I wouldn't rush to judgment on the Jetfire and Jetstorm figures yet. Those are some pretty terrible pictures that are out there right now. The pictures I saw way back of the grey prototypes looked really good. And yes, of course they have hands! In both robot modes! The promo pics are just mistransformed. Once they are properly transformed and posed out, they should look pretty cool.
| Re: Derrick Wyatt Talks About TFA Jetfire And Jetstorm Toys (802127) Posted by Flashwave on October 3rd, 2008 @ 4:07pm CDT I'm not surprised they are misformed. But there isn't a lot of meat on the arms to wor with judging by ALL the pictures. Did we have these debates when the wingless G2 Starscream was put out? | |
| Re: Derrick Wyatt Talks About TFA Jetfire And Jetstorm Toys (802130) Posted by Tekka on October 3rd, 2008 @ 4:09pm CDT We shall see, though I don't know how mis-transformed they could have been. | |
| Re: Derrick Wyatt Talks About TFA Jetfire And Jetstorm Toys (802131) Posted by ayenlou on October 3rd, 2008 @ 4:10pm CDT I asked Derrick J. Wyatt that question... How come I don't get credit for asking him that question? O_O | |
| Re: Derrick Wyatt Talks About TFA Jetfire And Jetstorm Toys (802137) Posted by robofreak on October 3rd, 2008 @ 4:14pm CDT This is why I was defending these molds. I'm going to buy them and if I end up liking them more then I'll get another set for customizing. | |
| Re: Derrick Wyatt Talks About TFA Jetfire And Jetstorm Toys (802139) Posted by Nightwalker on October 3rd, 2008 @ 4:15pm CDT So why don't show the better pictures?? It's just an idea.... | |
| Re: Derrick Wyatt Talks About TFA Jetfire And Jetstorm Toys (802143) Posted by Agent 007 on October 3rd, 2008 @ 4:18pm CDT it's gonna take a lot of changes to change how I feel about them. | |
| Re: Derrick Wyatt Talks About TFA Jetfire And Jetstorm Toys (802153) Posted by dragons on October 3rd, 2008 @ 4:29pm CDT show us more pictures pictures of the back package and ill pass my judgement then. but for right now 1 out of 10 1 its in the buying stage form me unitl i see more pictures & pictures of the back package to be sure yeah they look werrid but like how they look if the hands thing is true after. look at ben stillers character in mystery men hes a hotheaded jerk, strait forward answers alot of times heh reminds me of myself but he has freinds in the movie/teammates that respect appreciate him no matter how he is kinda like these guys here i suppose. | |
| Re: Derrick Wyatt Talks About TFA Jetfire And Jetstorm Toys (802155) Posted by Down_Shift on October 3rd, 2008 @ 4:31pm CDT It's a sigh of relief for sure, but I'm still not thrilled about them. | |
| Re: Derrick Wyatt Talks About TFA Jetfire And Jetstorm Toys (802168) Posted by Overcracker on October 3rd, 2008 @ 4:49pm CDT O.K. I can maybe buy that there may be hands inside the nose cone pieces for the individual robots. But there's no way those leg/arms are going to improve just by having a fist or fingers pop out at the ankle. They'll still look over-sized, and I can't really see anything there that would fold up back or out of the way to make them look less like legs. Not to mention the other defects they have, that won;t actually be removed by correctly transforming them. *cough*-combined jet mode-*cough* | |
| Re: Derrick Wyatt Talks About TFA Jetfire And Jetstorm Toys (802172) Posted by Powersa on October 3rd, 2008 @ 4:54pm CDT Actual toys will look better than the stock photos? Well that's news to me. | |

