Michael Bay is ready to face the Transformers fandom once again as he gears up for the sequel to his blockbuster Transformers Movie, but this time, he's learned his lesson, and he's prepared to throw fans a few curve-balls in the process.

Rottentomatoes.com is reporting that director Michael Bay and team working on the sequel to this past summer's Transformers Movie will be purposefully leaking fake information, such as script treatments and ideas, to throw fans off the trail. He also confirms that the previous leaked script treatment, which had already been debunked by producer Don Murphy and others, is a fake, as we reported some time ago.

You can read the full report on Rottentomatoes.com by clicking here.

Michael Bay went through the wringer with the fanboys on Transformers. He addressed every concern -- early designs, scripts, remaining faithful to the source material -- and delivered a movie that won over most audiences, grossing nearly $320 million in America alone. But with Transformers 2 in development, Bay isn't taking any more lip service.

"One thing I do know is I know how to screw them up more," said Bay. "We're going to leak a lot of false information all over the place. I now know their game. They're going to get a lot of script treatments that they think are going to be the script. They will never see the script. We've got scripts and treatments written up that we're going to leak. No one's going to know."

Scoopers who currently think they're sitting on a hot one, here's a head's up. "There's one out that's fake right now. There are going to be many others."

In the days leading up to the writer's strike, Bay was in the trenches working on the sequel script. "Every day now. I'm excited about it. We've got Alex [Kurtzman] and Bob [Orci], the original writers, and we've got Ehren Kruger (Blood and Chocolate, The Ring), who's a new writer coming in. We have three very good writers."

All I can say is this...I sure as hell hope that they dont waste a bunch of time on energy on anything "fake." Think about it... they're using resources that could be utilized to make the movie BETTER!!

Honestly, it pisses me off when people reveal and ruin stuff for the rest of us. Thats why I AVOIDED anything having to do with the Movie till I saw it. The only thing I DID try and find out about were the toys.

Hats of to your creative "fakes," Mr. Bay... let's just hope the fakes 1) dont tax the already stretched creative resources out there and 2) It will suck if some of the decoys turn out to be better that the actual one when it comes around.

PS- Bay should just phish for some of us out here on Seibertron, send a little cash out way and we'll make 1,000 of fakes and decoys...and ours will probably sound better in premise than anything those HIGH paid writers whip out!!

I have some free time Mr. Bay!!!

Best. Idea. Ever.

Actually, I think I used it for one of my comics once. I had a character I was going to kill off, and when I announced that I was going to kill them, I included another character's name as a supposed "Clue."

Hehe, useful to keep people off your trail. And it's easier than you might think, just write up a couple of faked pages (Takes all of five minutes), make a dummy e-mail account (And making sure that the IP address is near DreamWorks, or something like "friend_of_a_friend@dreamworks.com") and send it to AICN, or SuperHeroHype.

Fake scripts, that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Oh tee-hee, I'm a tricky trickster and I'm going to throw you off my trail. Who cares? Spend the time, money, and effort on real resources that will make the movie better, not throw off people that are inevitably going to get a hold of a leaked script anyways. Maybe if you save every dime that goes to pay people for writing fake scripts, you can afford the CGI to have the actual Transformer characters perform their best lines with them on screen instead of someone else hiding in a ditch.

Fucks with the heads of fanboys. And considering how some of them behaved with the first movie they truly do deserve to be fucked with.

I didn't want the movie spoilt for me but I found it hard to avoid when some people freely discussed the early script to the first movie.

You know what, good for him! And even better, good for us.

I say that because I did my best to avoid as many spoilers as possible for TF1, but with the amount of information out there, even in unrelated threads, I was getting information.

I wasn't happy about that, I wanted to see the movie fresh and not go in knowing every detail, and sadly, knowing every detail is just what happened

So go on, keep us guessing, give us goose chases, but more so, give us a good follow up that will entertain us with things we didn't already know!

I know not everyone feels this way, but for me...

Front paged and credited!

I just hope he doesn't do this with the bot designs. The story I don't care for, but when I see a new TF, I want to be sure it's a character who will be in the film, so I have time to warm up to the design.

I love the design style and everything, but sometimes they take an awful long time to warm up to (Starscream, Megatron...)

So....instead of leting everybody warm up to all the crap they're going to throw at everybody & get over it, they're going to keep everybody clueless untill the movie actually comes out, see some drastic unnecessary changes to something they feel very passionately about, & have critics & words-of-mouth throw this movie into the same catagory as Highlander 2.

The same thing happened to me. I didn't read the script, but I watched every single piece of footage that made it's way onto the internet, because I just couldn't wait. It kind of spoiled the movie for me as I went from one scene I knew to the next. I plan on going into TF2 without watching a single preview...but I really doubt that'll happen. :P

Umm... Didn't fan suggestion HELP Bay on the first movie? He decided to redesign Megatron's head, voice-audition Peter Cullen, and (presumably) renamed Soundwave to Frenzy in part because fans revolted at the initial premise.

The universe is established, and that helps, but I'd be a lot more comfortable if he had said, "I'm going to really pay attention to the fans more, because the best parts of the first film were often things I drew from them."

Bay takes criticism so poorly, he absolutely refuses to even hear it anymore. He'd be so much better as a director if he realized he doesn't already know everything about everything better than anyone.

