We've known of him for quite some time: http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/inhand-images-transformers-generations-combiner-wars-leader-starscream/32867/
You've got to keep your eyes peeled to seibertron :D

Unless you mean official Hasbro listings and images. But if that's the case, then we never got any for both Trypticon or the Blaster and Perceptor set.

I'm here every day. I'm talking official listings.

Something just seems weird here. But I guess I'm just partially jealous that I can't gank free toys off the assembly line and post pictures of them.

I don't know if he "gank" it or not - most likely the stuff he gets are rejects that can't be sold because it doesn't meet standards or there is something wrong with the toy during manufacturing.

I see the guy also got his hands on a yet to be released Marvel Legends Blizzard as well...

Oh, ok. But official listings are a bit wonky. Here's a one up on that Leader Starscream: RID legends toys that were actually found in store while there is still no official listing for them

Also, glad to hear you are here everyday :D

I don't know about that. Usually if something is "defective" or "not to be sold" its destroyed. I work in an industry where that is a rule. First production is never to be sold, it's to be tested, refined, and then destroyed. It's very likely that this guy is just taking them or obtaining them from someone stealing them. It's nothing new. Hell, Peaugh made his start as a reviewer getting stolen animated prototypes. It used to be a very big thing when stolen protos wre getting out past 5 years it has died down but it does seem to be coming back lately.

There's the possibility of that, too. I'm thinking along the line that the guy saved the stuff that was supposed to be destroyed as opposed to just have the toy ended up in some landfill.

I'm sure the materials are recycled. Never want to believe a toy is thrown away.

All that aside I can't wait for this guy. I own Maketoys Green Giant but I am totally getting this. Though I do own 3rd party items I always get official figures and and usually they replace 3rd party stuff, I don't get rid of them, they just go in a shelf FP Menasor is a great figure but i can't stop playing with CW menasor.

Serves to remind me of just how much toy tech has advanced since the 80s. The classics/generations seeker mold totally blows the G1s out of the water....

It would've been nice if they included extra seeker style guns for Dirge and Ramjet in addition to the bombs they were stuck with in robot mode.

Obviously, like every G1 re-issues ever. If there were diecast originally, the diecast will remain. Only changes are the leight of smokestacks and missilles, plus the removing/weakening of firing mechanisms for new standards in security.

You willing to pay for the extra cost? And the default, machine guns/missiles launchers have been neutered.

In the points of articulation an improvement but as "K" previously mentioned, the original Diaclones who would eventually become Transformers, the robots were built around the vehicles in mind. Unlike today hence when you compare the Seeker sizes in robot modes, they stand just about the same but in vehicle mode, the size difference really shows.

Personally, I like the jet mode of the G1 Seekers best over the modern henkei molds.

Not necessarily. There is a version of Predaking that comes without Diecast but the recent rereleases kept the die cast instead.

The original G1 predaking in Japan was all plastic, but their reissue had die cast.

I am already the proud owner of the G1 original release of a Trypticon with working electronics and all his accessories. As much as I want this one because of the gorgeous box art, sadly I'll have to pass. Even the storage is getting full and the wife is beginning to lose her patience. But a Generations Titan Class Trypty to go along with the Titan Class Metroplex would be worth the argument and subsequent week long silent treatment. IJS :BOT:

On the flipside, Encore Bruticus is all plastic, while the originals had variations with die cast.

In Onslaught's case, was the entire silver chest die-cast? Painted or molded silver? 'cause I've seen some Japan vintage boxes of him but already plastic. Those must have sold out in a flash back then.

Yeah, I had most of Bruticus as a kid, and I don't remember any die cast on any of the limbs. (I didn't have Onslaught. :-( )

What's funny is, my World's Smallest Transformer Thrust has landing gears that are attached and able to rotate out of the way for transformation. No need to detach it and store in the cockpit. yet the Transformation and attaching of the hands (which sadly I lost) is much like the G1 Larger counterparts.

Please release the other three seekers as well.

And please release Sixshot as well.

Still, why bother buying that pricey reissue when the vintage original is way cheaper?

I think people prefer re-issues simply due to the fact that it's a good way to get a mint condition figure. Some people probably also don't want to deal with used figures that have been handled by little kids and are missing stickers or whatnot.

Maybe. But when the reissue is nearly 200$ When you can get a PERFECT condition and COMPLETE vintage for less than 100$, the question still stand.

Ehhhhhhh.... you and I may have different definitions of "perfect". To me, there's NO way to recapture the feeling of opening your own brand new TF. Which is why I'm only going to buy vintage G1's when I absolutely have to. Cause even though I bought it, its not mine y'know?

So... You'll only buy an original vintage G1 Transformer only if it's SEALED IN PACKAGE so you can have the pleasure to OPEN it?

Yes actually. Possible not sealed boxes, but y'know how some G1's were sealed on a bubble inside the box? At least that. Expensive and crazy, I'm fully aware.

