In-Hand Images: Transformers Prime Dark Energon Voyagers Optimus Prime and Megatron

Man, that Megatron is so PINK! Initial pics made it look like black would be his primary color, no way, man, this Megatron is really really PINK!

Well I had already bought AM Darkness Megatron and I wanted to have this in hand to make a final choice on who would be my Prime/AM Megs. Now I'm feeling some regret on getting this Megatron but when I finally get it I will know for sure.

Both look nice, but Megatron is strangely plain looking to me. I personally dig Prime's new head.

Holy mother of new head sculpts, that thing looks AMAZING.

But Galvatron
I don't care if he's still marketed under the name of Megatron, he's Galvatron to me.

I love the lined texture that Megatron has, why didnt they give that to all the figures?

Why didnt they get rid of the stupid clear arms? They serve no purpose other than to cheapen the figure.

Megatron's light piping makes the head look so unbelievably bad ass.

Unfortunately, I can't see past his very bright pink crotch. Tis a shame.

I never thought it'd happen but I'm actually considering buying Optimus. I love that new head sculpt, and the PRID mold has never looked better.

So, Optimus gets a new head sculpt, yet the Orion Pax figure is a repaint? Interesting choice, considering all the planning would have been done months in advance.

Anyone else getting an RiD Megatron vibe from that Megatron, or is that just me?

I dig them both. Just checked UPS and they will be here Monday. I guess I can look forward to a Monday now.

Imagine instead of Megatron's cannon you get a dark purple ring-pop that mounts on his arm. Of course the trick is not to eat it or else there goes his weapon.

I was thinking more of a cannon that shoots little grape-flavored gummy bears or jelly beans.

They should REALLY call these figures Nemesis Prime and Galvatron respectively, IMHO!!

I really want to like this megatron, I just can't get past his head. His face is too dark, perhaps if his eyes were painted purple instead of the light piping(i don't have back lighting in my display cases). On the other hand though I am liking the new prime colours.

But seriously. That guy is some kinda pink and lavender. I'd have preferred a nice Galvatron purple paint scheme.

For one, these are supposed to represent the characters being powered by Dark Energon (think how characters in the Energon cartoon were Primus-empowered during the fight between Optimus Supreme and Unicron).

Secondly, Nemesis Prime is the MECH-controlled doppelgänger, so calling this Nemesis Prime wouldn't make sense. Plus, Nemesis is traditionally black and teal, whereas this leans closer to something like RiD Optimus.

While I get keeping with cartoon continuity, I DO really prefer to get new original characters over repaints. I hate how we get a million Bumblebees and Primes (and a few Megatrons)... but miss out on Galvatron and other new-character repaints or retools. Too bad.

On that note, a HUGE bravo to Hasbro for that blue Hot Shot out of Bumblebee. That was a nice retool. Really welcome!
