Budget twice as much? The little honey must be confused. That would put ROTF's budget around $300 mil. After the less-than-anticipated box office takes of megabudget flicks like [i:2ufi7yak]Superman Returns[/i:2ufi7yak] and [i:2ufi7yak]King Kong[/i:2ufi7yak], I don't think any major studio is gonna fork over THAT much money for production period alone... not even to Michael Bay. Not to mention the fact that Bay, egomaniac that he is, has a reputation for significantly cutting production costs where other filmmakers go overboard.

Perhaps she means that the VFX budget is twice as much as the first one -- that would be more reasonable.

Even if it's only the VFX budget, that's the budget that matters from the standpoint of those who want to see more transforming robots.

Bay tends to squeeze every drop out of his budget. The VFX from Transformers made the more expensive Spiderman 3 look laughable. Usually, a claim of increased budget wouldn't make me want to see a movie any more, but in this case, it probably does point toward even more impressive visuals. We almost certainly won't get a script that tickles any brain cells, but we'll get some very sweet eye candy indeed.

A $300 mill budget? Sweet. If there is one thing Bay can do, it's get the most out of a budget.

I wish I could go to SDCC...

All we need for a perfect movie is a beach scene now...Fox in a bikini on the big screen...(sigh)

Great news on the budget!

And Fox likes comic books and Star Wars? Wow, she's the hottest nerd that I've ever seen, next to WWE's Trish Stratus.

hmm... i don't think superman and king kong are good examples. Personally, I didnt know anyone that was waiting to go see either one of those two movies. Younger kids this generation aren't really aware of king kong, whereas transformers have been around lately more than king kong. Even if you were born in the 90's and missed G1 you stilled had Beast Wars and more recently Armada, Cybertron, etc. I wouldnt be surprised if what she says is correct, first transformers was a huge hit, and it helped get people that didnt know too much about transformers into it and would love to see the second one. i think Michael Bay did an excellent job, enough for the studio to trust him with that much. Just my opinion :APPLAUSE:

Why are we only hearing from Megan Fox? Why not another star of the movie, like 'Running Person #12'. It's like she's just repeating herself for no particular reason.

Actually, they're perfect examples due to the fact that [i:2npdmsry]Batman Begins[/i:2npdmsry] came out the year before [i:2npdmsry]Superman Returns[/i:2npdmsry], therefore introducing a new generation to the DC mythos, and Peter Jackson was coming red hot off of [i:2npdmsry]The Lord of the Rings[/i:2npdmsry], therefore making [i:2npdmsry]King Kong[/i:2npdmsry] one of the most anticipated movies of the year (c'mon, everybody knows people went to see "Kong" for Jackson, not Kong). Take a look at any number of industry related magazines from their respective years of release, and you'll see that the hype surrounding the two films was at a fever pitch. People, yes even young people, were going to see those films based on the strength of "Batman" and "Rings" (plus, [i:2npdmsry]Superman Returns[/i:2npdmsry] made $391 million worldwide while [i:2npdmsry]King Kong[/i:2npdmsry] brought in over $550 million -- proving there WAS a significant demand to see the films, just not as much as the studios expected).

[i:2npdmsry]Transformers[/i:2npdmsry] on the other hand, didn't have a feature film in the pipeline since 1985, a much longer hiatus than those mentioned above. And let's be reasonable, the mainstream movie going public are much different than us nerds who eat up anything remotely TF related. Just as you didn't "know anyone that was waiting to go see either one of those two movies," I spoke to quite a few people who didn't even know a Transformers movie was coming out until the TV spots started popping up. One guy I know that works at FOX had the audacity to say that he and people he worked with thought that [i:2npdmsry]Transformers[/i:2npdmsry] was gonna flop! He laughed when I told him it would do $100 million opening weekend (it only brought in $70 mil, but that's still pretty damn good!)

So you see, even with properties, directors, actors, etc. that are red hot and seem to be a sure thing, the industry is just TOO volatile for studios to hike up a budget that significantly so quickly. A more gradual rise, i.e. [i:2npdmsry]Spider-man [/i:2npdmsry]trilogy, [i:2npdmsry]Matrix[/i:2npdmsry] trilogy, [i:2npdmsry]Pirates of the Caribbean[/i:2npdmsry] trilogy, etc., is a more common way to go. If it is true at ROTF does have a budget of $300 mil, I just hope Bay doesn't go overboard and puts the funds to good use. Give us some more bots!!!

I hate to be cynical, but I'd say the reason everybody seems to want to interview her and only her is probably because she's a hot chick, and 'Running Person #12' isn't. Or perhaps she's more willing to respond to interviews than her costars. I don't know. We have at least heard a bit from Bay and the head soldier guy from the first one recently, though.
