We're back again!

After a minor update to the game by Seibertron, the staff asked you for your ideas and suggestions for new weapons for the game.

You gave us suggestions by the hundreds.

After a very busy few weeks picking our favorite ones, arguing about them a bit, abandoning the whole list and starting over and arguing some more, we are finally able to announce the staff top 10, here's Burn with the details...

Burn wrote: So after going through all your submissions, the staff have sat down and come up with a list of 10 potentially new weapons that we'll be introducing into the game.
But to do that, we're turning things back over to you guys to vote on which one you'd like to see first.

So get voting as you only have two weeks to vote!

The list is:
Cosmic Rust Cannon
Cyber Potato Cannon
Quad Beam Cannon
Hellfire Shotgun
Magnus Hammer
Distortion Field
Shark Launcher
Eldrich Energy
Laser Burst
Restraining Order

This is the best of the players suggestions that were not already pencilled in for the game. There will more updates, more weapons (a small percentage of which many will have already seen) and more toys to play with over the coming weeks and months, so stay tuned to the HMW general discussion forums for more information, if you have any questions about the game or just want to brag about killing your foes.
The HMW Staff have put together, for you, the playing public, a tournament with a couple of different games, backed up by not one, but two stories.
Our first story will be tournament driven and involves both Autobots and Decepticons racing to obtain technology that could change the war.
Our second story will be told out over a number of days, it's a story told from the future about the past.
The HMW Staff encourage as many of you that are active HMW players to join in, and if you're not an active HMW player, then we hope you enjoy our stories we've put together for you.
- Good evening. I'm Zombie Cheerleader

- And I'm the other one. Tonight we bring you a special report on Decahex, and the increasing levels of violence in the region that may or may not be as a result of the collapse of Cybertrons last remaining energon mine. We now pass you over to Hazard, our expendable reporter who we only send to the really dangerous places:

did I do to deserve this? Last time I sign anything Psychout tells me t-*Gah! That was close!* What?? Oh, I'm here on the outskirts of Decahex mine 4 which, until last week, was the last remaining active mine on Cybertron. Accident investigators have now fled the scene, but their initial findings point to a deliberate act of sabota*AAARGH!!*. Phew. Despite the mines extensive security and the region being demilitarised many centuries ago it is certainly clear that whoever was able to get in here had high level clearance and good knowledge of explosives. Naturally, both factions want to ensure that whatever remains of the mines ore is taken for their purposes and so there has been fierce fighting all over the zone with many casualties, mostly accident investigators. Outposts from both factions have now called for reinforcements and the way tensions are escalating it would appear- *WOAH!! that was too close! Someone tell these idiots to stop shooting at u-* Ahem. Now, nowhere is safe in this region. Both factions have fortified various entrances to the mine and have dug in deep in preparation and are heavily armed. It is going to be a long battle, and *HEY! WATCH IT, JOURNALIST!!*
...I'm getting the hell out of here!

- Hazard there, reporting bravely from a long way way behind the front lines.

- With the destruction of Mine 4, most supply routes across Cybertron have been heavily disrupted so we decided to check in on Iacon's barracks, where various Autobot commanders have reported in after last weekends neural upgrade request. We now go live to Prowl as he gives his soldiers another briefing on the situation...

As you all know, the field test will in Decahex next week and these units will be fitted in the next few days. You will relieve the security and investigation teams, allowing them to establish exactly who is responsible for the mines destruction, hopefully by recovering the real security tapes and not the faked one those idiots at WarPorn News have been broadcasting. No one here thinks it's a coincidence that only a 'senator' would have access to the mine schemat

- Ah, we'll just leave that there.

- And finally, we have a statement from Starscream, who has taken time out from his usual deliveries to bring us this message:

Decepticons, you have 4 days left to to upgrade your Neural Scanners before we head out to take what's left of Decahex for the Decepticon empire. I don't need to tell you how important this mine is to our cause. So remember, Megatron does not tolerate failure and neither shall I!

- So there you have it - 4 days left to report in for the upgrade, and reinforcements will be deployed in a week. Hmmm. Does any one here think that not broadcasting all these details publicly might prevent a lot of the bloodshed and violence or could maybe help bring peace to our crippled planet?

