My only gripe (besides him not having a proper, separate, Lynx-mode) is that Hasbro had to stubbornly cheapen the thing by hollowing-out the underside of the wings. Why??? I'm tired of my Transformers looking like Mexican paper lace. (I understand the economics behind it, but sheesh, every Combiner Wars figure is visually & structurally compromised by having cheese-grater slots all over like HotSpot & Ultra Magnus' back-sides.)
Anyway, being an 80's kid, I love all things Space Shuttle (how I miss the glory days of regular launches and US space-supremacy), so "Mr. High & Mighty" space-bird-cat is a must buy. But I wonder, what will Takara do with this mold?

I do hope you have Super Gobots Spay-C in your collection. He's an amazing guy with a very advanced design for it's time.
If you don't have it, he's very cheap and easy to find. Don't miss out!
Oh yeah, you also have that tiny Gobot. I don't have it so I can't tell how good it is. I'll stumble on it one day.

It's a cool figure but yeah the hollowness and the combining gimmick likely being reason for no seperate Lynx mode kinda ruins it though the fan-mode Lynx ain't so bad. If I see him in Cambridge Toys R Us here in the UK I may purchase him.

This is also begging for a 3rd party company to make it do just that.

SHE is an amazing figure!!!

The overall does look cool and that's coming from a fan who doesn't care for any Beast TFs. It doesn't bother me that this does not separate provided it does. I never did like the goofy looking feet on the shuttle piece alone.
I really dug the overall alt-mode as a griffon type creature.
I can't wait to see what Takara has in store for us!

Might just have to pick up Sky Lynx after all. Wasn't all that interested in him as a combiner, but I actually have a need for those weapons for a custom project.

SkyLynx could be a snobbish, obnoxious, know-it-all, but pitting him against stupid, brutish, Decepticon dullards was brilliant! Making him the larger, smarter suedo-triple-changing-Dinobot was unexpectedly entertaining as well.
My brother owns the G1 toy, and I kind of wanted one back then, but I was contented with my Omega Supreme. This new Combiner Wars version has hit a nostalgia-nerve and piqued my interest. Is he as large as I'd like? No. Do I wish he had a proper separate Lynx-mode? Yes. But that doesn't stop me from liking and wanting this new version either.
Before I even knew about Transformers, I was in love with the Space Shuttle. Back then, every test launch and landing made "Special Report" News on TV. Gobots Spay-C was a first and favorite shuttle-bot of mine until Astrotrain came along one Birthday, and blew my mind. G1 SkyLynx is the best, most accurate transforming Space Shuttle to date, rivaled only slightly by Galaxy Shuttle and Super-Spay-C. Armada Jetfire makes for a nice, but chubby modern take on the design, as does CHUG Astrotrain, but none come as close to the real thing.
This is a modern version of the iconic Space Shuttle made doubly cool by the mere fact it emulates an equally iconic G1 character & toy, and I'll happily welcome him to my collection. I only wonder what enhancements Takara will add to theirs, possibly a brighter white, or (less likely) a separate Lynx mode? Either way, I can't wait. (And doesn't his Sky Reign Lynx head give him a certain Egyptian quality, as if he were an homage to their god Maahes or goddess Mysis?)

Yeah, I noticed straight away, while unintentional (they said at botcon, that it was to homage the lynx mode - but I like to think the lynx mode got a buff new form ) it does remind me greatly of the Egyptian gods, or of Liokaiser

So far, I preffer the G1 toy simply because I find the dual animal gimmick more fun than the combiner gimick, though that doesnt stop anyone from owning both I really like the nice lean Lynxe mode of G1. (yes, I know I forgot to unfold the wings, the spaceshuttle wings are so nice that I totally forgot in that moment that there was even more to it)

And yeah, that G1 skylynx has the best space shuttle mode of all time. It can easily be played with simply as a non transforming space shuttle (and even has some panels you can lift to see some inner shuttle detail).

I think he will be one of those torso's where - without nostalgia/context to be biased of - he will look amazing with any limb configuration

Especially since the kneepads aren't necessary to hide some sort of robot mode feet that look just ugly. Sky Reign will be really awesome, and very fit and shaped!

I was hoping that a screw was holding the parts together, pins are much more difficult to remove carefully.

It wouldn't matter if you did, the lynx head is stored in the shuttle part, you would have to gut the shuttle part as well, and at any rate, the shuttle part doesn't have any legs to stand on...

I agree. Burn has many more pics of Devys "wrecking balls" to share with the class.
