iGear Adds Pre-Order and Release Date for Kup Head Upgrade

Thanks to our tenacious site member El Duque for updating us on the latest news on third party toymaker iGear's deluxe Kup head upgrade, now called Kup01. According to the update, the set will include not one, but two heads for your deluxe RTS/United Kup figure: one with the "cygar" and one without. The set is expected to be released in mid-March (listed as March 20th) and will cost 12.99 which includes free shipping. While we still haven't see the final, colored versions of these heads, iGear has added a few new teaser images of the prototype to their site which have been mirrored below.

Ordered. I was hoping to get it sooner and through BBTS though. I ordered the Kup/Scourge/Thundercracker/Wheeljack wave through them and it would've been nice to get it all in the same box at the same time!

Same here, but I've ordered directly from iGear before and everything worked out fine. You just can't beat $12.00 for two custom heads and free shipping.

2 heads will be a nice way to distinguish the generations Kup i ordered from tf aource, the ehobby Kup i preordered and the ebay Kup i ordered last week coz i couldnt wait anymore lol

Yeah, these people know how to do it right. I'm surprised it comes with both heads too, that's even better! I hope the paint apps are up to snuff too, but it's not a big deal if they're not. I ordered mine the second I saw the posting. I hope they do more add-ons like this in the future.

Now that I've seen the iGear version I don't really like the factory head at all. Not that it's bad or anything, and if it were the only game in town I would be fine with it. I'm just diggin' the IDW style the custom has goin on.

The cygar head is cool and all, but I'm not paying almost as much as I paid for Kup himself for both heads when I see no point in a second cygar-less head. Aside from the cygar, there's nothing wrong with the generations head. I can make my own out of polymer clay or something. Problem solved and I save 12 bucks.

is the free shipping worldwide? because that might sell it to me. I'm assuming it's $12 US, not $12 Canadian, or Primus forbid, Australian?

I reckon so - I just completed checkout to a European address and there was no extra charge. I believe they're based in China rather than the US.

iGear has updated their Facebook page and pre-order page with images of both heads in their Kup 01 set.
The second cygar-less head appears to be identical to the first with the exception the of the mouth being reversed. Theses are only prototypes, and the final sculpts may be different.

Just pre-ordered mine. I don't have a problem with the factory Generations head. But for only $12 it'd be crazy not to go for it. It would appear to make the figure a damn-site cooler.

Nice heads. Personally I'll be using the Cygar head and give 5 bucks to the first person that notices I have a cigar smoking Transformer.

I would liked a more unique expression for his other head, but I'm still liking it. The official head strikes me more like the movie Kup as a wise old man and mentor. These are more like the IGN comics, with an aged badass vibe.

That is pretty cool. I wonder if it was planned that way or just a coincidence? I'm confident the final product will be molded and painted in the correct colors.

So far iGear is only place with a pre-order. BBTS has never listed a preorder for their MP Prime heads so I doubt they carry these either. I would prefer to deal with BBTS or TFsource in most situations, but in this case you can't really beat the deal iGear has going.

Since the box fits into the back, I'm going to attempt to use a similar insulation, or the one included, as well as any gun accessories I have to place them in there, like a weapons container. Glad that the igear logo isn't terribly lame in any way, and can pass for a munitions supplier.

I've decided that I'm going to use the original head for a custom Crystal Head Kup.

It'll be a prop made of Legos but still, I wanna have something like that sitting on my shelf lookin' all crazy with his ugly cygar-less face.

If you were holding off on pre-ordering IGear's Kup01 head replacement set for Generations Kup until the fully painted versions were revealed the wait's over. IGear has updated their FaceBook page and pre-order page with fully colored images of both versions of the head that come in the set. The images have been mirrored below.

The colors look spot on. The more I see their versions the less I like the original, but then again I love his IDW incarnation.