- Nah.

4 days left to sign up...

The New Althunt
Tired of seeing the same altmodes reset in, reset out?
Think Thundercracker is still fighting for the wrong faction?
Want to join the elite ranks of the Prime clones as a Decepticon?
Ever wondered what it would be like to beat on your enemies using one of their own altmodes for a change?
(Never played HMW and fancy giving it a try?)

Then you need... The New Althunt!

The premise is simple: Identify an enemy altmode you want for one of your minions. Hunt it down, scan its corpse 20 times and bring that data back to the Senate.

When you have 20 scans, we at the Senate will reformat your soldier into the alt you have selected.

And there you have it!

What's that Psychout? We can steal any alt we want from our opponents? Wow!
That's right kids!
1) Choose the alt you want from these lists :BOT: or :CON:
2) Find an opponent formatted to use that altmode.
3) Kill it. Kill it again. Kill it some more. Kill it harder. Keep killing!
4) Brag about all the killing in the claims thread!!
5) ?????
6) PROFIT!!

20 kills are all that's needed to get that toaster you’ve always wanted!

However, its not very likely that the alt will be easy to find nor that it will be the same level as you, so unfortunately there have to be some 'special' rules:

For every level the target is above you, add an extra +1 to your score.
If an (e.g.) L3 kicks the ass off an L5 it would count as 3 points (1 for the kill, +2 for the level difference) towards your 20.
If the alt you want is unused, or there is no active opponent using that alt then, by prior arrangement, you may bring us the heads of 20 similar members of its alt class.
Clarified: Tell the Senate of the problem, then kill 20 alts of the same class as the one you are after if you have no way of finding the one you want. Thanks Rolltide!
Be warned though - you will not be allowed to use a modifier in this case, it must be 20 straight kills.
The alt will be applied to a nominated member of your team who must be the same altclass as the alt you are requesting, or you must have a bio that explains why it should be different.
i.e. If you decide you want a Jet alt but have no bio written for your minion, you must reset to the correct altclass before the staff will hand it over. If for example you wanted a Jet that can Ram and Avoid you would need a decent bio to back that up. The Senate will judge it, but you can modify your bios right up until you make the claim.
The awarded alt will last until you reset it, after that, you get to hunt it down all over again! Yay!
No, it will not be given back to you if you 'accidentally' reset your character, that's just dumb.
Please also note that Arena battles only count as half (because the Arena sucks.)
Duh!
There is no limit to the number of alts you can hunt
Feel free to keep coming back for more...

How to make a claim post:
Record the mission’s link once it’s done, then post it along with the alt you want. Edit the following victories into your post and then when you have scored the 20 (or 30) points, bring it to the attention of the Senate via PM, and we’ll take it from there.

Too post the image of the alt you want simply copy this bit of code, copy the link of the image you want and post it all.

Code: Select all

example claim post wrote:Pontiac Solstice
etc.

Think you can manage that?

Ever since Ryan flicked the switch on Heavy Metal War game, the HMW forums have been graced with many creative players. Some kitbashed, some photoshopped, some simply wrote fics while others drew renditions of their characters. But they all brought their HMW characters to life in some form.

Jason Tyler is a relatively new player to the game but he's kept on with the HMW creative tradition.

Drawing inspiration from the hugely popular Mosaics and HMW mission logs, Jason has created a short three part series entitled "Firestormers".

In an age long past…

Cybertron has not always belonged to The Transformers. Not long after the first Transformers came on line the planet was found by an empire under the control of a race known as the Quintessons.

The Quintessons saw the abilities of the Transformers and realized they had found the perfect weapon with which to expand their empire. The early Transformers, unaware of the wider galaxy, welcomed their arrival. All too quickly the Transformers had become slaves to the Quintesson Empire. Using the Cybertronian body as inspiration the Quintessons developed the Sharkticons, simple minded brutes that served as their foot soldiers, and their elite warriors known as Allicons.

However, the Cybertronian minds yearned for freedom, and the Transformers revolted. Slowly but surely, the drove the Quintessons off the planet. Such was their desire for freedom that it still drives the Transformers of today. The leaders of the rebellion became the first Primes, and the Quintessons passed into myth, for no living Cybertronian remembers that dismal age.

