While these are not clear and have a big Robot Kingdom watermark over them, we get a sense of what Takara is trying to accomplish, which is perfect show accuracy. The Sunbow character models are shown below for comparison and you can see that Takara is trying to replicate every part of it, even the colour coded feet. The combiner chest also has the Blastof reference and there are grey/silver combiner mode parts for Onslaught.
Since the aim is for the animation colours, there is a huge difference from the Hasbro version's colours which instead imitate the G1 toy (also shown below for comparison).

Though, those yellow details on his chest appear to be toy-accurate instead.

Yeah and I just realized that Hasbro's brawl had a show accurate colour and not a toy accurate one.

While recent events have put these out of my price range for the foreseeable future, I can still see how pretty they look.
(And I can dream of winning the lotto or euromillions...The rare times I play those)

Blast Off is almost Swindle levels of brown. If anything, he should be a lighter olive green. Maybe it's just the photography, but I'm not caring for ANY of their colors, and the color-matching feet don't look good to me, either. Looks like I'm canceling my pre-order, which sucks, because I REALLY wanted a shuttle-mode Blast Off.

It's an interesting choice for them to cast the hand foot guns in the same plastic as the main bodies for brawl and swindle. I wonder if it'll affect the tolerances at all.
I'm hoping Perfect Effect will do a repainted version of their bruticus set to match the new little feeties.
Edit: Also, doesn't this mark the only time we've had a Bruticus in the show colours EVER?

One thing you can try with BBTS and the like, is add them to your cart (as if you were going to buy them) then adjust the amounts. I think the max you can have of one item with BBTS is 24(?) so punch in a number like 50. It'll auto-adjust, and you'll be able to see that they have at least a certain amount left in stocko.supreme wrote:I've been wanting to get the Unite Warrior sets for some time, but other things (life) keep getting in the way. Anyway... I notice that BBTS seems to be one of the only sites that still have UW 1&2 (Superion & Menasor) still in stock. I was just wondering if they use a low stock indicator? I see they put some items on clearance they may be trying to get rid of, but I would think that with popular items they might have one ala Amazon. I just don't want it to be there today, and then suddenly gone tomorrow...

Not sure about the colour coded feet though. This will definitely be a job for the Perfect Effect feet.
In any case, consider me on board...provided I can clear some space before pre-orders sell out. Oh well, it's a regular release anyway so it should be fairly easy to get on the aftermarket like UW Superion...right?

Damn the Hasbro version sucks. I honestly believe Hasbro picks crappy colors on purpose to continue to justify Takaras existence as the "Premium" deco company.
Hasbro's job is to make the collectors puke...
Takara's job is to come and save the day... (for a price)

I dunno delta, Superion didn't have a unique exclusive mold.
Defensor did, but he was a shared exclusive.
Theres not really an aftermarket precedent for that situation on a full retail release.

The only extra cost is the shipping, they are the same price. He's only USD $88-96 + Shipping. Same price as Hasbro. BBTS is a third party Takara seller, they dont count.

What aftermarket, UW Superion is still available on the primary market and so will Bruticus.
MemphisR56 wrote:Defensor did, but he was a shared exclusive.
Shared with who? He wasnt a shared exclusive. Thee was no other retailer aside from TTMall who sold him at that price.

Yeah. £69 for a whole combiner is a great deal. Now, let's see-
>£33 for shipping to the UK
Ouch, that bites. And then there's customs fees to consider...yikes. Seems regardless of where I buy it from I'm gonna be paying ludicrous amounts.
I wonder if customs includes shipping fees or just the value of the actual item?

Dude, they all come from the same factory in China. Please explain why the best color cant be used to make one gigantic worldwide run? Extra paint apps can always be added to the pallets being shipped to Japan under the "Takara" moniker. Honestly outside of extra paint apps (and occasional exclusive molds) is there really a reason for Takara to exist ? My solution is simple. Do away with the Hasbro colors. Let Takara pick the colors for the world. Then they can add extra paint apps for their "Japanese market". They can also continue to create new molds for when Hasbro is too lazy to do so. If it was up to me, I would get rid of Hasbro altogether and just let Takara run the brand worldwide. But that's just me.

Different companies, different budgets, different demographic, different competition. Plus they also come out at different times so they're not produced in the same run.