Yes, That is wierd | |
| Re: Derrick Wyatt Talks About TFA Jetfire And Jetstorm Toys (802220) Posted by omega666 on October 3rd, 2008 @ 6:03pm CDT Mistransformed? I don't think there is a way to transform that into something cool. | |
| Re: Derrick Wyatt Talks About TFA Jetfire And Jetstorm Toys (802221) Posted by shortround on October 3rd, 2008 @ 6:04pm CDT I think both to encourage us as transformers buyers and to support the guys who write his paycheck, because this guy might have a stake in weather these figures are hit or miss and hasbro has been taking alot of hits in the quality control department as well as some of there odd design idea as of late. | |
| Re: Derrick Wyatt Talks About TFA Jetfire And Jetstorm Toys (802225) Posted by Sledge on October 3rd, 2008 @ 6:10pm CDT I, in turn, wouldn't put too much faith in early prototypes. The early prototypes for Masterpiece Starscream were friggin' awesome. Then some prat decided to screw the whole thing up. | |
| Re: Derrick Wyatt Talks About TFA Jetfire And Jetstorm Toys (802228) Posted by GuyIncognito on October 3rd, 2008 @ 6:14pm CDT What's wrong with those figures goes way beyond them not having hands. They're just bad designs. I can't imagine ANY way they could be transformed differently that would make them more appealing. | |
| Re: Derrick Wyatt Talks About TFA Jetfire And Jetstorm Toys (802261) Posted by Chaoslock on October 3rd, 2008 @ 7:02pm CDT I kinda like these, they are like the pretender inner robots or the autobot clones back in the 80s... | |

| Re: Derrick Wyatt Talks About TFA Jetfire And Jetstorm Toys (802318) Posted by Senor Hugo on October 3rd, 2008 @ 8:00pm CDT Just how mistranformed can they be? They may have hands, but adding in hands doesn't turn a pile of crap into a Mona Lisa of plastic. If they guy did design them, and he's trying to save his job by saying "hey they're mistransformed, please buy them" I should remind everyone about the creator of the Virtual Boy Gunpei Yoko If it's someones job to design something that is pleasing to the eye, something that people will buy. And we get something the exact opposite, should we still buy it just because someone said "oh, it may look like crap there, but if you do this this and this to it, it looks good?" Or should we not buy it and just demand better designs and product from the people we give our money to as consumers? | |
| Re: Derrick Wyatt Talks About TFA Jetfire And Jetstorm Toys (802320) Posted by Zeds on October 3rd, 2008 @ 8:06pm CDT Mistransformed or not if I think of the figures I throw up just a little bit more. The colours leave something to be desired as well. | |
| Re: Derrick Wyatt Talks About TFA Jetfire And Jetstorm Toys (802336) Posted by gantzrunner on October 3rd, 2008 @ 8:21pm CDT Sadly, I originally got into the animated series because of the attention it gave to gen 1 detail. Jetfire is one of my favorites, so seeing this energon-ish version that throws everything familiar about the character away is frustrating, especially compared to figures like jazz. Prowl was a radical change, but at least he looked okay. | |
| Re: Derrick Wyatt Talks About TFA Jetfire And Jetstorm Toys (802352) Posted by TCJJ on October 3rd, 2008 @ 8:40pm CDT I can actually think of a few ways that those could be transformed properly to create a much more pleasing duo. Personally, I think they should change the names because Jetfire is worthy of something better but apart from that, I do like the idea. I think the combiner modes are currently as buggered as can be - that is, I think they are extremely mis-transformed. I like the idea of the two-sided head and how it is actually different to their standard robot mode heads. The colours aren't the greatest but I guess I could get used to it. I will be buying it though. Another thing I wanted to mention is that if anyone is thinking about boycotting these so that we get much nicer new molds instead, forget it. Do you know why? Stupid, little kids. Their parents nilly-willy buy them any random stuff and they usually treat it as "another toy", meaning not very well. Some treat them good, some don't. But then these kids and dorky parents wouldn't know any better and suddenly, these idiots are fueling these figures that we're all trying so hard to boycott! I say give these guys a chance and wait until we see photos of the actual figures (and not those stock photos that I want to kill Hasbro over - it's time they uninstalled Photoshop). I am reserving my judgement. They look half decent. Hopefully my mind will be changed. | |