Their defeat on Cybertron marked the start of the Quintesson’s downfall. Soon enough their empire had collapsed as their numerous enemies banded together to drive the Quintessons from the worlds they claimed. Eventually their home world of Quintessa was at risk of being overrun. The Quintessons chose to destroy their home world rather than allow it to be captured. Their reign was over.

However…

Driven mad by their loss, the Quintessons became obsessed with regaining control of Cybertron, trying increasingly desperate gambits to seize control of the world. Eventually they struck a deal with the unholy entity known as The Fallen. While The Fallen’s ultimate aim remains a mystery, the goal of the Quintessons was clear. Sending in an invasion force of Sharkticons, the Quintessons began their war to retake Cybertron.

Ultimately, they failed. Faced with a common foe, the Autobots and Decepticons fought side by side to ensure the Quintessons could not restart their empire. Facing defeat, The Fallen betrayed his allies, unleashing an ion storm that destroyed the Quintesson fleet. As the surviving Quintessons fled they left their wrecked ships as testament to their foolishness in making such an unwise bargain.

Still, the Cybertronian forces were broken by the effort of fending off the invaders, and old enmities quickly tore the alliance apart. Neither the Autobots nor the Decepticons had the resources to claim the wrecked ships and so they were left untouched. Over time this region of Cybertron’s solar system became known as the Quintesson Grave or, often, simply “The Graveyard.”

Untouched, but not forgotten.

Time passed and the war for Cybertron continued as both sides recovered from the injuries inflicted. All the while the Transformers kept an optic trained on the sky, wondering if the Quintessons would return, or what they had left behind as they tried to escape the wrath of The Fallen.

The Present.

After the reintegration of the splinter factions known as the Maximals and the Predacons, both factions have found them selves with more resources than they have had for megacycles. The Autobot high command has decided to risk it’s new found wealth in a make or break mission to retrieve the scientific and technological knowledge left by the Quintessons in the The Graveyard, and have amassed a large task force led by Computron.

However, the Decepticons have learnt of this plan and committed a rival force, led by the mighty Devastator, to beat the Autobots to the Quintesson’s treasures. Now the race is on as both sides seek the treasures left behind in the wake of the Quintesson’s defeat.

As most of you know, Moggy has decided he wants something a bit more colourful than the 1982 ZX-Spectrum graphics we have currently, so we've decided to up the ante on the altmodes making them larger and more detailed (this 2009 after all!) Whats more, we've also decided to add robot modes, weapons and armourinto the mix as well.

So, to put it simply: If there is an alt, robot mode, weapon or eve a piece of armour you want in the game, please make an icon for it using the instructions below (now with Youtube tutorial video's!!!) and add it here along with its name and where you got the picture from. The staff will then add it into the game in depending on its suitability and how early Burn had to get up that morning.

Using the below instructions, I was able to make these 2 alts as an example:

Soundwave - <a class="postlink" href="http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/ ... ve/21/1/0/

Bugatti Veyron - http://blogs.sun.com/bigadmin/resource/ ... veyron.jpg
The first thing you'll notice is that they both look very 'grey'. This is because they are formatted so they can be custom coloured like the ones we have now just in much greater detail, so this is how they should look when done correctly.

With a bit of practice its quite simple. I made these on PaintShopPro 10 in about 10-15 mins. per alt, and its pretty much the same on Photoshop, and so if you have any problems we'll be on hand to answer them.

Feel free to have a go - and try some robot modes too!
Ill try and get an example of a robot mode up tonight for you...

Enjoy!

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Altmode/Robotmode/Weapon/Armor/Special Equipment Video Walkthrough

Step 1:

Open Image in Art Program

Step 2:

Select all background imagery that isn't going to be a part of the altmode. I do this using the "Magic Wand" selection tool that let's me select by color, hue, traditional or other choices. I make sure to go over the image to make sure I am selecting any background imagery that shows through holes or spaces that should be see through.

Step 3:

Invert selection so that the image I want to keep is what is now selected.

Step 4:

Copy selection and paste as a new image. This gives me the image I want to save as the alt on a clean transparent background and makes the image on as small of a canvas as possible.