Different markets. Takara is largely catering to collectors who take accuracy really seriously. Hasbro is largely catering to kids who just want the toy to look good (case in point, Dragstrip, whose Hasbro deco is a LOT more eye-catching and visually interesting than "Yellowman McCheese" Takara Dragstrip). Also, they're produced at different times- Hasbro initially creates their run of product, which Takara acquires the license to manufacture and modifies to suit their market. They're 2 completely different runs of product.
Extra paint apps can always be added to the pallets being shipped to Japan under the "Takara" moniker.
No, they can't. The differences between the Hasbro and Takara versions are often in base plastic colours. Changing them up with paint would be more expensive than just doing two different runs of product.
Honestly outside of extra paint apps (and occasional exclusive molds) is there really a reason for Takara to exist ?
Yes- so Japan can continue to actually get Transformers figures.
My solution is simple. Do away with the Hasbro colors. Let Takara pick the colors for the world. Then they can add extra paint apps for their "Japanese market". They can also continue to create new molds for when Hasbro is too lazy to do so.
...And then the brand would sink because of the large delays in product actually being finished. Not to mention that a lot of people (myself included) are fine with Hasbro's colour schemes (see: Cheese Golem Drag Strip, Bland Hot Spot, Grubby Grey Streetwise) so they'd be eliminating sales.
If it was up to me, I would get rid of Hasbro altogether and just let Takara run the brand worldwide. But that's just me.
...And then Transformers wouldn't even be released outside of Japan, because Takara has neither the interest nor the resources to manage the brand internationally. But that's alright, I'm sure little Timmy won't mind that he can't buy Transformers anymore because some manchild in Florida wanted to have his toy robots in the colours he wanted.
You know who else gets irrationally angry about old characters having updated colour palettes?

"Boss, I've got a great scoop! I just scored the first color photos of the UW Bruticus! If we put these up on our website, it'll drive a lot of traffic there!"
"Excellent. But first, slap a gigantic watermark on it so no one can really see the image clearly."
"Perfect!"

Its the value of the actual item and if it is below a certain limit, the queen wont impose a tax. Also, you can ship it by boat. Its not like you'd be one f the first to get UW Superion anyway, why not get the cheaper shipping? It's registered too.

My signature says it all.
Anyhow I am not really sure which paint scheme for Bruticus I like better. I like both the Hasbro and Takara. I think the deciding point for me is Blastoff, and I like the Hasbro Blastoff better believe it or not.

Huh. Well, I'll have to look into that.
(Of course seeing as until I've sold off some of my collection I'm forbade from buying anymore the point is moot anyway, but in any case, thanks for the help!)

Currently no-one on Amazon sells the Hasbro Combaticons for a good price. You people don't know how hard it is for me to decide which ones I should get. I am wanting G2 Superion with the PE upgrade kit, I want Computron, I still need Cyclonus and the other deluxe Stunticons for photoshooting the prototype for my custom Menasor torso when I finish that, And on top of that I still have not gotten UW Devastator!!!

No never. Anyone selling for that amount is reselling it and did not get it from Takara proper. The retail price in Japan for first party retailers is usually between 11,000 and 12,000 yen (94-102$ USD), 88$ is special for the preorder.

Thats not a terrible price for devastator is the shipping is free, its about the same as TF Source. But in general, Amazon is not a place for Takara toys, Amazon proper doesnt sell them, only second and third hand buyers.
Your only 2 options are a Japanese based seller where the product is same price as hasbro but you have to pay shipping, or an american hobby seller (like BBTS or TFsource) which charge more but take care of the importing for you.

It's getting real 4chan in here.
@Delta: It's shared between TTmall and asian marlet general release
Also, Delta, you should know better than to feed RX when he's dropping "hasblow" bait. (he basically already admitted he's arguing with you specifically because he has a beef, don't rise to it)
EDIT: Sorry Burn, wasn't meaning to pour any fuel on the fire if that's how this came off. Aleady typing when you stepped in.
@SillySpringer: As you'll probably come to learn, Amazon is goddamned awful for pricing. A lot of aftermarket toys you pick up on ebay for 1.5 - 2 times the retail price can be marked up by about 8 - 10x the retail price.
The good deals you mentioned are usually from specialist retailers who list on amazon when the item is first released, or from amazon themselves listing the hasbro product, again, just after release.
A good guide for an aftermarket TF (in my opinion) is about 10-20% less than an buy-it-now price on ebay (which sellers slightly jack up to entice impatient bidders who think they might not win the auction)

An item share by a general release doesnt sound like the definition of shared exclusive if its general somewhere. Lets not confuse the issue.
The Japan release of Defensor was TTMall exclusive and thats it. Hasbro Asia is a different release anyway and came with different stuff (like the coin). A shared exclusive means 2 companies are listing the exact same item at the same price. Like when both Amazon and BBTS had Platinum Predaking (or something else, but it was definitely in the platinum line).
