Uh Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...

Okay, I probably shouldn't panic, they've put all kinds of 3rd party stuff on clearance before due to delays and price issues, but to put "NEARLY EVERY THIRD PARTY ITEM CURRENTLY IN STOCK" at 25% off on the day after the announcement about that ban on fan art sales at BotCon...well, I smell a crackdown on the wind. I contacted their customer service department about this as soon as I got the email, so in the unlikely event I'm the first to know, I'll be sure to relay it.

Dammit, DammIT, DAMMIT!!! There was so much awesome stuff that I just won't be able to afford for upwards of a year, and BBTS is the best online retailer I've ever dealt with! BotCon was one thing, but messing with online retailers is crossing the line! I pray to Primus that I've jumped to the wrong conclusion about this.

Please tell me BBTS isn't going to stop selling 3rd party stuff :(.

A CLEARANCE SALE would seem to indicate that they are, leading me to believe that Hasbro is putting their foot down with the web stores.

This really really really really sucks. :BANG_HEAD:

Checking their site, it says "Inventory Reduction Sale" on the top banner, but that could just as easily be a cover story.

Ironically, this could cause a brief spike in 3rd party sales and arouse Hasbro's ire if it hasn't already. The reason for inventory overstock is likely high prices forcing many collectors (myself included) to hold off, buying more of Hasbro's stuff in actual stores in the meantime.

Well, if this s#!t goes down, I may finally break down and boycott. If Hasbro says I can't ever have Nightbird, Delicate Warrior, Allicons, and all those upgrade parts, and they're never going to make reasonable facsimiles of the very I.P. they claim they're defending, then Hasbro can't have my money for FOC Bruticus or anything else. They could've just kept 'em out of Botcon and continued to live in uneasy symbiosis, but if they start unleashing the lawyers on everything that looks like a violation of their I.P. if you squint hard enough, then this means war!

I hope this doesn't spell the end for Reprolabels too. :( They are a resource that needs to exist.

Looking at their site, the Reprolabels stuff is on clearance too, so I suspect it does, and they're one of the few 3rd party companies that Hasbro would win in a fight against, at least for most of their products (especially those which are identical to existing stickers and contain faction symbols etc.).

True enough. I just hope those teased Cybertronian Lio Convoy and Big Convoy make it to market before everything 3rd party gets shut down or becomes hard to come by, if such an event does occur (fingers crossed that this doesn't mean anything, and it's just BBTS making some space for new product in their warehouse).

Do you mean BBTS, or the actual Reprolabels site? Because I just went to Reprolabels.com for the first time in a while, and the only change I noticed is that now it's innavigable. I can't get to any actual menu's anymore. Did something else happen with them? An upgrade that's not compatible with all browsers?

And didn't Hasbro try to sue them once and get laughed out of court?

I think you guys are just on edge. Most of the stuff they have on sale has been out for while and they are still adding new pre-orders. They just added iGear Hench and UFO today. They probably just want to clear old inventory and they know third-party is a hot topic in the fandom right now.

I dunno, it would be interesting to hear about that. It's not like Hasbro is going to make replacement labels for old toys.

As for the site, it must be a browser issue, they did upgrade their site recently. It seemed fine to me, no sign of anything wrong on their end.

Even if you had all six for 25% off, that's about $450 + shipping... I saved the hassle by getting my set from yahobby. With the Seibertron discount code, it was $500 with shipping.

And now I live under a bridge :KREMZEEK:

Well I've ordered the Battle Tanker. That's four items from a company I have no prior experience with now. I'm either in for a pleasant surprise or a massive disappointment.

Reports of plastic quality have been so sporadic, a few saying it's low quality and some saying it's "good and solid" which could simply mean that it's just good enough for a 3rd party toy. One person stated it is allot like the plastic Fansproject used prior to the Insecticons, which they think is more sturdy, but honestly I can say that this is not true after my experience with the Bruticus upgrade sets (because I actually transformed it more than once). This plastic feels "hard" but it is also lightweight and quite brittle in places.
