First Look at Masterpiece Grimlock and Mickey Mouse Transformer

Hell yes. I want that Grimlock.

Mickey Mousimus can burn though.

Grimlock is just beautiful I think I just had like 10,000 orgasms.

Mickey looks a lot better than I anticipated...

Grimlock is, well, Grimlock. Since I am not a fan of the Dinobots...

Mickey Mouseformer...I have never, in my entire life, witnessed something so chock-full of utter and epic failure. It's just staggering!

Me WANT that Grimlock. When I saw that pic, it was as my dinobots roared on my shelves.

Wow, I actually like that mickey-former, the alt mode is awesome.
*imagines a Transformers level in some future Kingdom Hearts.*

I hope that Grimlock is huge.

The idea of putting Grimlock in with my other Masterpiece figures is cool, but the figure itself does not blow me away yet. I was blown away with the first images of MP Megatron, Prime and Starscream because they clever with their engineering. But we knew that MP Grimlock would look pretty much like this. Nothing surprising.

Grimlock is amazing. Mickey is OK. Can anybody tell what Grimlock is holding in Dinobot mode?

Grimlock looks awesome as I expected. I have to give them credit for Mickey ... this isn't like the Star Wars or Marvel Transformers where it's a vehicle that turns into the characters that we know from those series. It's an Optimus Prime truck that transforms into a Mickey Mouse that is wearing Optimus Prime armor. I loved Optimash Prime ... a Mickey Mouse wearing Optimus Prime armor is right up my alley also. Kudos to whoever came up with this idea.

I kinda get the impression that Mickey Mouse will be a Disneyland/world exclusive and will probably not be the only one.

Optimouse Prime . Actually, that Mickey is dressed up as Optimus doesn't surprise me all that much, since the 'role play' motif is pretty consistent with Disney's previous "crossover" exclusives with Star Wars, which include the Disney characters (with Donald as Maul and Stitch as Yoda, etc.) the Muppets (with Kermit as Luke and Gonzo as Vader, etc.), and Mr. Potato Head (as Han and Fett, etc.). I actually prefer this 'Disney characters as established TFs' thing...probably 'cuz it's easy for me to picture Donald as Megatron and his nephews as the Seekers...

Now we just need Masterpiece Utahraptor and we can do Transformers:Qwantz!

grimlock looks awesome! Wasn't there a rumor a long time ago they we were supposed to get an MP grimlock and a soundwave too? or am i think of revoltech?

also mickey looks kinda cool but i fear he may be rather bulky more like the 1-2-3 transformers, which would probably make me pass on it... i will however buy anything they make with donald duck.

Man, the designers can't win; if Grimlock didn't look identical to G1, there'd be moaning and groaning. Now that he looks exactly like we'd expect (and desire), there's still grumbling. Such a fickly fandom

Although this is only a prototype shot, I think he's frickin' awesome. So far, so good Takara.

I'm not in awe of that MP Grimlock. I mean, as a G1 toy, he was EXTREMELY accurate to his cartoon counterpart. Grimlock's design has been perfect since the 80's, so I'm glad the designers of the MP version didn't mess around with it too much.

However, I just find it hard to justify paying 130 bucks for a figure that's been done a billion times and was done perfectly the first time around. To be quite honest, head non-G1 head sculpts aside, Animated Grimlock is the best Grim there is. This MP version really isn't bringing anything new to the table other than (possibly) sheer size and maybe so electronics.

love the Dinobots. I personally am already impressed with Grimlock. Can't wait to see a colored pic. Gotta have it.

You're correct there. But there's something funny about this being too G1-accurate rendition.

If you observe the picture carefully, you'll that this Grimlock is a tripod. He is essentially sitting on his tail. Look at how small the legs of the dino are. And add to that, the seemingly bended position of the thighs. He won't be able to stand up without using the tail as a kickstand for support.

Well, maybe the final version of the toy will correct this flaw.

Mickey: actually I'm mildly impressed, it's not something I'd buy or recommend but it really doesn't look nearly as bad as I was expecting.

I think "MickeyMouse Prime" is kind of cool! I'm curious to see how big it will be, and what it will look like painted. You may think it's a dumb idea, but I think it's a better design than those crappy Jetfire/Jetstorm Animated atrocities.

Grimlock looks awesome, of course, but that's why it's $150. I'll pass. I'd rather have 15 deluxe figures.

I have to agree with you. I don't understand what the whining is about either. Mp Grimlock is loads more impressive than other MP's IMO. I liked all of the other MP's except the aqua Starscream....personally IMHO this grimlock will be the baddest-assed MP to date.

On the belief that the paintjobs will be cute, my younger daughter's gonna be begging me for Mickey-bot (or a future Tinkerbelle Mini-con ) so she has her own bots to play with her brother...

