How much is a club membership and what do I get? What’s in the magazine?
I want this that badly. :| |

Meh, I don't like it... Not a headmaster, and doesn't have 'ears'-> not Nightbeat |

Yeah, looks OK. it certainly could use the "ears," though. I'm not a fan of the way the arms are pinned to his sides, either. It's better than than the G1 mold, though. Good effort, but pass. |

For US Residents, club membership is $40 for the most basic shipping methods (3rd class mail, versus $62 for first class). You get twelve months of a crappy pennysaver-like set of classified adds for toys. Every other month, you get a magazine with the occasional interesting article, but mainly nice pictures of toys that you've already seen on the message boards. You also get about 6 pages of a comic, that continues from book to book (right now, we're midway through the fourth story arc).
You also get one special club exclusive a year - so far, they've been re-decos of various Energon combiner limbs (the tank, helicopter, and two jets). Next year's exclusive is going to be the torso - it's assumed that it will be based off of Barricade (Onslaught). This particular figure is FREE with membership.
Being a member also gives you access to special club exclusives (like Nightbeat and the Seacons). I believe they also offer a small discount to members for events like Botcon, and it's feasible that they might have special member-only giveaways at various cons (though their tendency to lag when it comes to sending out information puts a damper on that). |

Pretty nice-looking figure, although I agree that not having the "ears" makes it less iconic, and I wish they'd gone with the darker blue. Sky blue is kind of... well... a bit girly-looking.
I'd buy it anyway if it was one of the Universe figures at retail, but as it is... :/ |

Thefigure isn't bad...I never liked that Hot Shot mold because of the lack of articulation in the legs and the wimpy shoulder joints. However, I tell ya...that Powerlink with Nightbeat and Hot Shot looks really nice...the colors ever blended well. My wife noted that the figures looked like they belonged together. Still, not enough for me to buy...bring on the SeaCons! |

But I’m probably going to join at some point just for the figures though. |

Looks pretty good but I wasn't much of a fan of that mold. |

This particular figure is FREE with membership.[/quote:3ksyv7kd] I wouldn't mind if it was Barricade. I'd rather it be an Autobot (since if they keep alternating between Autobot and Decepticon each year, it's the Autobots' turn after Topspin ships...), but it was confirmed when Topspin was verified as this year's figure that the gestalt team's torso figure would be retooled...
How come there's a gallery already, though? Saw in my e-mail yesterday that they were still working on posting pre-orders on the site... |

no offence but its not g1 anymore[/quote:3occrwj0] If it doesn’t accurately represent it’s G1 counterpart in some fashion why even bother naming it after him? And it’s a homage to him so it should look somewhat like him.
Now I am pleased with this figure, but it should look like what it’s based off of and it’s based off of a G1 figure. |

The only real change (beyond the fact that he's no longer a Headmaster) is that they used blue-green for his alt-mode's main color. (The images for the G1 figure on Teletraan I: The Transformers Wiki show Nightbeat's color as being [i:h1l75gwr]blue[/i:h1l75gwr].) Beyond this I don't feel there's anything to complain about.
Maybe the blue-green in Nightbeat's deco means his paint-job is custom-faded like Bumblebee's in the movie. (It's your first car, son, wouldn't expect you to understand.)
[quote="bumblerumblev2":h1l75gwr]no offence but its not g1 anymore[/quote:h1l75gwr] Maybe it's supposed to be [i:h1l75gwr]Energon[/i:h1l75gwr] Nightbeat. You know...where all the deluxe-class Autobots could combine with any of the other deluxe-class Autobots. This is a retool of E-Hot Shot, and they've clearly kept it so where Nightbeat can combine with all those figures too. (How else is the head gonna stay in place in Nightbeat's normal robot mode?) |
