| Re: Decepticon 'Motormaster' shows up at Tennessee Car Show (1004586) Posted by MotormasterK100 on September 29th, 2009 @ 12:40am CDT Hi everyone! I wanted to say thank you for your kind comments and appreciation for Motormaster. I believe that we achieved our goal of making an awesome truck from a salvage piece headed to the crusher. I just wanted to pop in and welcome you all to visit Decepticon Motormaster's website at http://www.decepticonmotormaster.com. There, you will find complete restoration photos starting at the junkyard, up to our latest events. Feel free to ask any questions you may have about the restoration or about events we will be attending. I will just mention some of the neat parallels that this project has created... first, although the truck is a model year 87, it was produced at the Chillicothe, OH Kenworth plant on October 17th, 1986... 1986 as in the year that Motormaster's toy debuted... To honor this, and to give a little heritage lesson to anyone that sees the truck, mounted on the dash is the 1986 Motormaster toy. Another really cool thing about the project is that the K100 aerodyne that would later be transformed into "Motormaster" was originally purchased in 1986 at the same dealership that performed the restoration... cool huh? 22 years later, and over a million miles later, the same guy that stripped the factory paint job off the brand new truck in favor of the required United Van Lines orange and white stripes, would be the same guy stripping that paint job back off to prep the cab for Motormaster's colors. Thanks again for the comments, and hope to see you at the next event! | |
| Re: Decepticon 'Motormaster' shows up at Tennessee Car Show (1004684) Posted by Convotron on September 29th, 2009 @ 9:16am CDT Thank you so much for paying us a visit, MotormasterK100! The work is wonderful and the fact that the same person who stripped the paint over 20 years ago is the same person who repeated the process for preparing the truck for the custom work is very interesting indeed. One could say it was almost fated to happen. The website is great and I'm enjoying reading through the project history. | |
