Actually that's exactly what I was going for when I snapped the picture! He did get his fingers chopped off after all.

Mine were clearly chopped off.

Damn, not even a remold. Just lopped them phalanges right off (and not evenly either). Guess that's what happens when you're a robo-Predator knock-off via Michael Bay.

I would have been blissfully ignorant of this had I not seen the stock image more clearly. I didn't even pay attention to it until this thread.

Looked at my Crankcase and it seems like the fingers got lobbed off ad the 3rd knuckle.

Anyways, they may have done it since it's the middle finger. They don't want kids making this guy give Autobots the bird in the middle of battle.

This may be the one time I buy the Takara version if the fingers aren't lobbed off.

If they chopped of DOTM crankcase middle fnger for saftey reasons, Then why they didnt do it to ROTF leader Megatron because he too has a big middle finger. Well, I am suprised. Who told hasbro to do this?

That's ridiculous. I can't believe they'd just sloppily chop them off like that. One more reason not to buy that figure.

You beat me to it! The fingers look to be soft bendy plastic, which probably won't be a saftey concern. I'm pretty sure it's a decency issue.

Mine are at least clipped to the same length. I didn't notice at first, then it bugged me. To think, I almost posted a thread last week asking if anyone else's Crankcase had broken fingers like mine.

I don't see how it could be a safety issue, because the hands are made of that soft rubbery plastic. I think it's just because it's the middle finger.

I agree, I bet it's a middle finger issue. Some lady in Michigan probably complained so Hasbro did something about it.

And a few of the Ultra class Beast Wars figures and MP Primes. I think I have pics. of at least 4 of my figures "taunting" opposing armies with a single fingered salute.

Oh well, so much for my photo of Crankcase with the "I'm #1" caption under it.
Does anyone have any clue at what stage they decided to make this very hasty and sloppy modification? I'm curious to see how many cases of these made it out to mass market and just how much the un-modified ones will be going for on e-bay.

From another standpoint, this could also be a quality control issue. Maybe the press operator/s thought the extra long finger was excess flash, and trimmed it off.

This may be caught or may have already been caught and corrected. So it's possible that they will start popping up with the fingers properly done.

Then you think about rarity of a short run of "mistakes" and how they can demand big money on the aftermarket but if the cut off fingers have been corrected then anyone who doesn't have one MIP will be stuck with a worthless broken figure because unless it's MIP it's to easy to cut off the fingers and claim it to be one of the short run.

Lame. Total deal-breaker for me. I've canceled my pre-order for this guy.

Hey, I just opened my crankcase, I bought in Sydney, australia, and mine appears to be complete and has all his fingers at the correct lengths.

Bought mine at Walmart last night, long fingers.

Brought 2 from Target, both have the fingers chopped

Bought one from Sainsburys in UK, he has long luxurious fingers... Almost poked my eyes out on the damn things...

Well, here we go...the first DOTM variant!

I'll probably have to pay double on Ebay to get one with the long fingers!

I wonder if you can infer anything from the code stamped into the back of the card. My code was 10601.

I remember when the G.I.Joe HISS tank came out, you could tell whether it was brown or black by the code stamped into the box. I don't know if that was 100% accurate though.

Crap, that was going to be one of the first ones I got. Now I'm going to wait and see how this plays out.

Hey, sentinel. Can you tell me what the five-digit number was stamped into the cardback? It's on the back of the card, at the very bottom, near the middle. I'm hoping that a certain "lot number" will correspond to unclipped fingers.

I just got one from TRU and both fingers were chopped. I already returned it as defective 20 mins later.

Hey all, thought i'd add to the feedback here, got cranky from the Entertainer toy store here in UK and no manicure here figure has full fingers.

To be honest guys, i think the finger is the least of the issues, hasbro has cut the corners on cost and the scale of these things in alt mode is alarming, crankcase may have been better as a voyager

If you guys can get a confirmed pattern for clipped/unclipped, I'll front page it.

I'll check mine tonight and let you know.

Kids could probably put that in the position where Crankcase is giving people the finger. Either that or for safety reasons.

I bit the bullet and bought one today at TRU. Sure enough he's been manicured. I'm not too worried about it, I'll just find something to glue in it's place.

A piece of advice: when telling whether yours is clipped or unclipped, specify where you live, or where you got the toy, or better yet: whether it's an American or European card. I have a feeling this is region-based, or maybe even limited to the initial batch, which Europe hardly ever gets.
