one..."
