While Platinum Year of the Monkey Optimus Primal has been available at retail in Canada as a Toysrus exclusive, it was unsure which retailer would be carrying this figure in the US.
It turns out this figure is NOT exclusive in the US since both Amazon.com and Toysrus are currently carrying this figure. They are both currently shipping and selling this figure for USD $149.99.
At this price will you be picking it up? If not, what price would make you change you mind? Let us know in the discussion!

That's around 209$CAN! So, our 200/CAN price tag is close enough.
Still about 75% WAYYYYYY too expensive.

In fact, I could buy MP Primal and still have room left for Hot Rod.
Crazy, crazy prices.

While it's pretty and interesting... there are plenty of other things to spend my money on.

For the price of YOTM Primal, I could buy a full set of CW Combaticons, and then still go out for a nice dinner.Amelie wrote:At $150 he's competing with MP-10 or even (more importantly) MP Primal.

I saw him at TRU today. Nice lookin box. I'll admit, if it were say 150 (as opposed to its 200 CAD price tag) I'd have considered it.

Don't do it! You'd only show them that you endorse this behavior

Well, it's based on the normal price for a leader figure is 60$CAN. So, an extra 20 bucks for Supreme class.

He goes though the sound effects and a description of the deco and articulation. Note that the robot head in beast mode can be more hidden than it appears in the video, but that would mean that the gorilla head would be facing down.
Hunched over stance (called gorilla mode) is actually what they put in the official instructions.
I mentioned that in my video about the stances. I left it in this mode to give contrast to the robot mode otherwise it would just look exactly like robot mode cut off at the knees.
Thanks for watching.

Nice review.
Although, with the original figure, the rotated chest sides seen in each mode here were meant for the opposite modes. The all-red side was originally all-gold and meant to be his robot mode chest, while the side with the circle was his gorilla chest. This is evident in the video as the Maximal symbol ends up being upside-down when seen in beast mode.
If only the toy hadn't been packaged with the beast mode's circle chest side visible in robot mode, which looks to be the source of this confusion.

20th Anniversary Beast Wars...is there anything planned for this year beyond the Optimus Primal that has already been revealed?
Not for this year. I can say this and candidly to other fans that don't approach me, the Beast Wars universe began in 1996 but it continued arguably into the early 2000's and I think there's opportunities in the future to reconnect with that. I feel like even in the coming years that those bridges can be made even stronger as our fan base changes, as our fans that remember that have a nostalgic connection they want to share that with their kids, their family and they want to add that to their collection. There's no reason we would ever write off that era or any other...Armada, Energon, 2007 movie, there's no reason why we would never look at any other part of the Transformers universe.

Alright all you Beast Wars kids, time to procreate! Then we can get some real nice updates to those toys.

Hasbro doestn hide its formula, did you see this pic? It looks like the same thing you would see at a drug dealer conference:
Just replace the TFs with bags of white powder and you can keep the writing the same.

I did get it on ebay from asia. With the exception of a small few, that seems to be how I'm getting most platinum editions.

I agree and the free shipping helps a lot. That's where i got my Blaster and perceptor set when I realized they werent coming to Canada. It was cheaper to ship it from asia then use Target's new international option
So, are we to expect to never have the galleries for the upcoming platinum Galvatron and Rodimus set? Dont worry, I would understand.