I 2nd that.....If they add sum wings.... change their alt modes so they wont look like flying colorful easter bricks, then yea they might be a sure win......
| Re: Derrick Wyatt Talks About TFA Jetfire And Jetstorm Toys (802413) Posted by shortround on October 3rd, 2008 @ 9:55pm CDT In all honest you can paint a turd gold but doesn't make it any less smelly and these figures stink to high heaven. I sure there are people out there who are like oh boy these so cool they remind me of humanoid version of voltron and can't wait to get them but I have a feeling we will end up with fifty topics devoted to what is wrong with these figures. Nothing this guy can say will change this. | |
| Re: Derrick Wyatt Talks About TFA Jetfire And Jetstorm Toys (802433) Posted by Ronny the Mighty on October 3rd, 2008 @ 10:30pm CDT I trust Wyatt. When was the last time he lied to us just to make a buck? | |
| Re: Derrick Wyatt Talks About TFA Jetfire And Jetstorm Toys (802462) Posted by Nemesis Primal on October 3rd, 2008 @ 10:59pm CDT
I thought we all agreed to pretend that didn't exist? The lack of hands was the biggest problem for me... Looks like I might be interested in them again. And quite honestly, the "cool" thing is a matter of opinion, but there's no way in hell he'd lie about the hands. We'd find out he was lying when the toys were released, and I don't think this is the kind of thing that someone who's had the kind of career Wyat's had would want to get caught in a lie over something so trivial.
| Re: Derrick Wyatt Talks About TFA Jetfire And Jetstorm Toys (802507) Posted by Megatron Wolf on October 4th, 2008 @ 12:07am CDT I doubt that itll look better when its transformed right. This is whats called a "gimmick" figure for the kiddies. | |
| Re: Derrick Wyatt Talks About TFA Jetfire And Jetstorm Toys (802539) Posted by Oilspill on October 4th, 2008 @ 1:23am CDT Well that's some good news at least. It was the lack of hands in all 3 bot modes that was killing it for me. If the proportions on the arms in combined mode are alright, and the jet modes look a little better when transformed correctly I'll probably get it, as I really like the concept of that split-down-the-middle combined bot mode. We shall see when we get some proper pics. | |
| Re: Derrick Wyatt Talks About TFA Jetfire And Jetstorm Toys (802579) Posted by tigertracks 24 on October 4th, 2008 @ 4:10am CDT I was nver calling him a liar. I personally agree that you need to let others get a hold of them before you jump to conclusions. I do believe he does think they are better than the pictures, how much better? Not sure? | |

sarcasm is lost on some... on topic: These stand about the same chances of me picking them up as any other animated figure. If they are indeed horribly mistransformed, i may consider them.
| Re: Derrick Wyatt Talks About TFA Jetfire And Jetstorm Toys (802682) Posted by Ronny the Mighty on October 4th, 2008 @ 9:01am CDT

| Re: Derrick Wyatt Talks About TFA Jetfire And Jetstorm Toys (802868) Posted by Sledge on October 4th, 2008 @ 12:38pm CDT Apparently, the combined form is mistransformed as well. Again, I hope that's true, but Derrick is basing his statements on prototypes he saw "way back." Things change, and not always for the better. | |
| Re: Derrick Wyatt Talks About TFA Jetfire And Jetstorm Toys (803303) Posted by Kique on October 4th, 2008 @ 9:49pm CDT I wont cancel my preoder just yet ... I hope the final toy is better then the one shown in the pics. The combined robot mode needs a lot of work though and the combined plane mode needs a complete makeover ,because right now it looks like ... hey can anyone tell me what exactly the combined plane mode is supposed to be????. | |
| Re: Derrick Wyatt Talks About TFA Jetfire And Jetstorm Toys (803462) Posted by tigertracks 24 on October 5th, 2008 @ 6:12am CDT
As it is mistransformed none of us know for sure. He mentions something about an x-shape in the plane, so I assume the legs are supposed to do something different.
| Re: Derrick Wyatt Talks About TFA Jetfire And Jetstorm Toys (803466) Posted by Sledge on October 5th, 2008 @ 6:27am CDT I really wouldn't bet the farm on them being mistransformed. Derrick's talking about early prototype images he saw. Things change: ![]() Remember? | |

Stupid fu**ing bloody Japanese guy, "It's not realistic enough in Jet mode, it looks too much like the original toy!" wee we we. Cos you know, that's what we want, a G1 Starscream that doesn't look like G1 Starscream. Man I wish some day they will release that piece of awesomeness.
