Did they use Wheeljack's head for Silverbolt?

Crap, Deadend is becoming more neon yellow/green with each release.

And Breakdown is somehow looking more like an off-road Tracks with each release!

As of toy fair, I was mostly interested in these for potential kitbashin' parts...but DAMN, that Shockwave has such a solid-looking alt mode that I may have to get extra to keep one complete!

Seems so, just in grey and with a proper face.

Agreed, I can't find a single appealing thing about these that make me want to throw away money on them.

Though I don't collect them, I'd rather hasbro create more kreo transformers, the ones I do have are pretty sweet.

This leads me further to my assumption that Hasbro will be releasing the Stunticons.

Botcon set
Slowly using Stunticon Names over the years as they require them.
(Menasor, Drag Strip, Breakdown, Wildrider(Takara)/Break-Neck, Dead End, Motor Breath)
BotShot set
All of these and plenty more I don't feel like describing.

Just wait. Make my words, we will see more of these guys soon. Botcon & SDCC will bring fantastic news!

I had started to get used to Dead End being completely different every time he popped up, a bit weird seeing the Prime version of all things getting a second toy of sorts. As he is one of my favorite toys, I hope he gets more homages down the line; a repaint of Legion Wheeljack is a no-brainer, but a Kreon or even a Classics version would also be fun (if perhaps under a different name, I do kinda want to see the original Dead End appear there, too.)

There are better reasons not to get this Shockwave. Like not caring for the overall aesthetic.

But really.. Animated Shockwave had two hands too. did you skip that one because if it? (And if you did, you're missing out.)

Yeah, I don't like the overall aesthetic of this line. They seem a tad disproportionate to me. The Prime homages are always welcomed, though.

You're telling me that this...

They're definitely Bionicles rip-offs. The only difference between the two is that the Constructbots are beefier and have characteristics shared by well-known Transformers characters and vehicles.

And check this out: when the Constructbots are armorless...

...boom, instant Bionicle with a Transformer head. >:oP

Actually they're more in line with LEGO Hero Factory. Similar system. Base skeleton and armor parts are separate.

This is like when I was 12 and kids argued over whether Transformers "ripped off" Go-Bots or vice versa. Aren't we all old enough to understand that products can be similar or based on the same idea without one having to be a "ripoff" of the other?

I don't hear anyone complaining about how Hasbro "ripped off" the Japanese companies that invented transformers in the 70s.

Where's the fun in that? ;)

Seriously though, Construct-Bots is to Bionicle as Kre-O is to Lego. Similar premises, but that's it. While I have to respect Hasbro's guts of such a move, I'd rather wait and see how it all works out.

Kre-O is decent enough, though not enough to knock Lego off the no. 1 spot of the building block market (they're being heavily discounted here, guys!). I'm expecting Construct-Bots to go the same way.

these are horribly misfigured, they remind me of those cheap ass kinex kits. Hasbro why do you do this!? waste time, effort and money on wasteless things when you should be pushing resources to making and improving your Transformers. I believe there are two reasons in the development of these Constructbots:

1) Hasbro's pushing for more creativity in their brands. Ken Robinson in one of his "TED Talks" discusses and stresses the importance of creativity in children.

2) Fans have been asking for customizable Transformers for a pretty long while now. I totally support customizable Transformers... but just not with this approach.

I'll partially agree that the DOTM line was unpleasant. Some of the molds were decent or great, but most - in my opinion - just weren't worth $16.

Or even .50 cents. My DOTM Starscream lasted three months, much longer than expected

As a long time Bionicle collector, the major and original premise was a gear system where moving a gear moved a character's arm or weapon. If we want to get to get technical, it's not a Bionicle ripoff, seeing as Bionicle never originated with the articulated brick balljointed action figure, that could be tracked to MegaBloks or older Lego series like Knights.

Hasbro is trying to cash in on this craze and I feel like they are about a decade late. The recent Lego DC heroes tried to revive the brick balljointed action figure and they gave fans this;

Though I absolutely dislike Legos, they kind of did rip-off Bionicle. Though I don't think there's a patent for that stuff, I can assure its going to be shit, worse than the movie franchise line, which is pure trash.

Well, I wouldn't say the entire trilogy was trash. More like Dark of the Moon. The first movie toys, besides Alternators and related toys, were a good step in making Transformers more realistic. Revenge of the Fallen took a step further and improved on the designs while adding some. Dark of the Moon just kinda cheap-ified the toys for the sake of simplicity.

I want to give it some time (and a second wave) before I pass final judgement. I feel like there's a good deal of real promise here, but we've yet to see how it'll work out.