Step 5:

Select all the background area again and create a new raster layer. Highlight the new layer and fill in the selected area with the HMW page background color. Then clear the selection.

Video Walkthrough Steps 1 through 5

Step 6:

Using selection tool of your choice select either the what you will choose to be the main color or the details. Once selected goto EDIT and CUT. Then Paste as a new selection. Move the selection till it is positioned where it was before you cut it out. Once placed, promote the selection to a layer.

Video Walkthrough Step 6

Step 7:

Clear the selection. The change to the main color layer and change it to black and white. (Check the different color filters so that you can fine the lightest conversion). Then go to the properties of the main color layer and change the transparency to 40%. The rest of the video is me making a new layer to test for color. I recommend doing this to make sure it is going to look right.

Video Walkthrough Step 7

Step 8:

Resize the image to 90 pixels at it's widest dimension. Then change the canvas size to 100x100 pixels being sure to keep the image centered. Then fill in the background of the newly created canvas with the background color.

Then change to the background layer and select the transparent area. Create a drop shadow on a new layer with a blur of 5.00. Change to the drop shadow layer and perform the same drop shadow four more times making sure that new layer is unchecked for the last four. Then move the layer so that it is on top of the background layer. And, clear the selection.

Video Walkthrough Step 8

Step 9:

I used the color layer I made for testing to check various colors. I do this to make sure it's going to look ok with the different colors.

Then delete the color test layer.

Export the image with the PNG tool and name it with "100" at the end.

Resize the image to 50x50 and Export again with the PNG tool and do the same name with "50" at the end instead of "100".

Video Walkthrough Step 9

The small print:

I want to apologize but there will be no monthly Transtopia art challenge this month, as someone needs the help of the superhuman life-forms that call themselves artists. Yes Seibertron.com's site game Heavy Metal War (HMW) is prepping for the conversion to 2.0!

Question: Now of what concern would that be for an artist?

Answer: The game needs a map!

So instead of Transtopia's monthly art challenge for October, I present you with the Transtopia "Give HMW a map of Cybertron" art contest!

Now, what HMW needs is a map of the planet of Cybertron but it has to be unique. There are actually many maps of Cybertron out there but they are all of a giant ball that never reveal what lies behind it and HMW's programmer needs a flat map.

Now the map should come with all the major locations of Cybertron like:

Iacon

Kaon

Thunderhead Pass

Crystal City etc., but also new cities and locations that you think would be cool.

Now the prize is that the winning map will be part of the game, will be used by all HMW players and full credit will be given to the map's artist.

As this is a bit of a difficult or more complex challenge you have till the 2nd of November to submit your map. All maps should be submitted in the appropriate thread by clicking here.

Updates to this event will be posted if needed.

And don't worry, the Transtopia monthly art challenge will be back for November so see you then!

UPDATE:

This is the first update on the Transtopia HMW art contest so if you want to know what this is all about please click here Thank you.

Hi guys, Im Psychout, one of the staff for the Heavy Metal War game and most of you will have already come across Burn at some point in here, we'll be two of the judges for this unique competition.

As this contest is to make a map for the actual game hosted here on SEIBERTRON.com and advertised across the entire internet and fanbase, the HMW staff have gathered together some information that we hope may be helpful for you.

The game setting will in a pseudo-G1 era outside of standard canon, and naturally some existing location details will need to be jumbled for game-logistical reasons, so please don't think you have to stay within the existing canon - feel free to use your imagination.

We also have of locations/zones we are currently considering for use in the game you are welcome to use, but again this is open to your interpretation as you guys are the artists, please feel free to involve as many or as few of these places as you'd like and add any you wish:
Iacon
Kaon
Altigon
Axiom Nexus
Ankmor & Gygax
Kalis
Neutral Territories
Novacron
Polyhex
Praxus
Rust Sea
Stannix
Thunderhead Pass
Tyrest province
Uraya
Vilnacron
Vos & Tarn
...

Please note this competition will also be opened to the players of HMW, so you might have some competition there. Feel free to drop into the Heavy Metal War: General Discussion forum if you have any questions, or contact any of the HMW staff via our PM's.

Thanks guys ...and good luck!!

This is the Smelting Pool League
Taking the Heavy Metal War and adding extra metal.