Mmm... There's just the sneaking suspicion, especially with vintage figures, that they could have been messed with in ways I don't even know. I hate uncertainty, and reissues are an alternative. They're newer off the production line, and will last way longer than vintage figures in most cases. Plus, they're new and shiny. You don't have to like them, but you don't see the appeal in that?

Appart the toy itself, what I'm looking for is for it to be affordable. PRICE is an issue. That why most of my G1 toys ARE reissues. Still, some reissues are baffingly expensive while the original is readily available for less. In that case, I will go vintage. Why spend DOUBLE for a reissue when you can have the real original in perfect condition for half the price? Is that so hard to understand? Still, it's rare. More often, it's the reissue that is affordable and the vintage is just out of reach. Other times, a reissue sealed in box will be the same price as a complete but very used vintage. In that case, I get the reissue.

TlDr, the point is, it's not whennever it's a reissue or a vintage that matter. It's the quality and/or price of the toy that matter the most.

Vintage.....double edge sword. If in good condition fine. But age has this nasty habit of breaking them. Re-issues, like the Encore 20/20A has improvements to the mold (and decals) while Bruticus and Piranacon on the otherhand sucked (the latter especially due to mold degradation). So shop wisely.

Yeah, I think the important thing is to look at feedback and reviews for reissues.

And sometimes the reissue ia WAY superior.

Like the black and white Astrotrain from Commemorative, or Predaking from Platinum with his glorious gold aps instead of plain yellows.

Way back, before I had to curtail my Transformers spending, I bought a lot of reissues and would display them with my vintage. They do look the part, but in terms of quality - I've never had a reissue beat the original when in excellent condition.

That said - getting vintage in that condition is rare and often very expensive, especially boxed. Its a literal minefield of K.Os (sometimes just the guns are knocked off), reissued parts on vintage toys and mismatched production runs (like - that Prime didn't come with those style fists or gun).

Stickers are always my biggest beef with reissues. Always peeling off or (like with Hotrod) being too thick. Tampographs and printed details are the devils work, too.

Reissues take the stress out of most vintage collecting away, but often give new troubles. Early reviews might not pick them up, either - its good to wait for side-by-side vintage and reissue comparisons.

I still buy the odd reissue, if its crazy enough or has new accessories. It doesn't beat the buzz of vintage. I like vintage because it is old and there are small signs of play-wear. It really adds to the experience. I also love seeing a toy I'm not 100% familiar with and having to research it to make sure its not a bootleg or later release stuffed in an old box.

I'm actually really loving the platinum line of reissues, even as a bystander. Its been a good selection of figures, even if I've only wanted Astrotrain and Blitzwing so far - the others are all excellent news for G1 collectors.

Our fellow Seibertron.com user Generator_G1 has sent a sighting for the new Platinum Edition sets, reissuing the Coneheads and Blaster/Perceptor for new and old collectors who did not get their mitts on them way back when! The Toys'R'Us store in over in Manila, and as seen in the photos below, Coneheads are 3.5k Philippine pesos (approx 78 USD) while the Blaster/Perceptor set is 7.5k Php (approx 166 USD).

Check out a video review of the Conehead seekers here, and out first reporting on in-hand images of the Intel Ops box right here - and remember, if you spot these or other figures at retail, make sure to use our Sightings database and forum sections to help out fellow collectors!

Does anyone know if the insecticons have been spotted? They have them in my Toysrus in Canada. Just a tip, if you're not finding large items like that, check the electronics section. Sometimes they put expensive collectables there.

I don't remember where they were spotted first, but it was a while ago in an American Target or a TRU in the Philippines.

If you live in Clemmons, NC, the K-Mart there has like 10 of the Insecticon sets for $79.99 each. No one has even touched them.

Haha, same for the ones in the Toysrus at Laval Canada. But here, they cost 109$ cdn, which is about 10$US more than what Kmart sells them for.

You know what kind of disgusts me, the actual MSRP is 64.99$US. It's right there in black and white, I wonder why it isnt being repsected:

Because Kmart and TRU are run by greedy bastards. But hey, at least you guys found them and maybe have a shot at getting them on sale or clearance some day, the two Kmarts near me stopped carrying Transformers after TF4.

We've seen the Hasbro Platinum Edition Intel Ops set, with Perceptor and Blaster, show up at Philippine retail just recently, and we now have some official stock photography courtesy of Brazilian retailer HobbyBrinquedos. Check them out in package, out of package, with Ramhorn, Eject and Steeljawk - all mirrored below! And perhaps take a stroll down memory lane with our own galleries of the original toys, here and here.

Nice! But that set will be 200$ for sure. I'm not really interested in Perseptor and I always wanted Blaster. Maybe when this set will come out, this will drive the price of the latest reissue and the vintage down a bit.
