I think we need to make new sig guidelines that cover this sort of thing.

I was just about to post this because I sent himia signature warning. He replied asking me how was it different than Spoons and posted a pic of his next sig (anther girl have naked), and while I will reply that Spoon had cartoon picture in his thread, I know he will counter back with the "Before Carly" pictures. So I guess I'll just say that "Before arly" is a choic click where his sig is not and if you are at work, you can get in trouble.

Yes, that is innapropriate too. And Spoons were of animated pictures, but he was still warned as well. The reason you can't have this (or any provocative bikini clad woman) is that members may view this from work or in front of their kids and do not want semi naked woman popping up without warning.

Yeah, I like that reasoning. You can control Before Carly because you know it's a NSFW section of the site. However, if you post on the board and that pops up in a thread, it can land you in big trouble.

I like that picture too ... I mean I like that argument as well!

Do we really want to police the signatures that closely? I really don't want the staff getting Godwinned on a daily basis.

How about these for sig guidelines:

No genitals or nipples, male, female or animated.
No use of words restricted on the forum.

We don't want to give forum members any more reason to switch to another board. If people are browsing the forums at work or around their families, then so be it. We're not the morality police. Seibertron.com is not approved for all audiences. You guys have enough of a headache dealing with the problem posters. It would be unfair to expect you to try to deal with signatures that, let's face it, most of you have no problem with in the first place.

We've only had like 5 signatures in the last year that were in poor taste, so it's not that much effort. And I think CB makes a good point that if you are reading a website and scrolling through and post after post you see a girl half naked repeatedly, it looks like your surfing porn. And while I have no problem, this is still a TF site, I know you have to be 16 or so to join, but still we know we have younger members and have to deal with that.

Pleast don't tell me there's a law against allowing people to have pictures of scantily clad people on message boards. I have enough reasons to insult America's legal systems, what with the wire tappings, Gitmo, and the response to Hurricane Katrina.

Websites that are collecting information from children under the age of thirteen are required to comply with Federal Trade Commission ( FTC ) Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

It is mostly about collecting info of children 13 and younger.

Now just knowing that there is children 13 years and younger browsing the site makes those kind of images kind of taboo.
I don't mind looking at a beautiful woman but since we comply to the coppa, all we need is a parent to complain that their child is exposed to images like that on a site that is supposed to be about children's toys.