The art of the gladiatorial arena retuns to Cybertron as the 4 factions face off against each other in a league that tests both the tactics and experience of the HMW commanders to the limit.

Firstly, congratulations again to Symbiote Spiderman 14 of the Decepticons for being the first ever ICL: Smelting Pool League Champion. His reward will be the alt of his choice for the next round.
Can he retain his crown in round 2, or will the spider get tangled in his own web?
Only time will tell...

...but that time is now - so, here are the budgets for Round 2!
XP limit: 25,000,000 XP
Level: Seven
Everything else - weapons, armour tactics etc. is all up to you and there are no restrictions but, as always, there is to be no resetting once the start date has been passed and the game has begun.

The rules are simple; nominate a single member of your HMW team, calculate a configuration of no more than 25 million XP that falls in the level 7 range, then PM it to 'The Huntmasters' using the form in the post below.
Then, once the game starts, build your warrior and join in the arena battles posting your victories in the special thread in <ahref="energonpub/viewforum.php?f=164">HMW GD and the staff will do the rest.

The closing date for applications is 3rd July (thats a whole week away!) and the game is planned to start on the 6th July.

Also, as an advanced notice, scoring will be simplified - all you will need to do is list your Victories and shut-outs gloats (when your opponent scores 0xp) and this time and we will do the rest.

Anybody of any level can join the game, even if you weren't in round 1, but if you do have an existing SPL character you must re-submit that one, you are not allowed more than 1 league minion. Then, all you need to worry about is your energon, but your faction will be there to help you if you need it...

We have a special prize in store for the winner of round 2 - Make sure you get your characters backstory in order and listed as without it, you wont qualify for the prize...

Lastly, as a final note, please be sure to send configs only to The Huntmasters, If you have any questions please post them below or PM them to either Burn or myself directly.

The Beast Wars have returned!

The battle lines have been drawn and, orchestrated by the devious Predacon Wingspan, the fragile cease-fire that survived for centuries between the Maximals and Predacons has been shattered.

Which of the Beast factions will conquer both their ancient enemies and the hazardous the Sonic Wastes to take the Brightsoul Matrix for themselves?

And what of the Autobots and Decepticons? Will they just stand aside to watch these events, or have they rallied amongst themselves and prepared their own plan of action? *IF* you can follow the links, then you will find out.

Stay tuned to the Heavy Metal War forums to watch as the battle unfolds...

============================================================

The Maximal vs. Predacon tournament begins today! Read below for the details needed.

============================================================

Peace and treaties have been thrown aside because of the treachery of the Citizens of Chayot. The rogue Predacon team falsely summoned and then ambushed members of the Predacon High Command to renew the Beast Wars. Successfully framing the Maximals they have seeded information to both factions about a lost artifact of power, the Brightsoul Matrix, which is fabled to be a direct conduit for Primus’ power. With this artifact the faction commanders fear their enemies could easily overwhelm and conquer all of Cybertron. The Citizens of Chayot, under the command of their former captain Archistrategos, secretly intend to use the Brightsoul – along with lost the Autobot Matrix of Leadership – to revive their fallen ancestors and end the Great War.

Beast forces now line the Sonic Waste borders, preparing to plunge into intense urban warfare as they each hunt for the Brightsoul Matrix. Prepare now to fight for your faction’s survival!

============================================================

Segment 1 Rules – All missions which (a) are divisible by 5 and (b) have opposition will be counted as valid. Faction winner of Segment 1 is the most valid mission wins.

Starting Mission - #51050 (approximately 12 hours from now, 05:30 AM GMT)
Ending Mission - #51850 (approximately 36 hours after the starting #)

TRACK YOUR KILLS by posting them in this thread using the following format. Make one post and edit it as you go. Post only valid missions per above or your entry may not be counted.

Tournament organizers will validate kills posted. Tournament organizers also will perform a final tally of the missions wins after the ending mission number passes. Results will only then be posted.

Let the Beast Wars start again!

This is a HMW game tournament based on the Predacon and Maximal factions, which will be run over 3 stages beginning today. It was scripted by Wingspan, based on an idea by Absolute Zero and extended to involve the Autobots and Decepticons by Psychout.

