Uh-oh. Looks like some Pretenders are on the loose, and we're not talking about Alice and her tongue. The manufacturers of knock-off figures have decided to try their best at
EZ Devastator, and it really isn't off from the original. A kind member over at
ACToys has uploaded some images of the set.
Knock offs of recent Transformers can easily be determined by their packaging, like what you can see above. However, if you tend to buy loose figures off of Ebay or an online auction site, then you should watch out for knock offs of EZ Devastator - especially since it's an expensive figure. If you're unsure of what you're getting is the real deal, then the
toy galleries of Seibertron.com will lead you in the right direction...

Cool. Just give it more time and the bootleggers will re-size these molds into voyager size and it will be sold at Big Lots. All those who complained about not getting a completely transformable movie Devastator (that isn't a legends class figure) will finally get their wish, albeit in knockoff form.

I'd be a lot more damning of this if Takara wasn't shortpacking four of the seven Constucticons to a ridiculous degree.

Most obvious difference is no white stripes on knock-off Scavenger.

The KO plastic looks brighter, could be the lighting, or it could be thinner plastic, making it ever so slightly translucent.

I'll wait for the oversized versions.

It might just be my eyes (or the dodgy photos) but scavenger looks like he's lost the joint at his armpits to me. Is that kind of thing common witk KOs? The Devastator face looks less detailed too, kinda 'soft'. I'm waiting patiently for the Hasbro version to hit the UK.

I've seen a lot of other knock-offs like these and the plastic used always looks cheaper, especially the smaller figures, but good copies at that.

The paint apps on Dev's face kind of give it away too. I realize that this varies from case to case, but the Takara version seems to be more vibrant.
