Does not look any better in or out of box. Looks like it comes with an exclusive comic. Hasbro's way of trying to move these off shelves. It will go on clearance. Maybe then.

So comic and no dvd? They look okay, but probably a pass for now. Wonder if they'll make it into the show at some point.

These really suck. So disappointing. I DO like the individual jet modes, they're not that bad, but everything else about these two is just Epic Fail. Too bad, since I love the rest of Animated.

I thought Firestorm would be a much cooler name for the combined form of Jetfire and Jetstorm(get it?).

Safeguard is a bit... I dunno. I guess maybe the idea is that individually they represent 2 extremes, but together they balance each other's craziness out. Or maybe their mission is to 'guard' a 'safe'. Or protect the allspark or something. Other than some reason like that, it'd be a bit ... weak.

Or maybe Hasbro is getting ready to trademark the name again since it was last used quite a while ago as the name of Vector Prime's mini-con.

Or maybe they really like Safeguard soap.. these guy kind of look like a bar of soap when combined. :o)

I'm not a huge fan of those figures at all. The combined jet mode just looks dumb.

Hey guys!

I messaged Derrick Wyatt at his blog regarding the Jetfire and Jetstorm figures. And here's what he had to say about it...

"I wouldn't rush to judgment on the Jetfire and Jetstorm figures yet. Those are some pretty terrible pictures that are out there right now. The pictures I saw way back of the grey prototypes looked really good. And yes, of course they have hands! In both robot modes! The promo pics are just mistransformed. Once they are properly transformed and posed out, they should look pretty cool. "

SWEEET!!!!

Still crap. No matter how much spin you put on it, how flashy the packaging....CRAPOLA.

I was hoping that the 2-Pack would come with a DVD.

At least the comic gives me more of a reason not to pick this up.

I pity the poor sucker picked to write and illustrate that comic. I mean, all of that work...packed in with all of that fail.

OK, so we have confirmation that the pics show them mistransformed. Regardless, even with hands, I have a hard time seeing them looking even decent. That combined jet form is an atrocity. Unless there's a completely different combined jet mode that the photographer utterly failed to understand, I'm just not seeing any way to justify these guys. A correct transformation might save these figures from the status of complete embarrassment, but they're still the bottom of the Animated line, which otherwise has given us an almost unbroken series of terrific figures.

I have to say it would be more fun to stand in a hockey net and take nut shots than get these figures.

You mean you'd rather get hit in the balls repeatedly with hard, fast moving objects than lose $25? Man, you're a real miser!

Yeah these two are disappointing, although I like they way the robots combine - I've not seen it done like that before. But they should have at least given them more differences in the mold. And putting one jet on top of the other doesn't constitute 'combining' in the transformers style for me.

Yes, two piggy-back jets is a ridiculous "combination," but the addition of actual wings might do them wonders...

When I originally saw the names Jetfire and Jetstorm were to be in Animated, I was happy. After all, the original Jetfire and classics are awesome figures, and Jetstorm was a great character in Beast Machines (with a sadly atrocious toy). My hopes were high.

Sadly, these fail to meet any of my expectations. My opinions are as follows:

-First off, the fact that they combine is a let-down. There's no need or purpose. The only excuse is that maybe they have polar opposite personalities and even out when combined. Prozac works (and looks) better.
-Secondly, these figures are more gimmick than worthwhile. Automorph and sound chips are fine with me (as long as they work, which so far, all of the figures I've purchased with these features have worked), but to make a combiner just for the sake of making a combiner makes this less than appealing.
-Last of all, the names. There is nothing here that says Jetstorm or Jetfire. I guess until they're in the series, there really won't be a noticable tie to their namesakes.

I've felt left-down by Shockwave, and now these. If it weren't for some of the other really great figures from this line taking up the slack, I might re-think some future purchases.
