The first listing of the Platinum Cyclonus, Scourge and Sweep set is up at Amazon Spain, which will be the exclusive retailer for that region. It is said to come out in two weeks and it is priced at around 100 Euros, which is equivalent to $115 USD. For those wondering who Cyclonus' armada was, this set's title seems to clarify it to simply be the sweeps since it's called Armada of Cyclonus.
You can see a ton of images in this set as part of our 2016 Toy Fair gallery

At this point it's to be expected, but I can't believe that they actually sell enough of these at retail price to be able to keep churning them out.

I dont think it matters. There is 0 r&d cost for these and none have die cast. Also the prices in europe are usually inflatedcso this will be the same price as the junkion rodimus pack in the states.

The first thing I think when I see these come out, I like it, I'll wait for a sale.
Can anybody think of a Platy that sold out at full price?

Yes, in Canada the Platinum Dinobots sold out at full price. I did buy them on sale (of course!) but they still had some in stock after the black firday sale and sold out at full price.
Also, Target does boost the prices of their platinum editions when they go on sale, making the sale useless. That happened last year with one of the set (I forget which one, probably the coneheads).

Yeah, the Coneheads was the set I ws going to bring up. I don't remember them going on clearance...

YotS Omega, at least temporarily. YotH OP, Bruticus/Grimlock FoC set, Platinum Blaster/Perceptor (very temporarily, but it was shown as "Sold Out" through its official distribution channel for a time), I think that's all. This doesn't account for localized/one-off/storewide sales. I could also be wrong about this, but it really isn't important.Cobotron wrote:You know what? I bet that Platinum Unicron will sell quickly, if that rumor is true. The Amazon exclusive one a few years back sure did.

I think all the AOE sets sold out. In my town "Breakout Battle", "Autobots United", and "Dinobots Unleashed" all disappeared fast.william-james88 wrote:Yes, in Canada the Platinum Dinobots sold out at full price. You know, these were online only here in the US, but I think Breakout Battle was the only one that moved at regular price. Autobots United sold out quick, but only after HTS put it on clearance then had a 20% off coupon hit a couple weeks later. Dinobots Unleashed got clearanced hard by BBTS, one of its official channels for distribution.shajaki wrote:In my town "Breakout Battle", "Autobots United", and "Dinobots Unleashed" all disappeared fast.

Ya, I scooped the Dinos Unleashed for 50% off from BBTS around Xmas time last year.ScottyP wrote:You know, these were online only here in the US, but I think Breakout Battle was the only one that moved at regular price. I guess my perspective on the Platinums is skewed because all the set's I've bought have been at a discount.

What I find funny is that the only ones that actually sold well are the ones supposedly hated (generally speaking) by the fandomCobotron wrote:Ya, I scooped the Dinos Unleashed for 50% off from BBTS around Xmas time last year.ScottyP wrote:You know, these were online only here in the US, but I think Breakout Battle was the only one that moved at regular price. But most of these platinums were online only in the states (the target exclusive ones for instance), so you wouldnt see them in stores anyway. If there was a discount, it happened online.

Nightbird (A Hasbro deco of the Takara figure)
Devcon (Titans Return Blurr's head on Titans Return Scourge's Body)
Alligatorcon (Sentinel Prime's Head on TR Skullcruncher's body in Optimus Colors)
That's a Japan-only release, a former Botcon and G1 cartoon character with his first Hasbro figure release, and a G1 cartoon version of Prime that only 3rd parties have done to date. Two out of three have a mad science vibe.
Hrm. You know, instead of Devcon, what would round out the set would be an Autobot Spike with Spike Headmaster. I want that now. Not sure what it would be made from but I want it.

I think it was about 45$ at toysrus. A great deal for some solid decos. Of course you would be stuck with a movie figure, but it was the best figure of that line.

I'll see if I can pick it up. And, for the record, I don't mind the movie figures, so I wouldn't be 'stuck' with it. But anyway, thanks for the tip.

No worries. Oh and if you dont mind loose toys, I am sure you can find a way better price for the set loose.

They were amazing repaints. The AOE Voyager had the actual correct deco of what movie Optimus would have looked like when painted and the Classics one had the perfect G1 deco that only the Cloud Optimus surpasses.
Check these awesome repaints:

Exactly, though even with the toy accuracy angle, the Evolution set took several liberties, including gray upper arms, black shins, and black fists. The Cloud version gets these toy details right, with red upper arms, blue shins, and blue fists, even though it's actual aim is to be screen accurate to the G1 cartoon.

Looks like for Amazon, you get a brand specific brown box with the figures inside versus the actual box packaged inside a generic Amazon box. Seems good from a buying a toy for a kid perspective, bad from a collector perspective.

I'm going think really hard about it. This is probably the only platinum set that has piqued my interest and that seems like a reasonable price, considering how much those platty sets retail for.william-james88 wrote:Good news for all Americans wanting the new Platinum Optimus and Megatron set, titled "Transformers Generations Platinum Edition One Shall Stand, One Shall Fall". It is now available on Amazon.com. It was previously available on Amazon.ca for around $80 USD but this American listing is even cheaper than that, with a price of $74.99 USD. That is the price for the frustrating free packaging, standard packaging will cost $ 94.95 USD. Will any of you be picking it up? let us know!
I like amazon's frustration free packaging on other stuff, but I feel that part of the allure to these special sets is the neat-o burrito packaging. I can only imagine that the brown box will lower any future re-sell amounts/value
To answer what is the dealio with the frustration free packaging, its just a boring box with just more cardboard supporting the figures with the tied down. Think the way CW Devy was packaged, only with out color and graphics on the outside.
As a crazy collector type person, I'm torn.

It's also interesting that the standard packaging option, which is much more expensive, is not sold directly by Amazon. Hopefully Amazon itself gets in some standard packaging units too.

I was looking for Fort Max at Myer again and he wasn't there, spoke to the cashier about him and she said a collector (I think scalper) came in and bought them both for full price. She let me check the computer for availability in other places in Australia, but the most interesting thing wasn't about how much they had in stock at Melbourne. It was what was in the related searches.
TRA GENERATIONS PLATINUM EDITION Liokaiser Combiner
The title probably isn't that accurate from what I saw on the computer. (They get really specific) But still, interesting...

I don't think this is news, we know that it's coming, and as a box set like all the other ones, and as his cross-sell made no mention of being a 'Platinum', I would think that it might be a typo.

Who's saying that? I'm saying it's likely the cw boxset listed incorrectly. If they are releasing the g1 set, we have not heard anything about it. Until then, assume it's a typo in the system.
Posted by Sabrblade on June 3rd, 2016 @ 8:01pm CDT
But let's also remember that the only cross-sell we saw for Liokaiser was on the Platinum Edition Autobot Heroes set. Unless Platinum Edition packaging cross-sells advertise toys of other non-Platinum Edition lines, this coupled with the new computer listing would be good indicators that Liokaiser very well might be a Platinum Edition release instead of a Combiner Wars boxed set.