Wingspan of the Predacons has kicked off the sign-up for our first big tourney of 2009, and its a battle between the Maximals and Predacons in a race to find the Brightsoul Matrix, an almost unknown artifact of great power.

All Maximal and Predacon players are invited to join in and race against your generations's enemies -
Which faction will be first to find the Matrix, and what will be left of those who who stand against them?

It all begins on the 2nd March, the day the Beast Wars will be re-ignited.

And if you are of the first generation - Autobots and Decepticons - call into your faction command chamber, as you will have your part to play too...

=============

Power wielded properly can be a tool of conquest, glory, and even benevolence. Improperly, and the iron fist of tyranny shall crush all before it. The aim for many however is not how to wield great power, simply to wield it at all. – Cybertronian Proverb

With Cybertron on the brink of self-destruction from energon depletion the warring forces of Maximals and Predacons have entered into an uneasy truce. Both factions hoped to forgo war to give time to science and innovation in healing their home.

Two centuries later the peace has amounted to little more than a temporary cease fire. The lofty hopes for peace were never realized. Cybertron is still deprived of its needed energy because neither of the two factions trusted the other enough to ignore potential conflict and make real efforts to healing their home.

Now tensions between their respective high commands over the lack of progress have lead to border skirmishes as tests to the enemies readiness. The battles have been lopsided, favoring one faction or the other, with rare demonstrations of the real force either side can offer. As the borders have continually grown more hostile and full war seems imminent all hopes to heal Cybertron seem lost.

One rogue collection of Predacons has quietly observed this change and is now choosing to take action. They have unearthed legends of a lost artifact in the Sonic Wastes of untold raw power, the Brightsoul Matrix, which could change all balances in the fight for Cybertron. With world-wide conflict already about to break out they are choosing to instigate the war now. The Beast forces will clash first in the Sonic Wastes and both Maximal and Predacon teams will have to choose – will they enter the region of Stanix and risk going permanently offline or will they allow unmeasured power fall into enemy hands?

Hey guys,
OS has made some alterations to the Heavy Metal War missions!

As well as modifying the mission brackets to account for our new level 4's over the next few days, we've tweaked a few of the mission genration rules in the hope that they work a bit better for you all from now on.

1) ALL Predacon and Maximal mission weightings have set to the lowest amount so they should now ONLY triggered by a Max/Pred being active.
2) Likewise, Bot v Con and Pred v Max mission weightings have been raised so these should now be the auto generated ones.
3) ALL BW v G1 missions have been reduced to 4v4 participants
4) Pred v Max missions have been left at 6v6

So, drop in to HMW:GD and tell us you think, is it any better?

Cybertron; a planet destroyed.

History calls it:
<size=120">Heavy Metal War: First Generation.

You watched, as for millennia the Autobots and Decepticons fought a civil war that ended when Optimus Prime, making the ultimate sacrifice, hurled himself and his nemesis Megatron into the core of Cybertron, uniting it with the Matrix.

The shockwave crashed all transformer-descended life across the universe.
The Great War was ended, but the cost was huge.

This was ‘The Great Reset’

The time for the First Generation was over, thus began:
<size=200">Heavy Metal War: The Organic Age

You saw Cybertron, devastated and drifting in space until struck by an alien asteroid.
From this, a new species of Transformer evolved; Efficient, smaller, just as powerful - maybe even deadlier. Heroic peacekeepers and warlike predators took the names Maximal and Predacon and war resumes for a new generation whilst the Autobots and Decepticons, reactivated as weapons of war, broke free to continue to their unending battle across Cybertron.

Now it is time for you to join that war.

Maximal, Autobot, Predacon, Decepticon; four factions fighting for Cybertron; to protect her; to bring her peace; to conquer her; to make her the seat of power in the universe. Will you choose to further Cybertron’s evolution and stop the archaic first generation tearing your planet apart or will you choose the fight to eradicate this new organic disease that has infected your home and decendants?

Chose your allegiance carefully:
Maximals; Reluctantly fighting the Predacon’s to bring order to your world, drawn deeper into conflict by the warlike ways of the ancient Autobots and Decepticons that ravaged the planet so long ago. All must be stopped if order is to survive.