Masterpiece Grimlock made me wet myself with joy.
Mickeyformer made me soil myself with pure terror.
Now i'm off to kill whoever made that mickey.

Yeah, HasTak seem to be ensuring they get lots of future Transfans with the Playskool, Activators and those simplistic movie toys.

Dinobot's upper torso is practically wasted. The whole upper half is useless in robot mode. All of it becomes kibble.

This version looks even more cartoon-accurate than G1-toy-accurate. With the elongated upper torso of the dino.

Somehow this Grimlock does not excite me. Not sure why, and I can't be bothered working it out until we see finalised images.

Optimouse Prime? Aw hells yes. That looks pretty damn cool. Just a shame it's a Disney crossover. Would have preferred Looney Tunes.

Grimlock looks awesome!!!! MP line so far has been totally faithfull to G1 and I don't expect that to change,so I don't see the problem some people are having with too much cartoon accuracy.Oh well to each his own I guess.I have pre-ordered two.Is it March yet?

Optimouse Prime is a must buy for my 3 year old daughter.She loves Micky Mouse and what better way to introduce her into my favorite toy line.Let's hope for more.These things are awesome for young kids!Brilliant Takara........just brilliant!

Mikey Mouse, it looks exactly like that sketch someone made as we first saw the syulete (How the hell do I spell that?).

I actually think I want that Mikey Mouse now, and I hate Mikey Mouse, I want a Donald Duck TF now.

He's supposed to have colour changing light up eyes (both modes) and some arrangement in his hand to his sword or gun will light up.
If he'd had flame breath and a crown he would have been perfect - but I think he's pretty close.

I agree. I'm not impressed. MP Grimlock simply meets expectations, but does not exceed them.

I'll admit it does represent G1 cartoon Grims well in both modes. Unfortunately, I feel the beast mode represents the goofy, hangin' out with Wheelie Grimlock instead of the badass, fire-breathing, poop your pants in fear Grimlock.

In conclusion... meh

MP Grimlock: looks good, but I have little interest in it for that much money. I simply could not afford something like that. Plus, I feel little need for most of the MP line. It’s quite overrated.

Mickeymus Prime: Very cute, and I was impressed they modeled it after Prime. Makes it feel like an actual crossover. Sadly, I still have zero interest in it, but it was a nice idea.

MP Grimlock was never going to be anything other than a scaled up version of the G1 design with enhanced articulation & detailing,just like all the others in the line have been so I don't get why some people are having an issue with the design.

Had Takara chosen to take the MP line in another direction and made War Within Grimlock or a more organic looking dinosaur mode the sales would not be as good as only the hardcore fans are familiar with those versions of the character.

As for Optimouse Prime,part of me wants to dismiss it as a waste of Takara's resources but it actually looks pretty well done.

In other words, Perceptor, the beast mode is a disappointment.

It's like buying a bigger G1 toy. Plus the lights (and probably sounds) and a slightly articulated little dino-arms.

Improvements went to the robot mode only.

Unlike Prime, Megatron and Starscream, whose got loads of improvements on both modes, which differentiates them by a mile from their G1 origin. MP Grimlock looks like half-cooked growing-up G1.

OK...I finally get to say my piece. I've gone through 5 pairs of pants here as everytime I see the Grimlock fig I sh*t myself. DAYUM! What a figure...can't wait to see a colored version.

Optimouse Prime. Priceless. I am a big fan of things that are corny and cheesy (forgive the pun) and this is definitely something that will be fun for the kids. Disney is slipping a bit against other cartoons, and Mickey especially. It's about time that Disney did something to bring Mickey into the 21st century. Great marketing ploy by Disney. I'll be disappointed if this isn't available popularly...I've got a spot right next to Optimash for this guy. And I love the link between Mickey as "leader" of the Disney toons and Prime as leader of the Autobots. Kids everywhere are going to love this.

I think I understand why some people complain that MP Grimlock is not exceeding the expectations. That's because the G1 toy was already very accurate and well done, so the difference would never be that big. In Megatron and the seekers the difference was huge. And Optimus Prime had more that could be improved than Grimlock, although it was also very accurate.

That's my opinion... and I'm one of those that is loving that MP . This is definitely my favorite line, along with G1.

Now, how about a MP Shockwave? Or Soundwave with working cassette recorder capabilities and minions that are actually working cassettes? He he ^^

Well it’s not that I wanted him in some other form, but Grimlock just isn’t the character I thought deserved such a toy. Something like an MP Galvatron or Hot Rod would’ve been a better choice.

It’s just my opinion, but honestly I think the MP line is three words that start with “over”: Overrated, oversized and overpriced. Such things are general overkill to me.

Grimlock looks really really cool! As for Micky Mouse well I like the head but not the rest.