I'd kinda like James Cameron to helm one of these. Say what you want about TITANIC, but the man knows how to research source material down to the letter, and reinvision it. And we've seen in the Terminator movies, he's got the chops for cyberpunk action, and how to keep his audience in mind.

I like this move, because as enthusiastic as I was about the film, it was a headache to show up here and see nothing but venom about it. Don't worry, though. This just means the information curve will be a lot steeper than it was with TF1. When advertising, trailers and merch hits, we'll all have plenty to discuss.

This actually works well for us. The treatment that's circulating, to my understanding, wasn't simply "fake;" it was considered and rejected. Having all those fakes out there will stop our bothering with spoilers or pointless fan-bickering over what's actually in the movie, but it'll let us in on the creative process of the writers. Don't like the movie we actually get? Just take a fake as the real thing if you like it better.

They're not wasting resources making the fakes. Writers come up with and throw out plenty of ideas, so we're getting to see that instead of having it all in the dustbin.

The only thing that would bug me? If one of the 'fake' scripts turns out to be a better film than the actual film...

But otherwise, I think it's a neat idea on Bay's side of things... If the fans react really positively to something in one of the 'leaked' scripts, I could see them using that idea in the finished product... Think of it as 'test screening'?

And so the mis-information campaign BEGINS!!!

HAHAHAHA! He is NEVER, never, ever, ever gonna live this one down. Brash, stupid, artless hack.

Soon he'll try to convince everyone he's making a "movie" and not another two hour long commercial for the army, ebay and oh, yeah, something called "Transformers."

But maybe that’s where the mis-information begins? Maybe there is no TINO 2. We can only hope…

If i were Michael Bay I would leak scripts then I would observe how fans reach to each one and then you have ffedback on what ideas that will please fans and ideas that would piss them off then take everything that pleases everyone and make a script on that. I will say the fake script leaked recently seemed a hell of a lot better than the first movie.

That's actually a pretty interesting suggestion. After all, James Cameron managed to take the established universe of Alien, a hugely succesful movie in it's on right, and made it even better with Aliens. Being a fan of the original movie directed by Ridley Scott, he set out to make a sequel and wrote the basic premise of what would become the story for the sequel. I think he remained very faithful to the source material while giving his vision a life of it's own. Many people would argue that Aliens is much better than Alien.

This is actually a good idea. People that want to read the script before they see the movie are losers. It spoils all the fun and chances are, they were going to rag on the movie, good script or not. This isn't G1 anymore. I grew up watching Transformers, and while some of the products in recent years haven't been as great, the movie was definitely a 10 out of 10. The only thing that would've made it better was Frank Welker as Megatron. That being said, things change and you have to know how to move on or you'll be stuck rewatching G1 episodes ALL THE TIME!!!!

Overall, reading a report like this from Michael Bay turns me off from the movie even more. The first movie had me partially interested because of the tidbits I heard before the movie. But seeing the first movie turned me off.

So, knowing that Bay is back at the helm for the second movie and now hearing that he is purposely throwing us false information- gives me less desire to pay attention to him or to watch the movie.

And Optimus actually owned those flames. He made it work and that was in large part due to Peter Cullen's great voice acting. Starscream was pretty gorilla-like, but the only real complaint I have about him was his head. It's ugly. What Michael Bay is doing is making the Transformers proportionate to what they would be in reality. It's a realistic approach to the Transformers mytho and it's great. How else would you want him to make the movie? Blocky with three step transformations? Bay's take on Transformers was refreshing and exciting.

Well, I actually don't care about the flames. I just wanted the alliteration. Star Scream and faceplateless Prime just bugged me tho and to some extent still do. Megatron too, since I'm seeing the toy more lately than the CG when I think of him.

"proportionate to what they would be in reality" is really in the eye of the beholder ... but the point is the plot is largely moot. It's not very hard to make this kind of movie writing-wise.

I think Starscream is the only one that still bothers me a little bit. I get the whole "alien look" approach, but he appeared more to me like a mutant moth, down to even the brown color, than an alien robot that can transform into an F-22.

Maybe at the end of the movie, Starscream wasn't escaping Earth but rather trying to fly to the sun, you know, like a moth attracted to a bright light.

Just when I thought this guy couldn't be a bigger douchebag...
Many directors and production companies use misinformation, most directors don't actually TALK about it in an almost spiteful way to the fans. It's a bit of an "F you" to the zealous fanbase.
Problem is, I disagree with the "won over most audiences" line. Bay needs to pull his head out of his butt and realize that one marginally good movie doesn't make up for the turd that was Pearl Harbor, and that he needs to step off of his high horse. I get the feeling he thinks that he is THE "Transformers" guy in hollywood now, which makes me want to throw up in my mouth a little. These movies should've been Brian Singer's... Bay will only further ruin the TF's as we know them.

You know, that makes me think, considering the frequency of Hasbro's prototype leaks, that in itself is going to throw a lot of the "fake" stuff out the window at least in the design catagory.

But this whole thing reeks of, "Even though the fans were right on a lot of points on the first movie & the changes made it even better, I'm just going to completely ignore any input they might have & do my own thing, & when fans cry out about something I do that they don't like, it'll be too late, because they'll be spending too much time arguing about wether it's actually legit or not."

This way he can release anything he feels like and you will all be none the wiser.

If he really wanted to release all that cloak and dagger shit, he'd have to pay someone to create it all and thats a waste of budget.