Predacons; Fighting to seize control of Cybertron and purge the weak Maximal fools, to return the world it to its natural chaotic state ruled by us alone. If the ancients try to stand in our way, then they will be destroyed for none can oppose our might.
Or chose to follow the ancient path of the Autobot or Decepticon survivors, continue the great galactic war that raged across the universe, and purge the planet of all who would oppose you or threaten your freedom.

Defend or destroy, purge or protect?

Behind Enemy Lines Issue 2 has been publicly released. Rather than write my own comments, I might as well let its Chief Editor, Burn do the talking!

Yes, believe it or not, it's been close to a month since the last issue. But the time has passed and with a last minute rush here it is, Issue 2 of YOUR e-mag, Behind Enemy Lines, with not one, but TWO covers to celebrate the fifth anniversary of HMW! (Which was this weekend btw)

Here's the obligatory guide to downloading to enjoy.

• A zip file hosted at Rapidshare - Just download the file and unzip it and use your image viewing program to read

• A CBZ file hosted at Rapidshare - This is pretty much the exact same file as the zip file, just the extension is renamed. This is the format used for digital comics. To open it you need to use CDisplay to view them.

You only need to choose one method to view it, so don't download all three options. Just one will do you!
I'd also like to apologise in advance OS in case he took offense to my little photocomic. Normally i'd run these by the people in question first to get their okay, but due to my own poor organising skills I didn't get the chance to do it. So hopefully OS, you've gotten a chuckle out of it, if not, SORRY!

Seibertron.com's own Burn has posted a new monthy E-zine covering info, interviews and a peek behind the curtain of Heavy Metal War. Here is Burn's original post with the updated E-zine:

Welcome to "Behind Enemy Lines", what will hopefully be a monthly e-magazine dedicated to all things HMW.

It began by a suggestion from Hollow One that someone come up with an idea to fill in the gap left by Kamjin and Frontline's disappearance.

Thus Behind Enemy Lines was born. The concept is simple, showcase as much of the talent the HMW playing community has to offer as well as interviews, news, crosswords, well, basically anything that can be crammed into it that people will hopefully enjoy.

And hopefully we'll do it monthly!

As of Issue Zero there is only one full time position on the magazine "staff" and that's myself as Editor and Compiler. Will there be other positions opening up? Yes and No.

Because this magazine will be open to EVERYONE to contribute to. Whethere you can draw, write, photoshop, kitbash, compile a puzzle or whatever you feel you can contribute, you can. This is a magazine for YOU made by YOU. There are absoloutely no limitations on it.

Now I think i've just about covered everything in how this is hopefully going to work, so let me tell you about Issue Zero. It's a "preview" issue, 10 pages in total (including the cover). Seems a bit small? It is, because it's just that, a preview issue, to show you how the magazine will be set up.

We've got a sample of a REALLY old interview from Mkall.
Artwork of Gore.
MTMTE bios from Tammuz
A brief excerpt from JP's story for the "Echoes of the Past tournament.
And most importantly, an update on Alpha Strike!

So enough from me, it's time we got on with the show. At this current point in time you have three options for downloading and reading this comic.

• ImageVenue links, complete with thumbnails. - Just click on them to open them up and read. I went with IV because the files are too large for Seibertron.com's attachments option and too large for Photobucket.

Yeah, i'll shut up and post now.

Sorry for the delay in relaying this information to you guys. The site is currently running off a backup server right now. HMW will be down for the next 72 hours until this problem is resolved. Apparently the database server had a bad scuzzy drive which has been causing the problems with the bad database tables, according to ThePlanet (the company which hosts Seibertron.com's servers). This would explain why I wasn't able to create proper backups of the Forums, Demiurgic City and Heavy Metal War during the past few months. The only thing that looks like something wrong happened with this latest problem are the private messages but I haven't had a chance to check yet. Hopefully once this issue is resolved, everything will be back to normal. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused any of you.
It appears that sda is going bad, and will need to be replaced. Since this is a hardware failure you will need a restore and the restore, obviously will be of no charge to you. All we need is the go ahead to bring your server down for this maintenance or a good date and time thats convenient for you. Your server only holds two drives so we can remove your sdb drive temporarily to slave the old master to the new master drive for data recovery. Please let us know how you would like to proceed. Thank you.
